  1. That's absurd. With a bulls eye rash she should be treated right away. Have her show literature from "get it right trea the bite". Something like that - I'm away and on iPhone. She should go to a diff doc or walk in clinic until she sees an llmd. If treated early she might avoid the need for continuous abc.
  2. Thanks Mary. My daughter was positive a few times with Specialty, but when they made the change thru Quest she no longer test positive. There is no doubt in my mind we are still dealing with it though. Our Igenex was negative. How are you treating the Bart?
  3. Is the lyme test from Igenex? You can post the bands that have + next to them (ex: band 83-93 +, or 31 ++). Some bands may have the word Ind next to them. Post it as well.
  4. Mary- love hearing that! When dd was younger and we thought we were only dealing with PANDAS, our vet was so open minded to the idea of strep causing havoc. He was way more responsive then any doctor we were seeing at the time. He treated our pets and cultured them at my request - no disagreement at all. About the Galaxy Bartonella testing - I think you need to be off abx for a few weeks before testing, correct? Was your daughter's result positive? Bartonella is very elusive and difficult to test positive. Next time my dd is off abx, I would like to run the test.
  5. I wish I could attend but will be away. I agree... def would be worth it. If you go, please let us know what you learn.
  6. Wow - sign me up too, if I have any money left. I sprayed my property with cedar oil this summer. I was told it is as effective as perethimen. I hope its true.
  7. Sending prayers to both of you!!
  8. I have yet to read this book. Maybe I'll download it. Thx
  9. Was he in any prior camps? Could he have been exposed to strep? Sorry if mentioned, I skimmed the replies.
  10. My suggestions would be the same as LLM. We run the Igenex Western Blot IgM/IgG (on back of form separately) for $200. We do at times run individual co-infections through Igenex, but they are always negative. Our Bartonella testing is done through Specialty Lab/Nicholas (now ran by Quest but needs to be written to be done at their calif lab) and was positive. Bartonella is very elusive and difficult to yield a positive. I'm pretty sure the Advanced Culture is only checking for Borrelia. You could always call them to ask - they were very friendly on the phone with my questions.
  11. Would love to hear more about her thoughts on the Greenstone brand. btw- great job mama on getting your son to the appt (even if it was in the car). Good luck moving forward.
  12. After reading your post, I called to confirm our upcoming session with Dr. R, and to make sure it is still being covered by insurance. I called the intake process number. Was told it is covered in network for us (we have United though). geez...I hope you don't have to cancel. I like Ifran's suggestion if needed.
  13. Thank you for the suggestions. We did a 2 hr tour of the school yesterday which is what sparked her reaction last night. She finally received an IEP two weeks ago, after being declined last year. We met with her new guidance counselor and emotional support person. They were great and made every effort to make her feel less anxious. She was able to see where her classrooms would be and met some of her teachers. She is so afraid of vomiting (herself and others), food, lunch, all specials, transitions, substitute teachers, bus rides. But her biggest fear is attending full day. There were times during the tour that she showed glimpses of excitement, but then found out it was full days and has been in panic mode since. We had a very, very rough school year this year. It has been extremely tough on the entire family, and especially my health. I spent almost every day this entire year dragging her in kicking, screaming, crying - all to average 2-3 hours day. The last 6 weeks have been better from adding in a new antibiotic. The abx has decreased her daily nausea and GI cramping significantly, which helped her to attend more. But still far from where she needs to be. We probably will need to stop the abx (doryx) soon due to sun sensitivity. Already having issues with sunburn even with sunscreen. Worried about her GI issues returning. We will be away most of summer - IVIG, week at shore, 3 weeks at Rothman, but hope to add in a few school visits in between.
  14. Dr. J states that IgM converts to IgG in about two months unless there is a persisting infection driving persisting IgM reaction.
  15. My daughter graduated from 5th grade yesterday (wiping sweat off brow). She was on a modified school schedule the entire year. She is terrified of school on so many levels. For the last hour or so she's been crying nonstop about attending middle school next year. I'm about to pop her a Benadryl soon, I think. This is crazy and sooo tiring! Uggh
  16. mdmom- I'm not sure if this is the ART practitioner that tpotter uses, but Dr. Sw in Jenkintown, Pa is very good. He trained under Klinghardt. Let me know if you would like his info.
  17. Thinking of you. Hoping recovery is still going smoothly!
  18. I'm sure I'm well into 6 digits by now.I hear ya! And I consider myself lucky with the insurance coverage we received so far. **for a good resource on tick identification, check out www.tickencounter.org
  19. My dd(11) is around 70lbs. I give her a quarter of a 1 mg tablet. We don't need to use it every night though. I like the brand "Source Naturals Melatonin" orange flavored sublingual tablets. I take two myself most nights.
  20. If it was me, I would have titers drawn and throat cultures done on both boys, especially if you have a willing doctor. Is your 18yr old on antibiotics?
  21. Ok, my head is spinning- sorry, no help. I did want to mention that my daughter's mycoplasma IgG from Quest has been elevated since November 2011 (ran numerous times including Sept, Oct, Nov 2012). Beginning of this year we switched to Lab Corp for insurance purposes, and its been normal. In April, the doctor accidentally sent her labs back to Quest, and it was elevated. strange
  22. The worsening and then improvement on antibiotics may be suggestive of Lyme disease - esp. depending on where you live. If you would like more information on lyme disease, please ask. Bartonella (tick-borne infection) is known to cause severe neuropsychiatric symptoms, as can other infections, inc. strep. I agree with the others to follow your instinct.
