Colleen, I loaned out a book I had on coconut oil, but I do remember reading coconut oil helps kill all kinds of strep. Some strep I had not even heard of. I would think she could hold coconut oil in her mouth for a time and then swallow it. I don't know anything about xylitol. C.P.

Betty, I forgot how old your son is, but wanted to add, when my son was 8, 9yo we never thought about it, only thought it was odd, but he would look at the sun during baseball practice and games. Just a quick look up, he would not do that in the summer while playing outside. He is 14yo now and does not have that tic anymore. Just wondering how long stress levels stay high, was he nervous about the event on stage? I think my son would be nervous about his games, and that is why he would look at the sun. I can see that excitement is a real trigger for my son. As soon as the Capitals (hockey) were losing last night his high pitched squeeking vocal tic came back. He has only had a very soft "puffffff" vocal the past few days. I realize the Caps had to win last night's game or they would be out of the play-offs. This, I believe is what stressed him out. He was ok this morning, but will have to see how tonight goes, winner takes the series. C.P.

peglem, If a child is a "carrier" does that mean when you all kiss her you would get strep? Just wondering how this effects the other members of your family. From my son's titers it appears that he has never had strep. My girls have never had strep, I have never had strep. Husband is not sure but does not think so. I just don't understand how some families can get strep a lot and others never get it. ((((bmom,)))) Just wanted to let you know I understand that felling of not wanting to wait. C.P.

My so is schedualed to get braces in June. We have been talking to his Ortho. for 2 years now. Mostly because he had to have so many teeth pulled and adult teeth to come in before she could start. Patty my son had no problems having teeth pulled. When I talked to her about my concerns, she said "Oh I see" and offered we start in the summer while he is out of school. Thanks for the spacers tip Tami. C.P.

Just to let you all know... I am perfectly healthy.com offers the intramax for 6 travel size bottles at $36.00. So if anyone wants to try it without spending $75/$80. Son had a very good day yesterday even though his confirmation took over 2 hours. I could see his head nod tic came back for the ceremony, but he had very few vocals all day. Took him out to dinner after, and he never had the need to release any tics he was holding back, so I can only assume he was not holding any tics. Bishop was long winded, (45 min. Homily) but when I asked my son if he was listening, he was able to tell me a lot of what the bishop had to say. I was very pleased to hear this, as religion is not a strong point for him. Even my mom was impressed. Don't think he made a noise, blinked an eye, or nodded his head this morning before school. Take care, C.P.

When your child was first being diagnosed.....
CSP replied to JennyC's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Jenny, I totaly understand how you feel. First I want to say that Great plains Lab now take Blue cross Blue Shield. My feelings in the beginning were a lot like yours. I had panic attacks, and almost had to be medicated myself. My Dr. told me not to fill the prescription unless I really needed to. That I was just in fear of the unknown. He was right and I never filled the prescription. When my husband would try to make me laugh I would start to cry, because what he said was funny, but I could not enjoy anything happy, I just felt too sad. Yes, I do believe you are on the right track getting all your duck in a row, and then peace will come when you know you have done all that can be done for your child. Coping for me was/is running to our Lord. He always finds a way to give me hope with my son or something wonderful would happen with my daughters, and finally a way to enjoy life again. C.P. -
Just wanted to update. We have had some really good days this week. This morning he had no eye tics and the head tic went away earlier this week. The vocals are also way down. Son is very excited/stressed this week and usually tics a lot during those times. Hockey has him very excited over the Caps. Working at the ballfield before and after his game has him excited. He makes his Confirmation tomorrow (stress) Full moon tomorrow and he has been real good during the moon's waxing. Pollen is still way up here. Now for the attitude, wow... this has been wonderful this week. Nice to his sisters and very obedient to us. He is usually a good boy, but is testing the waters to manhood and giving his argument on subjects he disagrees with. Is this from the intramax I don't know??? But I can say this is one of the best few days he has had in over 2 1/2 years. By all rights he should be waxing with all this stuff going on this week. C.P.

Chewy oatmeal cookies; Patty, you'll love this one. 2 cups oats 1 cup cane sugar 1/2 cup coconut oil (heat just to a liguid) 2 egg whites 1/4 tsp sea salt 1/2 cup cranberries Stir together oats sugar and oil in a bowl. In another bowl beat egg whites until frothy, then pour into oat mixture. Stir in salt, cranberries. Drop by teaspoon full on lightly oiled cookie sheet, (I use the baking paper so are food is not on the pans, and I don't have to use the oil to grease cookie sheet) Bake about 15 min. in 325 oven. Let them cool a minute on the cookie sheet before you remove them. You can change the fruit to raisins or dates, and you could even add a 1/2 cup of nuts if desired. The coconut oil really adds a wonderful flavor. Not sure what makes them so chewy, but my family loves chewy cookies. Son's best friend devoured a dish of these cookies. C.P.

amy, I live in the U.S.A. but wanted to welcome you. There is a lot of info on PANDAS here, and I think you could ask question over the internet to the really good PANDAS Drs here in America. That info might help you when you do fine a Dr. in your area. I wish you much luck, C.P.

