  1. Chemar, How long does it take for the inositol to kick in & help w/OCD? About 2 weeks ago, I started my son at about 300mg/day and now has worked up to 600 mg/day. So far he has slight improvement on "turning the faucet handles on & off" and "erasing his writing", while other OCD seem to remain the same. Should i give it more time before i add the B6 in the P5P form? Thx! Pat
  2. This is my experience w/Unda#s (homeopathic rx that is a combination rx in various potency, from the Xs to Cx). When my son had his initial onset of tics, his ND, who was not BTW a homeopath prescribed various Unda#s & his tics intensified and had more tics. His NP insisted that was a good sign becuz the body is getting an aggravation and the symptoms would subside in a few weeks. Well, the tics only gotton worse, so i finally stopped the Unda#s, and the tics took months to get back to baseline. I have tried Unda #s myself and it gave me momentarily fainting spells. Years later, my son tried Unda #s for his cough, and it didn't seem to aggravate his tics. I have been taking homeopathic remedies for the last 2 years for various chronic conditions, and when i get a partial remedy, it actually made me feel worse, such as frequent bloody nose, made my pain worse, nausea,.... Often, my aggravation last until i switch to a better remedy. Info on homeopathy: For acute issues, remedies can be repeated but each time at the next higher potency. For chronic issues, remedy is given one at a time and then wait to see before prescribing again. The case taking for a chronic remedy is a constitutional remedy, which means it takes one's overall health, not just specific issues. Keynote prescribing is prescribing a remedy based on key symptoms and not one's overall health. Hope this is helpful. Pat
  3. If you are interested in homeopathy. I would suggest you find a classically trained homeopath that uses one remedy at a time and not a combination remedy. Many ND also prescribe homeopathic remedy but they are not homeopaths unless they are trained in homeopathy. Also, be sure the homeopath does not do keynote prescribing, becuz it may give temperary relief but will not give lasting relief. I suggest you read & understand homeopathy before considering the modality. The general impression is that is is safe, natural and no side effect. It is NOT true!! If the remedy is powerful enough to cure, it is equally powerful enough to harm when it is not prescribe carefully & correctly. Hope this is helpful. Pat
  4. lele, Sorry to hear your son has asthma. I know the frustration because steriod can aggravate tics. When my son first started ticcing, i decided to treat his underlining issues, which is allergies & asthma. About 6 mos after starting NAET & diet modification, his asthma was gone, but it came back about a year and half later. Not sure why, suspected it may has to do w/bioset ( i switched from NAET to Bioset). Went back to NAET, but he still has asthma but better. Here are some of the suggestions. Quercetin helps w/allergies. Now not every brand works the same since each company processes it differently. We use Maxiflav. For nasal allergies, i use Nasalcrom. It is OTC and it is sodium cromlyn. It is one of the safest medicine for allergies. I have tried Patanese, an antihistame nasal spray. It works fast & good but it is new on the market and it is a strong medicine. I have also tried a nasal spray made out of quercetin and it didn't help w/stuffy nose and it gave my son nose bleed, so did my daughter. My son also had nose bleed & sore throat from using steriod nasal spray. For cold/cough/asthma, i give him Intal, it is also made out of sodium cromlyn. I start this as soon as first sign of cough/cold. If cough gets worse or along w/asthma, i add albuterol along w/Intal. Also, first sign of cold/cough, i start him w/vit C, elderberry extract, in frequent doses. I also increase his qucertin to stop the progression of the cold. This really helps. Local raw honey is helpful too for allergies. Make sure it is RAW & Local (w/in 5 miles is best). I hope this is helpful. Pat
  5. fixit, i gave qucertin to control my son's cough from allergies and directly discovered it helps w/his OCD symptoms. I cut it back to 250mg/a day & the OCD is creeping back. I increased it to 500mg/day 2 days ago and the OCD is subsiding. I can't say for sure at this point, but i will post again re: OCD & qucertin. Pat
  6. I've tried Littel allergies for my kids but it is not very practically if you are already having allergy symptoms like sneezing becuz it wipes off & needs to be reapplied. I have been giving quercetin to my son for 2 months about 500mg daily. Does anyone know if it is ok to give quercetin long term and no side effects? Pat
  7. Sorry for the late reply as i have been away for vacation. In re: NAET. I believe it has helped my son's tics along w/craniosacral, chiropractic, diet modification and lifestyle change. NAET did not reduce his tics initially (BTW my son has been doing NAET for 4 yrs off & on), it was a gradual process. I believe it helped becuz my son has food & environmental allergies, so by treating his triggers it indirectly helped w/his tics. Now, if your child's tics are not caused by allergens, then i don't think it would be as effective. Pat
  8. tpotter, how do you & your son control asthma cough? If using steriod medication, does that aggravate the tics? Pat
