oh Brink I do feel for you we dealt with psychotic episodes induced by meds in my son so I really sympathize maybe time to find a new psych? my prayers are lifted for you and son as I remember how my son was truly terrified of the uncontrolled "crazy" stuff brought on by the meds.
-
Hi Brink I see mrsD has provided info for you on this http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread84246.html it really is a side effect to take very seriously IMO hope things come under control quickly
-
Hi Brink I dont know anything about that med but the situation sounds very serious to me. I have heard reports like that about meds like ambien etc I would highly recommend you ask this question at the Medications forum on NeuroTalk as mrsD and others there may have info for you http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum72.html

"Caramel color" derived from sugar? & allergies?
Chemar replied to ilovedogs's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
some caramel color is derived from corn syrup and so those with corn sensitivity or concern re GM corn should be careful we have used organic products with natural sugar caramel color and not had problems with those -
Put on your tinfoil hats - Nystatin "cures" TS?
Chemar replied to guy123's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Melanie if Danny has had a lot of antibiotics, that can result in fungal overgrowth in various places including the candida skin fungal infections can be contagious -
hi Char samE is primarily used for mood and pain issues, and is also excellent for the liver. it contains methionine that is really helpful for these. I have not heard of it being used for tics per se but the result of calming mood/OCD issues has always brought tic relief for my son I personally wouldnt use anything with yellow coloring in it....red and yellow food dyes set my son off big time the store should take it back for refund as that is IMO deceptive of the makers to splash the free of artificials on it and then add a chemical coloring there are definitely samE brands that are pure...

The act of eating sets my daughter off
Chemar replied to jenpen's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
it is also noted in a number of places that kids with Tourette Syndrome seem to have tics triggered with anything related to teeth/jaw so this may be the reason we had to use a special pediatric dentist familiar with this as tooth stuff has always triggered tics for my son (he tested -ve on all strep tests) I havent noticed a correlation of eating and tics with my son tho -
hi Abbe yes we used chlorella to help mop up mercury from my son's system i havent heard of it being used for yeast tho?? havent heard of that machine either...that sounds very interesting! getting rid of the candida"yeast" really made a major difference for our whole family

((((((((((((Melanie)))))))))))))) that sounds like the neuro who emotionally blackmailed us into starting the neuroleptics and how infuriating that she even admitted that it would be a cycle of meds to relieve side effects of other meds if it were me I would fire that doc

with respect myrose, my son came out of a pool one day and had such intense tics that he started whiplash and totally knocked his atlas vertebra out, requiring intensive chiro and orthopedic care that was when HE decided no more pools that doesnt mean every kid with tics is sensitive to chlorine, and I am delighted for your daughter that she is ok with it, but it is wise to be aware of potential triggers IMO till one is sure that they are not going to be a problem
-
chlorine is a major tic trigger for my son and he stopped using swimming pools some years back. it didnt seem to matter whether the pool had just been treated or not. I also avoid chlorine in household/laundry cleaners we also noticed showers would trigger and since we added filters to the shower heads that is improved

hi myrose as Topamax is rx as a EPILEPSY drug, one could see why an epileptic pregnant woman would still be on her medication although being on any med during pregnancy isnt a good idea IMO...sometimes the mother's own health requires it. hopefully some of the other E drugs are safer during pregnancy I think more information on what mechanism in the topamax may cause birth defects is a valid point for anyone using it to consider tho

page 3 of the following link has the detailed list of side effects from the manufacturer's data http://www.rxlist.com/topamax-drug.htm webMD health news has the following which I find of concern!! http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=91442

Hi fish oil seems to trigger tics for many.....when it does, flaxseed oil may be a better source of important omega 3 IF your child has lactose intolerance then possibly the magnesium lactate is not the right form of magnesium to use for tics magnesium taurate seems to be a good option (as long as person is ok with taurine) Natural Calm (and Kids Calm) that is used by many here is magnesium citrate and seems well tolerated at regular does. too much gives loose stools Magnesium glycinate also seems well tolerated magnesium oxide is very poorly absorbed so one needs a lot of that to reach optimum levels

Why are long term antibiotics safe?
Chemar replied to bronxmom2's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I wanted to follow up on this re antibiotics and mitochondria damage with what mrsD posted at NeuroTalk not sure what the validity of any of that may be for anyone here but felt it important to mention as it is always IMO good to be informed on any potential side effects and then make best decisions based on balanced knowledge. -
I dont have research links, but will try to get them from mrsD or ask her to post about the research...but apparently there is some suggestion from recent studies that antibiotics *MAY* have negative effects on cell mitochondria. I have emphasized the *may* as I dont want to ignite panic. These are early studies I believe. I will try to get the info asap I wanted to follow up on this re antibiotics and mitochondria damage with the links mrsD posted at NeuroTalk and what she commented http://www.autism.com/medical/research/adv...antibiotics.htm http://www.sciencenews.org/view/feature/id...ondria_Gone_Bad

article from 2005...tourettes/strep/ocd
Chemar replied to EAMom's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
we had throat cultures done as well as the blood titres all negative we had the throat cultures when my oldest had strep and when sore throats the pediatrician did them routinely as in Florida there is a lot of strep at school the titres were done under dr Murphy at Shands after his explosive onset of tics/OCD she also did throat cultures then
