Research on Tourette Syndrome is So Depressing
I sat down today to write a recap of some of the latest research on Tourette’s.
What a bummer!
In the last few months there are about 60 published research articles on Tourette syndrome. You can check them out here.
There is not one article among them on diet, allergy or nutritional status for Tourette syndrome, despite years of reports by families and forward-thinking physicians that there is often a very important connection.
Nine of the studies focused on deep brain stimulation. If you aren’t familiar with this daunting procedure, here’s an article. And one study was completed on electroconvulsant therapy for Tourettes.
Wow. High tech, expensive, invasive treatments get the research money. And it’s a good guess that many people undergoing these therapies didn’t even know that there might have been treatable causes for their symptoms at the environmental or biomedical level.
That’s why we started our initiative Stop Tics Today.
If no one else will do the research, we must! Our new and exciting fundraiser has been started to raise awareness of safe and effective approaches to tic disorders and to support new research in these areas.
Please check out our site and join the fight for those suffering from tics now, and for generations to come. See how you can help!
