just want to put in my opinion about homeopathy why it works for some & not for others. I have tried it for myself for 2 yrs w/2 different classical homeopaths from my school where i studied w/o much success. In fact it made my symptoms worse and i had aggravation that last months at a time. I have also tried almost 10 remedies, one after another to antidote the previous trying to stop the aggravation, and have not found my exact remedy. I have tried it on my son on several occassions using a combination remedy prescribed by 2 different NP and it made his symptoms worse. Because i was intriqued by the philosophy of homeopathy and at one point thought that it would help my kids, myself or others, i decided to go to school to learn more and i was disappointed in my findings. It is very hard to find the exact remedy because we all have had past suppressions from using allopathic drugs, like steriod, antibiotic... or other alterative modalities such as acupuncture, TCM ... which can distort the disease picture. And when you are on a remedy, depend upon ones sensitivities, the remedy can easily be antidoted. It could be something simple like coffee, minty toothpaste, any strong scents .... or something strong like menthol, tea tree, antibiotic, chinese herbs .... These are all very common items that we come in contact with. I was so paranoid when i was on a remedy, always concern that i may antidote it by accident. And then, there is the aggravation. Although it doesn't happen to everyone, aggravation should be short & brief, but it is not always the case. If someone has a chronic illness that have changed over time, it is not always comfortable for the patient to reexperience it, esp the aggravation didn't go away quickly and stayed instead, like it happened to me. Who would want some painful illness returned?! Chronic institution remedy is powerful & goes deep, it can cause new symptoms to come up that you have not had in the past if your homeopath is not careful. Another problem in finding the correct remedy is that over time, our miasms have become complicated and often time it is hard to narrow it down. I am not saying homeopath does not work. i just think that it is difficult to find the correct remedy due to our miasms and past suppressions. And it can be easily antidoted for some. With homeopathy, things or symptoms are not clear cut and it depends alot on your homeopath for interpretation. IMO, homepathic medicine works well on acute situations because it does not go deep. It could be fast & effective. Also, it would work well in 3rd world countries where people don't have access to allopathic drugs and don't have a high chance of coming into contact with antidote things.

do tics ever suddenly get nonstop in tS?
patty replied to eljomom's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
it must be frustrating to have soo many issues at once and not knowing the exact cause. you may want to try NAET for tics & OCD. it has helped my kids tremendously and it is noninvasive. NAET works well for tics if it is allergy induced. As for OCD, NAET can also treat emotions. i think it is worth a try. good luck! Pat -
i also want to add homeopathy may be a miracle cure for some it can also be destrcutive for some as well. if a remedy is powerful enouch to cure it is also powerful enough to harm. there is a misconception that these remedies are harmless. it is absolutely not true! i was so intrique by it, i became a patient and started studying homeopathy. what i have learned is that if you are interest in this modality, find a good classical homeopath. don't be fooled that if he/she is a MD, NP, it really doesn't mean that they know homeopathy because it is a completely different school of thought & practice. My son & I both had terrible aggravations from using homeopathic remedies, from different doctors. I would use it for acute situations if i have to, but not for anything chronic for me & my family. Chronic remedies go deep, so be extra careful. Pat

Chemar, Can u elaborate on the problems that chia seeds are causing? Anyone with neurological problems? Thx! Pat -
Just want to let you guys know that NAET can also treat emotional issues. As i have posted earlier, my daughter had a sudden onset (7/4/11) of anxiety, OCD, phobias which prevented her from eating, going to places, going inside places, touching anything, separation anxiety.... She was debilitated initially, so much so that i almost had to take her to children's hospital because she was hungry and couldnt eat more than a few bites of food all day. By the 5th day, she lost weight, hungry and no energy. So instead of taking her to the hospital, i decided to go to our NP for NAET. We used NAET to treat my daughter's various emotions, worry, scare, digust, germaphobia, self-doubt....just to name a few, and now she is able to go back to school this Monday. She still have all of the above symptoms i mentioned but to a much lesser degree, and now she is able to go back to school. NAET has helped both my kids tremendously. Just want to spread the word. lele, i have written much about how my son has benefited from NAET, and now my daughter. If ur son is allergic or sensitive to MSG, NAET is a good option for desensitizing him from it. It is noninvasive and u don't have to take anything. Pat

could that be allergy induced? anythings comes out? If it is allergy induced that try quercetin. Pat

