Modified Atkins Diet for Neurological Problems (Premium)
The ketogenic diet, a high-fat, low-carb approach that is known to reduce seizures for many with epilepsy was developed in the 1920s for use with children. It has since spawned variations, with a key focus on defining effective therapies that are less restrictive than the ketogenic diet. One such approach is the modified Atkins diet, developed in 2002.
The modified Atkins diet, sometimes referred to as MAD, is being explored for autism, brain tumors, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, traumatic brain injury, Lou Gerhigs disease and tic disorders, among other neurological conditions.