  9. Faith, I live in N. Cal and i can tell you that in the beginning of the allergy season, there was alot of mold due to the excess rainfall, then came the tree pollens. The trees & flowere are blooming everywhere and it is still going. There is an OTC nasal spray for allergies called Nasalcrom and it reduces inflammation in the sinus. It has almost no side effect. Neti pot may also be another option. Patanase is another nasal spray antihistamine but you need a prescription. Hope things are settling for your son. Pat
  10. Faith, Environmtal allergies may be a problem as CA had excessive rain fall and it is going thru one of the worse allergy seasons in years. My husband has never had allergies and he is having trouble. Have you tried qucertin? It works well for my daughter, and some for my son. Allergy medicine if he is having symptoms. Pat
  11. Thx Chemar! I see it now! Pat
  12. Can someone tell me how to access my inbox messages? I can't seem to find the message box option. Thx! Pat
  13. Anyone know of this? I am looking for a chirop who does upper cervical correction like NUCCA, but can't find one w/in reachable distance from my home. However, a friend referred me to a chirop who uses the Atlas Orthogonal technique (upper cervical correction), using a machine w/precise vibration adjmt, the correction is based on 3 dimensional x-rays (front, sides and top). It is very precise and w/o manual manipulation. Pat
  14. To lower histamine, instead of using OTC antihistamine medications, try quercetin. I got this from our ND, Maxiflav & Isoquercetin and it seems Maxifav works alittle better. Not all quercetin are the same due to the way it was processed. Some are more bioavaible than other. Pat
  15. If your son tics after ipod usage maybe he is sensitive to EMF emission aka "dirty electricity". I would probably keep a close eye on him after ipod usage and ltd his usage. Pat
  16. Congrat to you & your son CP! Your words has bought tears to my eyes. I wish your son many success in the future! Pat
  17. My son just turned 10. We started 2 weeks ago, with spacers and this week w/braces on the upper teeth and will add the expander next week. He does have some discomfort from the braces, otherwise it is good. Thx for the tips on the dental products! Pat
  18. My son has been on quercetin for about 11/2 mo. for his allergies. About a month into it, 95% of his OCD is gone. We have also been using NAET for his OCDs for the last 8 mos, it has helped about 70% then about 40% of the symptoms would come back but in lesser degree. So i am incline to say that i believe the quercetin has helped w/his OCD. There are also articles & research that i googled regarding the histamine & OCD connection. Anyone who are using quercetin and notice OCD improvement? Pat
  19. Hi all, My son just got his braces and will add an upper palate expander in a week. His ortho sugguested a concentrated flouride cleaner at nite to clean his teeth as an extra precaution in addition to his regular brushing & cleaning. We use a nonflouride toothpaste. Is there another cleaner i can use to make sure his teeth are clean? My son is prone to cavities so i really want to keep his teeth as clean as possible. Thx! Pat
  20. ameecram, My son is 10 and he sees a ND who also treats him via NAET for food/environmental allergies and his OCDs. His allergies got better until this year and his asthma went away and then came back, so now i am questioning the lasting effect of NAET. Also, he is growing, so his biochemistry is changing, so that can be a contributing factor. But i do feel that overall he is much less sensitive to things. Pat
  21. ameecram, So happy for you, and all your hard work is paying off. how much qucertin do you give your child? I have been giving my son quercetin for about 6 weeks, about 1500 mg/day and i am not sure if it is helping his allergies. My son is still on Zyrtec (1/2 a day). And he has been having a lingering cough for 2 months. Any suggestions? Pat
  22. Interesting. One possible explanation is that according to homeopathic principal is that one's illness presents one state at a time. For example, since your child has a chronic tic issue and the acute (poison ivy) illness is stronger than the chronic state, than the acute will presents its symptoms while the chronic becomes dormant. When the acute resolves, than the chronic resurfaces again. Pat
  23. Lynn, Quercetin is a bioflavnonoid. It is a supplement that you take to stabilize the mast cells to prevent histmaine production. It takes a few days to kick in and no side effect like the OTC allergy medication. It works well for my daughter at about 500mg a day. However, for my son at 1500-2000 mg a day, he is still having allergy symptoms, so we are using the neti pot and Zyrtec daily. I am going to start to wane him off Zyrtec in a few days and see what happens. I am also going to try Nettle for his allergies. Pat
  24. Lynn, I am sorry that happened on vacation. I totally understand. That is one of the main reasons why i don't take far away or a week long vacation fearing it may aggravate my son's symptoms. I know it is hard to relax and enjoy your family vacation, but you have to try for your son so he does not feel the tics get in his way. I am wondering if the waxing may be allergy induced since you are far away from home? If he has allergy, try OTC allergy medication like Claritin, Zyrtec or Benedrayl. If you are by a healthfood store, try qucertin it stabilizes the mast cell and blocks histamine production. However, it may take a few days to kick in. Pat
