Fighting Our Way Out of the Despair of OCD and PANS (Premium)
Editor: Ellen’s story is shared to convey the serious symptoms and struggles that can occur with an infection-triggered neurological disorder, as well as the determination often needed to find help. We wish the family the very best and hope they will provide an update during the coming year. ACN Latitudes does not discourage conventional treatment, but encourages integrative and natural therapies be used when appropriate.
What should a mother think when her beautiful, outgoing, well-adjusted 11-year-old suddenly disappears—leaving a subdued, anxious, greatly troubled girl in her place? Tina assured me she was fine. But she certainly didn’t look or act fine. Her behaviors simply did not match those of our daughter, and even her facial expression had changed.
Thank up you for taking the time to share you experience. It’s an exhausting battle but the most important battle of our kids lives. The alternative is an unthinkable fate for our kids. I appreciate your words and identify with your experiences and feel stronger knowing I am not alone.
Thank you, that is why we shared our experience. I felt so alone fighting for my daughter’s life with no support from family. I thank God for His overwhelming love and guidance through the whole experience. Our daughter is doing so well now and wants to help others. Praying your child is better.
Hi there, I’m wondering, I’m confused if you think the final piece of the puzzle was the antidepressant? My daughter is suffering from OCD and I think Tourettes too. We’re doing a multifaceted approach as well, and are preparing for our third visit to a therapist for Cognotive Behaioral Therapy. My worry is that the therapy is making thing worse. It seems to really stress her out, even though we’ve had a success with it for one behavior. Maybe we just need to keep trying for a bit. thank you for sharing your story, it gives huge hope to others. Peace, Laura
