  1. Hi itsme, I have read that people who suffer plant allergies have had relief with aromatherapy oils. I believe having them in your bath with steam helps to loosen mucus, or diffused into the air. If you have a local store who carry aromatherapy oils maybe they could help you choose a good oil that will help. Take care, C.P.
  2. OK all , I was having a hard time finding Tarentula homeopathy to even run it past you all. Son's Dr. said it has had some good results treating TS. I found a book at the library and low and behold Tarentula is listed to treat Restless Legs Syndrome. I have not had any luck finding info on Tarentula and TS. Does anyone have info on this? I told the Dr. I was worried about some kind of die-off effect using it, and she said to have him smell cempher (sp?) it would reverse the die-off. Have you all heard of this? Thanks all, C.P.
  3. His Dr. ordered them all. The only thing she was concerned about was... was it too much money. I think it broke her heart to hear my son screeming. I went in there not knowing much. She also asked for all his medical records to be faxed to her, and she kept and studied the allergy tests I had done. I'll be praying for you that you fine a great Dr. C.P.
  4. SPartan32, I asked my husband at what age did he feel he gained weight. (he started ticcing at age 10 too.) He remembers around age 27. He was always a very thin young man. My son seems to be taking after him in that area too. The only thing he remember that bulked up on him was a neck roll he did in high school. (I guess football players do this) To this day he has a very large neck, he also has a large chest and shoulders. He does workout with weights and jogging. He looks nothing like this in his late teens and early twenties. His brother tells me he boxed so much as a kid his punching bag was in threads when it was finally thrown out. That workout didn't seem to help him bulk up either. C.P.
  5. Diarrhea is usually the first sign of too much magnesium. I have not read any toxicity unless one would have a kidney disease. Someone on heart medication would not want to supplement mag unless a Dr. instructed them to. Give her small amounts to start then build up. if no dierrhea, your fine. I'm not up on the labs, all of my son's had to have a Dr. order them. C.P.
  6. Caryn, Thanks for sharing that. If all is going well this summer I'm going to try corn on the cob with him, just to see what happens. C.P.
  7. Patty, Every spring my son would sound plugged up. That was all we ever noticed as a possable allergy to something in the spring time. He had NO other allergy systems (watery eyes, itchy throat ect...) He only tested allergic to pecan trees and goldenrod. This spring is the first time he has not sounded plugged up. Also every spring he would be eaten up by bugs for a few weeks. It was like the bugs would come out of winter hibernation and attack my son. We could never find what bug would leave such huge welts on his legs. Well this spring he has had not one bite. Go figure? In the fall he would not sound plugged with the glodenrod, so I would not have ever known he was allergic to it until we tested. I will be very interested to see how things pan out this Aug. ( read the raw milk was to help with allergies too.) He has only been drinking it for 3 months though. C.P.
  8. Patty I read once if you hard boil eggs to save the water for your garden.(full of minerals) Aquarium water is excellent fertilizer too. (what are the chances you have an aquarium?) C.P.
  9. Thanks guys, bmom, when my husband asked our sales lady about the maltodextrin she also said it was corn. (son can't do corn either) Thanks for confirming this for me. Lukesmom, I have that book too, and didn't remember reading that.(must have been in my completely losing it stage. Thanks for pointing that out. What drives me crazy is why would the FDA allow MSG under a whole host of other names???? C.P.
  10. Kim, Don't know if you have a field of flowers on a couple acres of land were talking about here. But if not try pouring boiling hot water on the dandelions. It would kill the grass too, but grass pop up quickly if you sprinkle areas with seed, and cover with grass glippings. Worth a try... yah? C.P.
  11. Patty, I buy the Filippo Berio (extra virgin) at costco. (big bottle 101 fl oz) It lasts forever. (so many uses too) I have very dry skin, and the olive oil does not leave my skin oily. (not sure for someone with normal skin type) My son has dry skin in the winter. Good question about the omega 3 absorbed into the skin. C.P.
  12. Welcome Jane, I can't help you with the questions about shipping costs, but I wanted to welcome you. My son was dx about 14 months ago too, and he is 13 also. I found the Natural Calm to be what started the ball rolling in the right direction for him. He also tics more with stress and when he is tired. My son does not have OCD though. If you can I would try some B6 also that has had a wonderful effect on my son. I believe that is because his test results say he has an impaired trypotohan metabolism. Trypyophan is in meat and turns into serotonin in the brain. Serotonin helps to avoid agitated feelings. B6 helps the tryptophan to convert to serotonin. I hope this helps a little. I know everyone is different and what has helped my son may not be what yours needs, but maybe the Magesium & B6 support will help with the stress. Lowering the stress in my son's life has been a blessing. Good Luck, C.P.
  13. Tricia, I'm glad I have some one to ask what is the maltodextrin in the children chewables? Maltodextrin is listed as a hidden MSG word. Also natural flavors. Our Dr said, "Stay away from foods with these names, as MSG is toxic to the brain." Thanks C.P.
