ilovedog, what kind of tree allergy does your son have? and have you treated your son w/tree allergies via NAET before? if your son is sensitive like my son, i would suggest you treat the actual tree sample rather than using the NAET vial becuze your son may have been treated and pass via the NAET vial, but if you muscle test him w/the actual tree, he may not past. i learned this becuz after my son was treated via various NAET environmtal allergens, he was still having allergies but to a lesser degree, so i decided to collect actual samples and it helped. pat

mar, i wonder if your son has a sensitivity to coconut but not allergic. usu people w/mild sensitivities do not react to allergen, however, in massive dose one can react to it. also, a blood test only establishes a baseline and it may be a false negative. if you have started NAET, i would muscle test him each coconut item at a time then muscle test w/all combined coconut items. hope things settle fast for your son. pat

I am thinking if there is a food allergies & OCD connection, then is there an environmental allergies & OCD connection? I am trying to figure out what caused my son's OCD to spike last summer. Thx! Pat

Just wondering how does diet come into play w/OCD? Can certain food like dairy causes OCD to wax? Would appreciate it if someone can give me info, like books on diet & OCD. Thx! Pat

lele, So sorry that you are so stress out. I totally understand. It is so hard to relax when your child is having problems. Just try not to get caught up w/what the drs say about TS. As Chemar pointed out, severity depends on how much it impact one's life. Pat

Found a way to reduce my son's tics!
patty replied to mom2livelyboys's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
I decided to remove the retainer after wearing it about 3 weeks and after 2/3 adjustments. According to our orthod, who is aware of neurological issues in connection w/jaw misalignment says there will be an aggravation initially, however, w/more precise adjustment to his bite, it will eliminate the aggravations. I got nervous and decided to stop. Went to see my son's CST, who is also his NP. No change after the first CST, so i added epsom bath & magnesium supplement and after the 2nd CST, some of the symptoms lessen. So i went to my son's other NP who does NAET and treated the retainer w/an emotional vial "self-doublt" and his vocal lessen even more along w/ his OCD issues (that was only a week ago). We have another NAET appt. today. I will post more when i know more. Does your son have allergies (food & environmental) and asthma? Pat -
Newly Diagnosed Tic Disorder (7 1/2 year old girl)
patty replied to heidispidi's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
mom2livelyboys, Is there TS in the family? Chicken pox is a childhood disease. In my opinion it is best to have it as a child, as the symptoms are milder than when having it as an adult. Also, having chicken pox excercises one's immune system and builds lifelong immunity. Why would you want to vaccinate your son if he doesn't get it by 12? If i knew what i know now, chicken pox vaccine would be one of the vaccines that i would opt out. Pat -
Found a way to reduce my son's tics!
patty replied to mom2livelyboys's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
mom2livelyboys, Thx for your interesting post. My son started ticcing 4 yrs ago. Due to his severe underbite, he recently started to wear a retainer to correct the misalignment and it triggered a vocal tic and spiked some of his OCD problems. So i decided to removed the retainer after wearing it for about 3 weeks. And now we are using craniosacral therapy & NAET to treat his symptoms. At this point, i am not sure if i want to continue treatment for his underbite, but it is causing articulation issue for him, and i fear the underbite may cause more problems down the line. BTW, may i ask why your son is wearing dental appliance? Did removing the dental appliances helped w/his tics? Pat -

My son had success w/NAET w/environmental allergies. It didn't take away his allergies 100% since there are so many things in the air, but it did helped about 80-90% depends on his threshold at the time. He used to use Flonase due to nasal inflammation because he couldn't breathe thru his nose. His environmental allergies got better after treating his food allergies, then we moved on to environmental issues. It is very tricky to treat environmental issues because there is also the combination issues. ie. one may not be allergic to pine, but when combined it w/oak, one may be allergic. Also, in my last 4 years of NAET treatments, i discovered that even tho my son treated & passed the allergen, he was still having symptoms. So i decided to collect the actual samples. And how you hold the allergen is also important. I will elaborate if someone is interested. Pat

would he use a netti pot? Pat

Chemar, To clarify. My son had vocal tic, facial & motor tics (fr neck to feet). I began NAET after reading Sheila's book and decide to treat my son's underlining issues, food & environmental allergies and sensory issues and anger (those were the things that i was able to id at the time). I did not use NAET to treat his tics. After about 6 mos of NAET, his allergy & asthma improved. He did not have asthma for 2 years until i started bioset. Well, there is another story. I cannot tell you all the tic triggers but the more we treated w/NAET, the less the tics and some of them were eventually gone. Because he only has an infreq & mild facial tic that only comes on occassionally, it makes it easy for me to figure out some of his tic triggers. I do believe along w/diet modification and CST, it helped to calm his nervous system which in turn raise his threshold and reduce the tics. So it really is a comprehensive approach. With acunpuncture, i have seen complete facial reduction after 2 treatments. But my son's afraid of needles so that was not an option. Since last Dec, my son is treated using NAET for OCDs and have been getting some pretty good results. Will post more when i have more info. to share. For now, i am trying to figure out what to do w/his retainer issue that is causing some problems. Will also share that later. Pat