My son had mixed results from chiropractors. His 1st chirop actually helped w/his neck tic, the 2nd made it worse about 10 minutes after each adjmt, not only he had neck tic, but also body & vocal tics. Usually it would subside w/in a day. His 3rd chirop who we saw for about 7 mos made his motor & vocal tics worse at times, but it would usu settled down in a few days. Overall, his tics did get alittle better along w/his sensory issues w/the 3rd chirop. We had to stop adjmt because my son started to get neck pain and headache. Not sure if it was due to chirop, but the pain would trigger his neck tics. I figure once i start to feel uncomfortable, i should follow my gut - so we stopped. Pat

I am on the wrong thread, but can any suggest what to do for a 9 yr girl w/anxiety to eating and phobia about eating, touching things, watching tv....? My daughter who has had some mild transcient tics had a sudden onset of major anxiety. She is suddenly afraid to eat for she thinks the food may get her sick. If she drops or touch the food w/her hand, she would not eat it. I was able to distract her by letting her watch tv, so she can eat. And now, it is not quit working and after she eats alittle bit, her stomach hurts and need to go number 2. I took her to Target and she didn't want to touch anything. I tried putting magnesium creme on her to relax her and she refused for she things it will get her sick. The only thing i can think of is that she took a small sip of the chia seed drink that i made for myself few days ago. After she took a sip, she said it increased her heart rate and felt warm. The symptom came as quickly as it went. Two days later, i took her to see her ND & muscle tested her touching the chia seed and she had the same symptom. And that went away 2 hours later. Then 2 days later, she woke up fine, ate breakfast, and by lunch she is a changed person. I see the phobia increasing, now she can't step on the carpet, fear for the tv.... I am so heartbroken seeing her like. i wish it is me than her at least i can deal w/it. She tells me she is scare i don't blame her. If anyone know anything and have any suggestions. Pls help! Pat

I just checked in & the donation is only half way there. It really saddens me that there is such lack of enthusiasum! There are soo many questions posted, but not enough to contribute. If only everyone contribute a dollar, the goal would be met! So many have questions here, esp newbies. If we want to continue this forum it needs funding. The info here is all FREE, but there is still overhead expenses to maintain it. This forum provides invaluable info that often times even the drs. can't provide. Let's keep this going for the new comers so they too can become empowered and make a difference in their children's lives! Pat

This forum has meant everything to me! It has changed my son's quality of life & it provided valuable info that i couldn't get from conventional doctors. I can go on & on about the benefits i have gotton, but i think we all know what i am talking about. To keep this forum (information, suppport, leads...), we must all do our part. I don't know about you, but i have saved thousands of dollars on medical bills from this forum, not to mention my sanity. It is time to do your part. This forum is close to heart to soo many, can you imagine going forward without this forum? I have been on this forum since 2006 and my son is virtually symptoms free for a couple of years now (thanks to ACN), so i don't log on as much. But i would still like to see this forum thrive, so people who come after me can benefit from it like it has benefited me. I know the pain & suffering it has caused me when my son had his initial onset, and i don't wish that upon anyone. The donation that we make today can mean such a difference to those who are seeking alternative help and those who are coming after. If we don't keep this forum alive, many would not know there are alternative treatments available. Pat

my son used to have neck pain that would trigger his neck tic. he got cranialsacral therapy from his ND & it has helped w/the neck pain & the tic. as for my daughter, on occassion, she get neck & back pain and it would cause her to neck & back stretch. she is currently seeing her ND for CST as well. for her it comes & goes, so i suspect she also has some form of transitant tic. have u try inositol? it helps w/ tics & OCDs. pat

