  1. So happy to hear that your son is improving! BTW, my son also has allergy and asthma and i checked your blog and couldn't find the supplements that you are giving your son. Can you help me find the info.? Thx! Pat
  2. We are currently using Zyrtec for the last 3 weeks w/o problems and would like to switch to natural allergy med too. So i am looking into Nettle and qucertin. Anyone know that if it is safe to give Zyrtec for an extended period of time? Can you give it for the whole allergy season on a daily basis? And do you need to wean it slowly after an extended period of usage? Does one's body get used to the allergy med and it becomes less effective? Pat
  3. FYI, dental cleaner used during cleaning also contain flouride, not just the flouride treatment. When we used to go to the conventional dentist, my son would tic more after each cleaning. We have since switched to a holistic dentist and who does not used flouride & mercury and my son is fine after dental cleaning. Pat
  4. Does your child have asthma after a cold? excercise induced? any coughing out of the blue? My son has asthma after a cold and excercise induced. However, the last couple of mos., he would cough out of the blue, in the morning and lying in bed with mucus in throat??? Once the coughing start, then more sneezing and blowing his nose or vice versa then a cold would come on. Is this years' allergy that bad? His asthma is mild, so only use Intal or albuteral as needed. What kind of asthma med does your child use? Do you find that by keeping the nasal allergy better, the asthma is better as well? Any idea on controlling the cough? Pat
  5. Nettle is a herb. Does the steriod aggravate tics or OCD (If any) symptoms? Does your child has asthma? If so, what works for you? I do wish my son would use a neti pot tho! Thx! Pat
  6. Anyone has tried nettle for allergies? Zyrtec works really well for my son but am looking into more natural way to manage his histamine level. Pat
  7. ilovedog, hope you & your family for a speedy recovery. have you tried freq & hi dose probiotic since you guys have stomach issues? pat
  8. CP, Unfortunately, two of our NPs do not know of any holistic orthodontists. I go to a holistic dentist and they gave me 2 referrals. One i was not certain about and the other one is a dentist doing orthodontic work. So i am still looking. Pat
  9. Hi all, I am looking for a holistic orthodontist who does not use head/neck gear, and avoids extractions to fix my son's underbite. Thx! Pat
  10. fixit, This is our experience. If i find the exact trigger, the symptoms goes away about 4/5 days later after 1 NAET treatment. Keeping a good journal is very very helpful! Pat
  11. Caryn, Thx for the info. on HFCS. We treated the honey & it didn't take away the vocal but treating the ACV did. Pat
  12. Deanna, IMO, in general antihistamine should not make tics worse, however, every child is different. However, i do think that elevated histamine can make tics worse if your child has allergies. I give the 24 hr. Claritin or Zyrtec at bedtime. But you can also give it in the morning, whichever works best or convenient for you. The only concern i have w/the OTC allergy med is that it has artificial color, flavor .... And Claritin seems to have the least junk in it. Pat
  13. sahm, don't get despair. you are doing your best. my advise is to figure out what is your child's triggers (if it is not genetic TS) then find the modalities that resonate with him. i find that in my past experience, detailed daily record keeping is crucial & essential in giving you clues. and before trying any modalities, try to understand how & why it works and be sure to find an experience practiitioner. a good practitioner who is good at his craft makes all the difference in the world! good luck! Pat
  14. I am giving my son claritin & zyrtec this allergy season and he is doing fine. I do believe that he is much less reactive to things after we have been doing NAET for the last 4 years. In fact, i find that he responds better to medication after he has been treated for NAET. Also, i am giving him a nasal spray called QC nasal spray by Thorne research that has quercetin & euphorbium recommended by his NP. You can goggle it and get in online. Nettle is also very good for allergies. I have not given it to him yet but is considering it. Pat
  15. sahm, Just want to let you know that most NP are not homeopaths. If you are interested in homeopathy, pls see a classically trained homeopath and she will prescribe a constitutional remedy that is specifically for your child. The combination remedy is not a classical homeopathic prescription. It is more like a pharmaseutical formula combined w/ the most common symptoms and hope that one of them will work. That's why many who have tried a combination remedy do not find it helpful. If it does reduce symptoms, it is only temporary and does not have lasting effect and eventually it will stop working. Please do not think that there is no side effect from using homeopathic remedies. If the remedy is strong & powerful enough to cure it also has the power to cause harm. However, do not be alarm at this point, as you have only given your son very little. Pat
  16. sahm, Welcome! Just want to say that i feel my son's tics are certainly connected w/his food & environmenal allergies. We took a comprehensive approach, eliminated all additivies, preservatives while treating w/NAET (allergy desensitization) and craniosacral to calm the nervous system and helped w/his neck tic. NAET did not take the decrease the tics immediately, it was a slow & gradual process. We have been at it for 4 years. Also, my son has some sensory issues as well. That too, has gotton better. Pat
  17. Costco is the cheapest around here in N. CA. Pat
  18. Hope, Thx for all your great ideas. I really appreciate it. Pat
  19. Thx for the advise, esp about warming up the thermos first. It is so much harder to pack lunch when we have trying to avoid wheat & dairy!! And he is 10 and a good eater! Any lunch suggestion is welcome! Pat
  20. Hi all, my son will be in junior high in about a year. in elementary school, i am able to bring him his lunch right before lunch, so he can have a nice hot lunch w/o all the junks while avoiding wheat/dairy. in junior high, the school does not want the parent to be on school ground unless for pickup or dropoff. any good lunch ideas that can weather the hot weather w/o eating a sandwich? and a hot lunch in a cold winter day (the hot food in thermas only stay warm about 2 hours on a very cold winter day, and lunch is about 5 hrs away from the time of packing. pat
  21. shannonotown, steriod is a stimulant so it may aggravate tics, but if your son is not reacting to it, i would not worry about it. How long have you been using the steriod nasal spray? And how many allergy shots have your son had? just curious about the allergy shots & steriod use since my son has allergies & asthma. FYI, we have been doing NAET for his food & environmental allergies and it has helped. pat
  22. shannonotown, when you say shots, do you mean allergy shots? and the nasal spray, is it steriod? i am wondering if the STERIOD and/or the ALLERGY shots aggravate tics? thx! Pat
  23. ilovedog, most allergy medicines' function is to block histamine, perhaps you should consider treating histamine if he is sensitive. have you tried giving him allergy med in the am and see if it helps w/tics? if allergy is his issue then desensitize him from allergies maybe helpful w/his tics (if the allergy med works to reduce tics). pat
  24. ilovedogs, do you notice where is your son having increase allergy reaction, at home, school, playground....? if it is at home, then i would start collecting actual samples around the house, rather it be trees, grass, flowers.... . As i have said before, your son may past the NAET tree mix or even individual tree vials, but he may not pass the ACTUAL allergens. The energy from the actual sample is more energetic than what is extracted in the NAET vials. Also, each tree is slightly different energetically. It is a long & tedious process, but it may paid off in the long run. We used to schedule appts just to test each individual allergens around my house, my neighborhood and at school. Pat
  25. lele, i am so mad that man poked fun at your son! i know how you feel. i think one of the things that makes tics/TS so hard is that it is hard for the parents to see & accept. i spent many sleepless nite crying and feeling ashame of myself for the lack of acceptance. i just pray & hope that you find something that help w/your son's tics and keep it minimal & not bothersome. some people are just mean & ignorant!! pat