Chemar, Yes, some of my son's tics were completely gone if the trigger is treated. For example, his vocal tic was triggered by a kind of pine tree pollen. After he was treated via NAET, his vocal tic went away. He sometimes has a infreq mild nose twitch. I believe is environmental allergy induced. However, it is so minor that it just looks like what normal people would do w/nose irritation. Since my son has sensory issues, i do notice a minor spike when he is irritated, like environmental allergies or cat danders... The retainer triggered his vocal tics and spiked his OCDs. All symptoms are subsiding since removing the retainer along w/CST, epsom bath, magnesium supplement. He is almost back to baseline. We are seeing the NAET dr this week and plan to treat the retainer even tho he was muscle tested not sensitive. Pat

Milwalkee mom, My son rec'd NAET at various pace depending on if his symptoms. We usu do 1/2 items a week for a few months then i would like a break and see what his symptoms are, then resume. Pat

Yes, my son has success using NAET, along w/a comprehensive approach; diet change, along w/other modalities, chirop, acunpuncture, and craniosacral. With NAET, it was not an immediate reduction, it was a gradual process initially. My son has been treated w/NAET for the last 4 years. Now that he is not reactive to everything like he used to, there were several times that i can actually find out his exact tic trigger, treat it w/NAET and the tic is gone. Good luck! My advice is to find a qualified & experienced NAET practitioner. It makes all the difference. I have actually gone thru 2 others. Pat

ccc, Do you think you child's vocal waxing has to do w/ the retainer applicance? My son is seeing an orthdontist who is aware of Dr. Stack & Dr. Sims research and also is using a similar retainer to correct his severe underbite. He believes there is a connection bet jaw misalignment & neurological issues. 3 days into wearing it, my son started a vocal tic and his spiked his OCD symptoms. After 2 weeks of wearing the retainer, i stopped my son from wearing it since all his symptoms continue to escalate. It has been 4 days after removing the retainer and all symptoms are starting to improve. My son is also getting craniosacral therapy, taking epsom bath and magnesium. Pat

My son's orthod is familiar w/Dr. Sims & Dr. Stack's work. In fact, he gave me their pilot study on TS. The retainer device that he uses is similar to Dr. Stack & Dr. Sims but modified, and the idea is the same. By correcting my son's severe underbite it will correct other neurological issues, like tics, OCD, asthma, allergies..... I don't think my son is sensitive to metal because he was muscle tested on the materials used to make the retainer. I am alittle disappointed at this time as the orthod is not sure what is causing the symptoms to spike. He said he will talk to my son's Craniosacral therapiest and get a better idea of what is going on. In the meantime, i am not having my son wear it and see if the symptoms go away. This is so frustrating!!! Why does everything has to be so hard????!!!! Pat

My son just got his lower jaw retainer 2 weeks ago to correct his severe underbite. Two days into it, he started a vocal tic, and spiked some of his OCDs. Since his initial appt. for the retainer, he has had 2 adjustments on the retainer and 1 craniosacral therapy, and his vocal tic remains. According to my son's orthod, he said it is not unusual the retainer aggravates symptoms and it may take a few more adjustments before the symptoms subside. Anyone has similiar experience? I am getting concern & nervous!! Pat

Amazing Result! Unplugged Cordless / Wireless
patty replied to PacificMama's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Yes, i agree EMF can have an effect on those who are susceptible. TV & computers used to spike my son's tics, so we treated w/NAET and it has less effect on him even when he is waxing. Our PG&E utility comp would do a free accessment on EMF inside & outside of home and i got mine done last year and had a very low reading. I too also use a phone w/land line and do not let me kids use cell phone unless it is necessary. We don't use the microwave and turn off as much switches as possible at nite. My son does not have an emotional issue connection w/EMF. Pat -

lele, i live in norther california in the greater bay area. fortunately, alternative drs. are available. i took my son to see an acunpuncturist because his neck tic was giving him headache and neck pain. i also took him to a chirop to put the neck and back in aligmnent. i recently took my son to another acupuncturist for his returned asthma, it made it worse but it helped w/his facial tics. i wish i can offer more help. pat
