  1. Hi and welcome. There are a number of posts here on braces (and indeed dental work per se, as was the case with my son) aggravating tics for various reasons, including metal sensitivity and also TMJ issues. There are some people with tics that seem TMJ related, and who have been helped by specialized mouthpieces It's not an area I know enough about to comment much, but hopefully if you do some searches here you'll find the other info, and perhaps others with more knowledge can assist you
  2. Hi I have heard pretty good reports on both the HEPA filters and also anti-dander shampoos At least it's a great start to trying to eliminate triggers without the major trigger of having to say goodbye to the puppy! Also, working on getting the immune system well functioning and balanced might be beneficial. And trying some of the other nutritional etc protocols that others have found helpful here. Eliminating the artificial and junk in diet helps avoid any of those triggers and the less overall triggers, the better his system will cope. I am a strong believer in the detoxing value of epsom salts baths, and also the effect of the lotion (now made by Morton's as well...Walgreens, Walmarts etc) I do hope things stabilize soon for your son. Kudos to you for looking into all this!
  3. Hi I am just bumping up your new thread so others can respond
  4. Hi pdez I am so glad you have ordered Sheila's book as it is a wonderful resource and reference. Do take a look at the threads pinned to the top of this forum, especially the one for Helpful Threads as there is a lot of good info there. Also, a search here will bring up a lot of info re the impact of screens on some people with tics I am not sure that posting on the PANS forum is relevant to you if there is no infection connection to the tics? The parents there are specifically focussed on the treatments for PANS/PANDAS, and so it may be more confusing than helpful imo...unless of course you suspect a possible infection like strep or other might have been the cause of the tics?
  5. Hi I would suggest posting this on our PANDAS forum as the parents there can give you more information. Often PANS can follow what you describe, and those routine tests may not be detecting things correctly. http://latitudes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=17
  6. Hi Sorry to post on the run but just wanted to suggest you consider getting Sheila's book asap as a reference resource http://latitudes.org/store/natural-treatments-for-tics-and-tourette-syndrome-book/ Here too is our "Helpful Threads" section http://latitudes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2459 I will try to post more later and hope you find answers to help your child.
  7. Hi Sorry not replies yet. We found magnesium very helpful for tics and used it both orally as well as transdermally in the form of Epsom Salts baths There is now a great Magnesium lotion made by Mortons available at Walgreens and some Walmarts

  9. Hi Mattysmom Sorry to hear your son's tics are so intense! My son did find great benefit from careful chiropracty and acupuncture. An epsom salts bath (Magnesium sulphate) is also very soothing to the muscles and joints when tics have caused pain. 2 cups epsom salts in tub of warm water. soak 15-20 min then bed is what we were advised. There is also a Morton's Epsom Lotion (Walgreens and Walmarts) that is very soothing We did find clean diet and careful supplementation essential Here is some helpful info http://latitudes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2459 Hope things stabilize soon!
  10. Hi I just wanted to welcome you and bump your post up in case anyone might have some input.
  11. Hi It was the opposite for us. When my son first started wearing glasses, his eye tics were greatly improved and remained so. We used daylight lamps to reduce glare and flash/flicker from screens and that helped a lot too.

  16. Hi and welcome I see you posted on our PANS forum too, which is good as whenever there is rapid onset after illness/infection/inflammation, that is always an avenue to explore. Please do also take a look at the Helpful Threads section pinned to the top of this forum. Hoping you find answers to help your son