TS Doctor in the Bay Area (Oakland, Berkeley, CA)
patty replied to nola's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Nola, My son sees 2 NP drs., one in Palo Alto for CST and one in Burlingame for NAET. Since my son's tics are allergy induced, he has benefited from NAET. When i first started treatment for my son, my intention was to address his overall health issue, allegies & asthma, then later discovered that it is all part of the same pictures. I know both drs has had tic patients, but not many. And they are not TS drs. When my son had a bad neck tic, the CST helped tremendously. If you are interested in the drs., PM me and i will forward the info to you. Pat -
I would stay away from using any form of steriod. Even using albuterol can aggravate tics. To control allergy, if it is food, do not eat it. If it is airborne, use a HEPA air filter in the room. Try quercetin, it has worked wonders for my kids' nasal allergies. Also, use neti pot to irrigate the nasal passage. My son has been treated w/NAET for the past 5 years and he has a higher threshold for allergens. Things he couldn't eat, now he can have it in moderation w/o tics. His environmental allergy has also improved. Also, increase antioxidant via diet, more fresh fruits & vegetables is very helpful to reduce inflammation. pat

Doesn't the shipping & handling cancel out the savings? Try Asian Market rice pasta, made out from water & rice. It is about $1 per pd. & so many varities & it taste WAY better. It is great in soup. Specialty organic food is soo expensive. I am always looking at different ways to cut our grocery bill. Pat

Been craving grapes, but unable to find organic ones. The nonorganic ones at the store produced by Dole, labelled sulfer dioxide on grapes to preserve freshness. I couldn't believe it, not only it is highly spray but this!! Can this be wash off? Pat

Thx for your reply mommyfor4. I hear you w/the supplements. It gets expensive. Not to mention the dr. bills... pat

Nola, i read that you have used homeopathic remedies and now switched to another homeopath. i was intrigued w/homopathic philosphy and have tried it on my son thru our 1st NP. It was the Unda #s (combination remedy) and it made my son's tics worse. I tried it at least 2X and were not happy w/the result. I was later drawn to homeopathy because it helped me w/my anxiety so i started homeopathic school and hope to find out more to help my son. I have completely 1 year and stop 1/3 way thru my 2nd year. Also, i have tried 2 homepaths for 2 years for my personal emotional & physical problems. So i feel pretty comfortable to voice my opinion. IMO, i would stop homeopathic remedies. it is not true that it has no side affects. If something is powerful enough to cure, it has the power to cause harm. It spiked my son's tics and added new ones. As for myself, i have experience worsening of my symptoms when i was not on my exact remedy. In fact, it is very hard to hit the exact remedy, i have tried about 7/8 and still have not found my remedy. I have not tried homeopathic remedy for my son after what i learned from school & as a patient. Mainly because the remedy can cause aggravation and bring up old health issues. My son has a pretty complex health issues, like asthma, allergy, acid reflux, sensory, & mild OCD, and have used chinese medicines, steriod, acupuncture which in homeopathic study, these modalities can be suppressive and creats obstacle to cure. Also, by using the wrong remedy w/high potency, it can make symptoms worse. Homeopathic remedy is energetic and it can go deep w/the wrong potency. i don't think it is the best modality to start with. Pat

Hi all, i am trying to cut back on our expenses, and "my grocery" expense for the month is about $700 a month for a family of 4. i make breakfast, lunch & dinner daily. my husband brings lunch 2X/week and buys the rest of the week. also, we eat out once a week. Does $700 seem reasonable? I tried to make most everything from scratch and shop around for the best prices between Wholefoods, Trader Joes, Costco, local health food stores & local farmers market. If anyone has any frugal ideas, pls share. I tried to ask some of my friends but they don't share the same shopping concern i have w/food, buy organic, wild fish, & free from additives. Pat

My son had a sudden onset of tics when he just turned 6 in kindergarten and now he is 11. Based on my son, the wax & wane was spardic initially. But as we get more into our treatment protocol and going thru trial of errors, his tics did become more manageable and the wax & wane period gets farther apart and less severe. It does get better over time. If your child has a sudden spike and no change in diet or routine, it could be environmental allergy induced. My son has enviromental allergies and it triggers his tics.
