I have been advised by a doctor to give my son, who presented with thyroid irregularity, 200mcg selenium to help with iodine absorption. I also gave it to DD with Pans ONCE. She has reacted to it with sweating, insomnia and difficulty speaking for 2 days. Although it is over, and I think she is better than before, I would like to get input here. Selenium is known to be a mild mercury chelator. While this is a good thing, I think her reaction was to circulating mercury, which hopefully got out by now. Question is: Should we continue giving this, if the immediate results are no good, for the long term good? Has anybody had any experience with this particular supplement and these reactions?

My son w PANDAS is much better – what we did
bws1565 replied to MC2's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
The one thing that I can't get over is the police escort to the hospital..... We had serious issues getting blood drawn. We needed 4 people to hold her down. Although PANDAS wise she is much better, this is one issue that we cannot get past. We will need some bloodwork soon. Any ideas? I think the perceived fear is greater than the pain..... -
OCD flare according to PANS "non-believers"
bws1565 replied to momslove's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Since the most serotin in the body is not in the brain, it is in the gut, I would try to give a high dose of probiotics. I've seen it seriously work; and definitely no harm to that. -
Tics without any other symptom? Please check out Mercury or Aluminum toxicity.

Uncontrollable yelling! Is it yeast flare?
bws1565 replied to xh1688's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I have seen, time and time again that there are very good supplements out there which release the toxins or bacteria from the tissue into the bloodstream for the body to get rid of. Although this is a good thing some children cannot handle the release. It is very important to make sure they get out, even using enemas if necessary. If the child's body is too weak to get rid of the released toxins, you will have some very severe reactions. Laxatives and other interventions might be necessary even if the child is pretty regular. -
New to PANDAS and have a million questions
bws1565 replied to OhioDad's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I would highly recommend vitamin Blis K12 from the company NOW to treat tic Pandas. It is an oral probiotic. good tasting, and really helps. Kids need to take it about 4 times daily. -
Flu shot? What do leading docs say?
bws1565 replied to kristin0713's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I would not do the flu shot, and that is MY own opinion not that of a doctor. The flu shot is the most highly controversial vaccine, with the most annual injuries reported. Besides that, you have to pray, that it should be good match for the circulating strain. With that being said, preventing the flu with high doses of vitamin D, is in my opinion, a much better bet. Check out Dr. Sherry Tenpenny's video. "Flu and the Flu Vaccine: Whats coming through the needle". -

Hi, I can definitely relate to these staring spells. They could be absence seizures. They can also be related to Bartonella. Have you ever looked into tic borne diseases?

Anyone did Suprax for treating Bartonella?
bws1565 replied to xh1688's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Suprax is not new on the market. It is at least 25 years old. -
Recently learnt about mucoid plaque, a buildup of trash on the colon wall, that would prevent proper healing, and can even cause psychiatric trouble. Seems to me that some family members of mine might be dealing with this. Does anybody have any ideas how to correct this? I learnt about apple cider vinegar, but am looking for more information. Thank you,

Just my input here. Try Blis K12 from the co NOW. I know someone who has had great success with strep related tics with this vitamin. It is an oral probiotic meant to help for strep. Just keep in mind, it is extremely important also to have regular bowel movements. Miralax daily would be a good idea.

Lyme Test interpretation using Med Diagnostics Lab
bws1565 replied to kam2017's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Somebody once posted here that the results could be read like a pregnancy test. Is a slight positive not fully positive?? -
I wish I would have known more about LYME. My DD symptoms matched Pandas, but she was eventually dx'ed with Lyme/Bartonella. In her case bartonella caused the bulk of the troubles with a weakened immune system due to lyme, inhibiting her recovery. Amoxicillin is the first in line for Lyme, or doxycycline for older kids, so if your kid has Lyme the antibiotic will help for the first while

Wondering about your OspC. To quote Dr. Horowitz, "Borrelia specific bands reflect outer surface proteins on the surface of the organism that are seen more often in Lyme disease than in other infections. These bands include the following five proteins, each with different molecular weights (31, 34, 39, and 83-93) If any of these bands are present on a western blot, there is a high likelihood that the patient has been exposed to Lyme disease, especially with the right clinical symptomatology........." He also believes that "Lyme disease is a clinical diagnosis, and lab results serve to support the clinical diagnosis"...... Basically, a negative blood result would not indicate no Lyme. Also read in Cure Unknown, about the most accurate lyme indicating outer surface proteins that were removed from the lab testing, because of a trial to produce a vaccine.. and if these proteins were used, vaccinated persons would always test positive, even if no lyme were to be present. I don't know which ones they are though.

Non specific Anorexia present
bws1565 replied to Hitman3161's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I don't know that. Our DD was dx with Pandas, but was corrected to Lyme/Bart 5 years later. I think her zinc deficiency was part of immune dysfunction with her body being overly stressed by Lyme. -
Non specific Anorexia present
bws1565 replied to Hitman3161's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
This might be related to zinc deficiency. Our DD food symptoms were greatly improved when she was taking zinc supplements. -
Pneumonia Vaccine? Yes or no??
bws1565 replied to HopeinHIM's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I would not. I've had enough of vaccines. You can always decide to vaccinate later if you have to. -
Through Health Kinesiology, we have been told that our daughter's hypothalamus is weak. Checking up online, all of the symptoms match! I have never found a cause for her very poor appetite. Hypothalamus controls hunger and satiety.....It also controls the thyroid and adrenals. That would explain anxiety, and low evergy... etc etc. Has anyone ever been told the same diagnosis, and what can be done to help this?? (Even with a regular MD?)

Med or method to avoid panic attack for blood draw?
bws1565 replied to GoodLuckIris's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
We went through this. Unfortunately, we needed to have 4 people hold her down to get a blood draw for lyme, and haven't done any since. However, I was advised to give Klonopin to help out. I never tried it though. What is the reason that our kids are so afraid of needles?? -
Has anyone, or their child who has lyme been told that they have liver issues?

Has anybody ever tried to do an emotional correction? I took my daughter to a practitioner. She figures out with light touch, what is wrong physically, emotionally, mentally etc. through applied kinesiology, health kinesiology, one brain and other mediums. I did not tell her one word and she figured all out on her own!! All emotional and physical issues.... The reaction to the correction was startling, it was pretty severe. But once it has all passed, I think we are seeing progress. If anybody knows more about this, I would love to hear it......
