Yes my son also reacted to 28 foods out of 88. He was 7 and yes he was ticcing but at that time the main concern was his congestion , bags under eyes pale and tired and ticcing and basically was always sick with sinus infections. We gradually took him off of everything. I also went to an allegest and tested tk see IOC any of the foods are certain allergies and not just sensitivities. He also has all out door allergies. He was off of this food for a long time maybe a year and is still off of probably half of it today at 10. I never went back to the naturopath bc it was too expensive. I would introduce an item in minimal servings and would watch how he would react. The ones k reintroduced were sensitivitys and not really the ones I new he was actually allergic to. His congestion is way better!!! He does not take any allergy meds which is amazing since he has all outdoor allergies. Limit one item per week and just watch what happens. He is allergic to milk but can now tolerate cheese occasionally without getting congested he couldn't do this before. He was doing so well. He is now ticcing a lot and the last couple of weeks has been cheating a lot so don't know if that's the cause or what. Overall I think the diet helped bc don't even want to know what he would be like without it. We also limit dyes and preservatives. Good luck and j hope you notice a difference. Mar

And yes he is a rebel!! If I could show you guys how he rides his quad since 5 which brings him peace!! That is something that relaxes him and gives me much stress! Mar

Crazy. He tells me it was 15 slices. Anyway he also ate fries from sonic b/c his friend had them and he has had ones from a different place at one time and assumed its ok. He is sensitive to soy!! So of course I'm like I guess it won't kill him and I would be very uncool to start saying no!! Ugh!!! He has not gas fries for three years prior. He reacted to soy flour couple of years ago with ton of congestion and misery but no congestion eith the fries but her we go this whole weekend he is ticcing like crazy! Had cheese at birthday family b-day party on sun. And snuck grapes. Sleep over there with a dog in the house (allergic). But did fine in the past. He is emotional, crabby and doing multiple tics!! I have been giving him the mag these last three days bc he is begging for it!! He saids he feels very hyper and it helps. So today j said your done we need to gk back on diet. He agreed. I asked today if he is feeling ok and he got emotional and said its just my habbits ( which is what we used when he was younger). I said ok and he's like no you don't understand! You guys keep asking me and basically wants to be left alone. I just feel so bad for him right now bc he is doing at least three tics at a time!!! He is getting older and stressing out more. I do understand bc DH tics. I know j should just let him be but can anyone suggest on how I could talk to a 10 1/2 yr old about his dad having this and how much sk k explain or do k stick to its habits. I hate tk see him struggle Mar!

Very interesting and annoying!!! What will I do with this child:) so he has a friend over today, a friend who shares lunch period with him. Let me just say ds is sensitive to oranges and all citrus foods. Pineapples used to make his lips flear up. I have been letting him have a clementine here and there and certain type of oranges without issues. Just want extra boost of vitamin c this time of year. So his friend starts cracking up and saying remember when you went around the lunchroom and got like 14 oranges and had your mouth covered trying to eat them all and trying to make orange juice out of them !! That was funny! ds looks over at me and says your exaggerating ok the friend says ag least 10. So I'm like was this today. No he says a couple of days ago. So this is why he came home with red lips and face and acting all hyper. He was freaking probably stressed that he was hiding this from me. And then would explain why he comes home one day with red lips and face!!!! So here is me wondering about sickness and what not but this is the reason. I need to have a talk with him tommorow! This has to be the reason bc his lips got better within two days. I just canf believe he did this! I need to have his friend come over every week to see what I can learn!! Very interesting!!!!! Mar

I should mention that he got a comilian ( lizard cannot spell) for Christmas. He has a bearded dragon but never handles it. But handles this one a lot and I stress washi v hands bc of selmonella. So he has been stressed about that. Why is it if j mention something and judge make sure DH washing hands after he dwells and worries and goes into crazy mode. I don't know how else to explain it. He asks tons of questions and worries about it. So this could up lead up to it. Mar

I have had a cold I the last five days feeling better. But ds who seems fine comes home yesterday just more wired. He walks in with his lips red and seems real hyper. I can tell he is stressed or something.. He has a lot of energy and is talking a lot about different topics. He is emotional at times. So he tells me that his teacher said that the environment is changing and that we might not get snow ( his dad got a snowmobile which was no cost to us) and he thinks we will never get snow. Then he blames that pollution is messing everything up. Then they have been talking about aliens and his teacher said their real. Then he mentions a door in his school bathroom that janitors go into and he seen cigarette buds which means they are smoking in the school. He was going to say something but did not want to get in trouble of going into the room. I told him to stay out but he is not listening. So yesterday he is telling me he is hyper. Yes I see that and it's taking a long time to do homework. So he comes home today with lips looking better but still is very hyper. He keeps talking about everything and anything. He said that he feels Like he has to keep talking. He is pulling out mag out of cabinet and saying why don't I give him this anymore and basically he is wired. He is ticcing some but that's normal. Could the topics at school be causes this stress or do u believe it's sickness? He saids that his teacher said it could be the opposite of an ice age and who knows when we will see snow. He worries too much. Could worry cause all these changes or should j think sickness. Why does he stress so much??? Mar

