Sign the Sandy Hook Petition: Ban Assault Weapons
From the Editor: It’s been ten years since the Sandy Hook school massacre, when twenty students and six adults were killed with an AK-47 assault rifle by a single assailant in Newtown, Connecticut. Despite efforts advocating for a change in gun laws, Congress has failed to act responsibly.
The Sandy Hook Promise is a national nonprofit organization with the goal to make schools, homes, and communities safer. Banning assault weapons is a logical step. We feel helpless in the face of rampant gun violence in America. Signing this petition is something we each can do today.
A bill to ban assault weapons has been introduced to Congress. Sign the petition from the Sandy Hook Promise to support the bill.
From the Sandy Hook Promise:
Our loved ones were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary by a shooter who used an AR-15-style assault weapon, allowing him to fire 154 bullets in four minutes.
That’s why these military-style assault rifles are the weapon of choice for mass shooters – and why stopping the sale of them is so important to us. It’s a commonsense reform that we know will save precious lives.
Please sign our petition right now to tell Congress: I urge you to immediately stop the sale of assault weapons to help save lives!
