10 Ways to Get Your Kids to Turn Off the TV (Premium)
A divorced dad complained that when he has his children for visitations, they either want to go out on pricey adventures, or sit home playing their video games and watch TV. We put pulled these ideas together for simple indoor activities that can be a fun change of pace and don’t take much effort.
Here are ten enjoyable indoor activities that you can use to keep kids occupied. They are inexpensive and something children can look forward to doing during visits.
1. Fishing for letters
Fill a tub or large basin with water and drop in standard plastic magnetic letters. For effect, add some ocean toys if you have them. Give your child something to “fish” with while standing outside the tub — it can be as simple as a string with a magnet tied to the end, or a small fishing pole with a magnet attached. If needed, hot glue can help your magnet stay attached to the string. Collect the letters on a towel. They can be randomly “caught” or in ABC order, etc.