Never have gotten the shot for myself nor have my kids ever gotten it. My option is they get so many shots that messes everything up and this is my one thing I always was against even before I became a lot more knowledgable. Me and the kids have had the flu Back when they were 5 and 2 but we survived and I hope it made them stronger bc we havent had it since. Yes I am freaking out and hoping we do not get sick. But I have been not feeling well for the fast 4 days but think its more of a cold. No body aches or fever. My dad got a flu shot which is the first for him in a decade and he got the flu. From what I have heard if seems that a lot of people who got the shot are getting the flu. Who knows. But I am one who stays away. I guess we have been fortunate with the flu but strep will come and kick our butts usually in feb. I think I am more scarred of strep then the flu. But yes I try not to watch the news bc I think they make everyone panic. I cross my fingers and hope we could get by. But j will never take or give a flu shot to children. My option of course. Mar

How many have more than one child with tics/ TS?
mar replied to laster99's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Interesting bc DH has tics and so do both are children. I do not. DH parents and his only sister do not and what what I have been told his grandparents do not and so forth. This is kind of interesting and mind boggling on where DH got this and now both of his kids have it yet no one else. Other family members do manifest some OCD and axiety but no tics. I myself wonder why him and why both the kids. Mar -

Severe and disruptive Christmas obsession
mar replied to 1tiredmama's topic in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
That sounds like a great idea for ds . But I feel like why can't dd who is only seven have that experience for a couple more years. I truely want to break it for my son after this year but I know he will ruin it for dd bc he can't keep a secret all all. He's a talker. Of course he got everything he asked for and this just sucks. I wish someone would just say something at school. He was defiantly calmer this year and family tells me he might know but just playing along. NOT I say bc I just know. I am afraid to say something bc I think it would be a huge shock to him and don't want tk see him recalling all the years of lies!! Mar -
Just curious but ds has been doing this tic for several months. It's not as severe now thank goodness but caught him every now and then . But he was obsessive with lifting his shirt to check on belly button to make sure it's not bleeding according to him. We have talked about it and he feels like its going to bleed. I purposely have touched it gently to prove him wrong and have discussed it with him but he laughts when he does it and saids it is a habbit. Mar

I would definately investigate what could be going on inside. Mold could be a huge think. Had it in a newly built home!! Also are you a candle burner or have indoor freshners going which I think is a big no. That is how I found out my ds is allergic to dogs. We were house sitting for a couple of days and he had a full blown allergy attack. Oh wow he is allergic to dogs. He would say I feel better outside. If he tells you this or you notice this it could be something in the house. I think candles, air freshners, mold of anything new that has been added. Keep digging. I guess personally to me if your child does better outside and mentions it it's worth investigating. Mar

How many have more than one child with tics/ TS?
mar replied to laster99's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Yes both of mine have tics. Ds was the first with a lot more and he was more messed up with allergies ( outdoor and food) dd started with the eyes and sniffling. Yes it Broke my heart over and over but I guess in the back of my mind I expected it. they both have completely different symptoms most of the time and ds has if worst so far. But it's there. So for us it does affect both children. Mar -
Oh my that truly reminds me of the beginning. Those days where I had no clue. My ds was suffering and I was clueless it all hit me like a brick wall . I would crawl out of bed with this hard emotion that would be impossible to continue with. Sadness! Every day was hard. I took it hard and everyday I would fight to be strong! Now I know so much more like light and day and seeing symptoms in ds and dd with the allergies and what not still brings me down but it's different then before. I have seen and believe truely it's much more. Food and diet has shown a difference and their is more. I Wake up with more if the attitude of what can I do most of the time. Everything is harsh and we all still struggle but that first feeling is awful. The sadness is somewhat different now. It Just hurt bad before and still hurts now some. I think your more prepared now. But at times it doesn't make a difference but you are stronger !

