Avoiding Toxic VOCs at Home (Premium)
ACN Latitudes has received numerous complaints that exposure to volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) “out gassing” from products can trigger dizziness, fatigue, tics, seizures, and headaches. Additional troublesome effects are noted in the literature from breathing in VOCs, including in part, cancer, central nervous system damage, and respiratory distress.
One of the most common and troublesome VOCs is formaldehyde. The Minnesota Department of Health provides an excellent summary of the issues, and we’ve excerpted some key topics below. At the end of this article we’ve included resources for nontoxic cabinetry and paints.
