Bold New Book on Tourette Syndrome Exposes
What Mainstream Medicine Refuses to Acknowledge
(GROSSE ILE, MICHIGAN) It’s time to add another voice to the conversation on how to treat Tourette syndrome: A voice educating the public on the connection between tics and environmental triggers. Tourette syndrome is defined by involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics. Once rare, it now affects millions worldwide, with estimates as high as one in 100. Tics can range from being a simple nuisance to being socially devastating and physically debilitating.
When Sheila Rogers DeMare’s son was diagnosed with Tourette’s 25 years ago, she set out to find alternative treatments in hopes of avoiding the notorious side effects of traditional tic medications. A working school psychologist and single mother of three, she met with success. She began sharing her story while collecting reports from doctors and families. This led to DeMare establishing the non-profit organization Association for Comprehensive NeuroTherapy. Since then, countless others worldwide have borne witness to the effectiveness of her approach.
In DeMare’s latest book, Tourette Syndrome: Stop Your Tics by Learning What Triggers Them, she blows the lid off the conventional mindset that Tourette’s is an intractable genetic disorder with symptoms that “mysteriously” come and go. She makes a strong case that just as migraine and asthma attacks can be triggered by diet and the environment, so too can symptoms of Tourette syndrome.
DeMare is on a mission to inform the public about integrative therapies for neurological disorders. Her first book, Natural Treatments for Tics and Tourette’s: A Patient and Family Guide, is an Amazon bestseller. By advocating for a paradigm shift in the understanding and treatment of Tourette’s, she has met resistance from conventional organizations.
Demare says: “Available research supports an environmental and immune connection to tics, but patients are usually taught to resign themselves to the symptoms or take strong medications. The fact is that tics can often be reduced or eliminated when personal triggers related to diet, allergens, and toxins are identified and eliminated. People need to know. That’s why I wrote my new book.”
Tourette Syndrome: Stop Your Tics by Learning What Triggers Them is available on Amazon and through Latitudes.org. Sheila Rogers DeMare is available for speaking engagements and media interviews.