Dd gets this but only when she has a cold or is congested. She is gluten and milk free for two years now plus all dyes and preservatives bc of what we learned through her older brother. She is now seven she is classic with the sniffing tic if she has any type of runny nose which is usually due to a cold since (let me cross my fingers) she doesn't seem to have all the outdoor allergies her brother has but Wierd bc he is not a snifflier. Go figure! The sniffling goes away once she is not congested. So if he does have a runny nose or a cold that could be the reason. Mar

Curious about treatments of Ivig or pex and blood type . Both of my children are b- and I know these treatments or I assume that they deal with blood . This might sound silly but am wondering if anyone was rh negative? Trying to see if it made a difference. I know this blood type is rare so wonder about the affects of these treatments and if it Affects blood type. Is their a greater risk or any info would be great. Mar

Sorry cant answer your question. But ds was also tested low I think it was 38 back when he was 7. He was put on supplements for 6 months but he was also going through a pretty harsh elimination diet bc of all his food sensitivities and allergies so cannot state if the supplements helped. He is now 10 and am planning to get him retested for this. I do wonder if this plays a role in something. I researched it some and wonder also. I will have to see how his tests come back now. I am looking in pyroluria and it seems this might play a role. I say keep digging and you never know what you might find. Every child is different. I will let you know if he is still low and if there is anything else contributing to this. Mar

Does anyone's kids exacerbate with excitement?
mar replied to momma2sethandjiji's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Yes any type of excitement makes him more hyper. Aniexty cause flaira also with tics. Any exciting or sad info causes a flair. Mar -
Wow!!!! Thank u so much for this post!!! It's crazy but this is my ds! The whole time I am reading this my mouth is open!!! He read fine when he was younger but does not like chapter books with no pics. He has complained of headache when reading and doing too much hw at a time. He is in 5th grade. He can't read In car feels sick. I sat down with him a month ago to read his reading book bc his grades are the worst ever this year. He reads slow (his 2nd grade sister could read faster) he really seems to struggle to focus he will look away and ask where was he. I have noticed him skip a line. I complain for him to speed it up! At times he will lose consitration and look away or ask a question that does not relate to story. I feel like I am always saying pay attention! Even during hw or everyday things I am like are you listening look me in the eye and when he finally does he looks away and back and looks like he is struggling. I assumed this is lazy and being defiant. But as I read through this I was amazed. What really got me was 3 years ago when I got tests done for food through nath. Doc she said his shoulders look uneven!! This is a symptom. Also he is in all sports and will occasionally miss a ball when it is right there in front of him. He got glasses a couple of years Back for slight astigmatism. Needs them during school and tv or computer. Did this bc I wear them and was shocked bc he never complained. He said he sees the board better. Anytime it comes tk reading he struggles and tries to get away. Whether its a test to study for or homework. When he does read bc I have to force it he seems tired and always asks how long has it been so he could put his 15 min down on his log for school. Last but not least a month ago I will never forget this day me and dd were upstairs ready to read some books with pictures just to cuddle. Ds ran upstairs and jumped in. Me and dd usually read a page each and ds was ready to jump in and read his page all fast and accurate. I wondered why he was so excited to read with us and read a lot quicker. He always loved to read but when he got older and chapter books with smaller print came around his whole additude took a nose dive. He now saids he hates to read but if he is read too his ears are open! I could go on but really need to get him tested for this. It would explain. A lot!! Mar

I agree with Chemar. If you went milk free and seen some improvement but then introduced all that candy. Well I'm sure it has milk and 20 other things like she mentioned that can cause an adverse reaction. You are at the point of what where who caused all this . I. Would stay away from dyes and HFCS and candy in general if you are trying to figure out milk or anything especially when it comes to tics. Milk alone helped my ds with congestion but I believe the elimination of all dyes and preservatives helped him feel better. It's a long road but over time you will see the cause and effect. Keep trying! Mar

halloween candy, sugar and yeast
mar replied to smartyjones's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Halloween is evil! My kids run around till they drop and don't eat any of the candy. They exchange it for money so they could buy something . Anyway I get lollipops from trader joes that I give them instead. So dd had 7 ( she snuck some) and ds had the same but I'm thinging how much worse are other kids with candy on Halloween and after and it does not seem so bad . They had a lollipop in there lunch for two days bc what kid does not have tones of candy in their lunchbox the next day. But since then notice dd more hyper then usual. Bouncing and on her head. Have been giving probiotics. I wonder also is the yeast is showing up again. U Wang them to have somewhat of a normal life but u know u will pay for it. Mar -
So I just seen this in a post and looked into it. DH and dd walk this way. It this a part of pandas? Mar