  14. Hey Patty, We use 365's olive aloe hand soap, got that at Whole Foods. I use straight olive oil as lotion. I really like it as the last step of the bath. I'm hoping it traps the epsom salts on the skin with the layer of oil. (soft skin and continued mag support after the bath is over.) We use Seventh Generation laundry soap, but I cut the full load dose in half and add a cup of baking soda. (buy the big bag of baking soda at Costco) I use 2 parts baking soda, and 1 part borax, and 1 part hot water to clean my porcelain sinks and tubs. window cleaner- 1 part water 1 part vinegar works great. Put it into a spray bottle it lasts a long time. I don't have carpet, but I read club soda gets out emergency spills. pour it on spot and blot with a clean rag. Clean wood floors with tea- Brew 1 qt of boiling water with 1-2 tea bags, let it come to room temp. wring out clean cloth to damp and wipe floor. (tannic acid in the tea is good for the wood) Furniture polish- 1 cup olive oil 1/4 cup lemon juice. I really like this one no smelly sprays.( have to shoo the dog she likes to lick the chair legs when I use the olive oil) Also buy the huge bottle of olive oil from costco. Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day, C.P.
  15. Lenny, I never gave my son food out for almost a year. We decided to give him a Burger King burger (no fries) and he had no problem. He also eats at Subway with no problem. Have not tried pizza yet. If they have MSG my son didn't react. Last year when he was at his worse it seemed he reacted to, FOOD PERIOD!! Good luck I hope this does not last too long. C.P.
  16. Hey Faith, Our son also had no noticable reaction to vaccines before the last set. (given at age 12) bam he exploded about 6 weeks later. I never had him get the flu shots. I'm sure the vaccines on top of puberty, is the cause of the explosion. The vaccines have got to be the main cause, or I would have noticed ticcing as a problem before that time. Last Fall his screeming tic on the ball field was unbelievable. This spring, not one parent can tell he has TS. C.P.
  17. Hey Luke'smom, My 15 year old had to stop with the nail polish, she wasn't happy either, but it was only about a week of boo- hooing. She got over it, now she is happy her nails are not yellow. C.P.
  18. Hey Patty, I use hand soap as shampoo for my son. It works, and I like the few ingredients. I think you are right about costing more just to make more money. C.P.
  19. Just wanted to share a story. I met a woman about 2 months ago and she said she had 8 children. (homeschooled) The oldest 3 she had vaccinated, the other 5 were not. The oldest 3 were and still are the sickest out of the 8. They got the ear infections, they have allergies, and they get a lot more colds and flu then the 5 who were not vaccinated. I thought this was a good finding since they were all from the same family. She also said she did send them to private school too, they were better about her choice not to vaccinate the other 5. C.P.
  20. Good morning Patty, Go onto the Weston A. Price Foundation There is a subject on real milk. Click onto campaign for real milk. Then click onto (where) Then click onto sources of real milk in USA. Then find your state. There will be a list of farms, hopefully one near your home. Here is another recipe, Creamy tomato herb 1/3 C safflower oil 1 large or 2 medium tomatoes 1-1/2 tsp dried terragon (or basil)( or oregano) which ever taste you like best. 1 to 1-1/2 tsp sea salt Chop tomatoes, choose your herb. Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Blend on high until the dressing is very smooth and creamy. (not grainy) Keeps for a day in refrigerator. Again freeze leftovers C.P.
  21. Welcome Sky, Glad you are hear, and might I add you are a great caring mom, thinking about him and not focusing on the tics. I wish I had done that. I do believe the shots were a trigger, but maybe that won't last long. My son did not have a problem with the shots when he was young. Maybe your son's immune system was weakend because of the strep, and the shot was just piggybacking on a strained immune system. So today is the first day since last Thursday you noticed a decrease in tics? I would have the titers for PANDAS done just to rule it out. You sound like you have it together, and are making great choices. Have you tried the epsom salts baths yet? I would love to know if you have, and saw any change for the better in the vocals. Since my son does not have many motor tics it is hard to tell if the bathes work on the vocals. But I like how sleepy they make him. Again glad you are hear lots of good advice hear. C.P.
  22. Caryn, Thanks, That was very interesting. I guess I'll have to pray for this one. (no getting away from pollen) C.P.
  23. Hey patty, Lemon Herb Dressing (I use it to marinade meat too) 1/2 C fresh squeezed lemon 2/3 C safflower oil 1/2 tsp dried basil 1/2 tsp dried oregano 1/2 tsp dried thyme flakes 1/2 tsp dried dill 1/2 tsp dried marjoram 1 tsp sea salt 1/2 C water Mix all ingredients in a container with a lid. Shake well. Refrigerate at least 2 hours Keeps well only two days in refrigerator You can freeze in ice cube tray and defrost when needed. Enjoy, C.P.
  24. It just dawned on me, if someone is allergic to corn are they allergic to the pollen too? (hope thats not a stupid question) I was going to plant some to have for fall decorations and thought maybe I better not. It got me thinking about Faith and I seeing our sons increase in tics in Aug. My son is allergic to corn so would he be allergic to the pollen too? Faith, I don't remember if you said your son was allergic to corn? (course you did say you live in NY I guess not many stalks popping up on skyscraper rooftops huh.) We do live about 40 miles from the city and many farms grow corn here. Any thoughts? C.P.
  25. Lisa, I know what you mean. That was part of my problem I didn't know where to start or fine Drs. His Dr. fell into my lap. I was at the health food store and they gave me her card. I just looked in my phone book and could not find her under any health or well being medicine. In fact there was no one listed. She is not in under her last name either. Could someone else jump in hear and help Lisa with this question. If you have a health food store or stores close to you ask if they know of a good Dr. It did help me because they really liked this Dr. And she is very very sweet, my son loves her. She is the one who gave us the name of the farm for raw milk, gave us restaurants in the erea to eat at. Books to read, and websites. I hope that was alittle helpful. It sometimes feels like pulling teeth to find Drs. C.P.
