Can Vitamin D Reduce the Risk of Developing Autism? (Premium)
A new study published online in the journal Dermato-Endocrinology supports findings that vitamin D reduces the risk of developing autism. The authors, William Grant and John Cannell, report on autism prevalence by state in the United States for ages 6–17 (in 2010) as related to solar ultraviolet-B (UVB) doses.
They found that autism prevalence was significantly inversely correlated with solar UVB doses, and suggest vitamin D deficiency is an important risk factor for developing autism.