Good question Faith, She has been taking Garden of Life Cod Liver Oil. DHA 453 EPAmg 320mg. I chose that brand because out of all the fish oil Co. Garden of Life was the only Co. that said if there was soy in it it was so small .01%. I am switching her over to the Carlson Fish oil EPA 800mg DHA 500mg for the summer. She won't need the extra vit.D in the cod liver oil. The intrakid/max had me interested in their claims of neuro-cognitive brain function, focus & concentration, mood regulation, short and long term memory. I'm hoping if son can't take the salmon oil that the intrakid/max would do the job too. I feel so many parents would love to know how this product works for their child, it would be well worth the $$$ if it provides what it claims to. C.P.

Hi Faith, Funny you ask that his eye and head tic are waning. I have not continued the taurine, (thinking that was the cause of the eye tics)but did give him the salmon oil every couple of days. I wanted to see if it was the salomn oil or taurine. As far as focus goes with him he has stayed an A/B student. He is very smart but a lazy kid when it comes to school work. Just does what is needed and nothing more. I have to say for my 16yo dd's grades have just exploded. She has been on the fish oil every day for almost a year. She had the highest score on the English mid-term exam out of 3 soph. classes, and has a 100% in the class work. She was also told she was the only student to get a 100% on the drivers Ed exam. She will get her report card next week and she believes she has all A's and one B in Latin 3. She really feels like the fish oil has helped her. She is so happy she has been able to get good grades, work a job, do color gaurd, and History club. (oh yeah... and the boyfriend) The salmon oil is EPA 330mg DHA 300mg. I'm going the stick with the salmon oil and do it this way for awhile, and maybe when school is out I'll go for every day. (Oh still giving him sockeye salmon 2 a week.) I'm hoping the intramax helps with school too, as it claims to. C.P.

Bonnie, I took the plunge and baught it, I gave it to my son last week. So far the only thing I can report is there has been no increase in tics. I'm not following intramax directions, for dose yet. because I want to keep him on his supplements and wean him off slowly. I give him the intramax in the morning and skip the afternoon one so he can have his B6, B12, mag. still giving salmon oil here and there, not everyday. I was afraid of the detoxing from the intramax, but so far he has had no die off. So the the good news is no increase in tics. I think that is a plus in it's self. I really want a good multi, I'm not looking for a tic free miracle I just want a really good multi. I'll keep you posted, C.P.

Tracey, I have been having a little PM discussion with Faith on this subject, and is part of the reason I was interested in the Intrakid/max. My son felt like some of the supplements were causing tics. He is 14 1/2 now and I was feeling like I needed to let him start taking control of the tics and supplements. So I'm going to let him take charge (a little ) and see what happens. I don't remember how old your son is, but mine for most of his childhood untill age 12 was able to eat all kinds of junk and he had no tics that stood out as a problem. I'm hoping his body is coming to the end of puberty and with the diet change we will see either a reduction or no change in tics with only a multi as the supplement. My husband is such a wonderful support and never waviers on his belief that "HE WILL BE FINE." Husband never took meds or vit. for his TS. and as I have said before, he could be the poster-boy for outgrowing TS. Then a few weeks ago my daughter 11yo tells me to read Matt. Ch6: 25-34. Speaks volumes. C.P.

emma1, I don't remember, but are you giving your dd high doses of fish oil? She should be on the high EPA that is also a plus for the OCD/pandas. C.P.

Welcome Lori, So glad you found this place, lots of good info here. Have you tried the epsom salts baths yet. that might help on those nights you feel he is not getting to sleep. It sounds like you have been dealing with a lot and you are not overwhelmed. Sometimes with those of us who had the tics explode we try to much to fast. Glad your homeschooling that will help with any stress he might feel, and keep tics down. Good luck and read as much as you can, diet would be the first step I would clean up if you haven't started that yet. My son was on Clonidine (patch) for 1 month, after we started with the diet his body calmed down so much we were able to take him off. Let us know how things are going. C.P.

Thanks h.h. I was wondering if my son could eat the Ezekiel bread that has sprouted soy. That would be very interesting if he or anyone could eat the sproutes. Thanks again I just might have to try him on it. C.P.

Now that someone has mentioned it. When I was not watching my diet I never noticed anything with how I felt after eating junk. I also have never been on any medication or had an antibiotic my entire life. I could go years without getting sick. (did not eat much meat, and love fruit and vegetables) Now that I have cleaned up what I eat, the only thing I notice is, I get sleepy after I have eaten out. (MSG I'm guessing) I never had that before, I guess my body has changed and now I react to the toxens. Funny I just read about food and how some look like parts of the body they help. ie: carrots slice it it looks like and eye. Tomatoes has four chambers, just like your heart. Onions look like cells. ect... Very interesting. C.P.

Does anyone know if one has an allergy to beans, they may also have an allergy to the sprouts of the beans? Just wondering if anyone could give an educated guess on that. C.P.

Still waiting for updates on the intraKid. Was wondering if some others have tried it yet and could give updates? I did find some info on the age, intraKid is for kids up to 12yo. The intramax looks interesting on the toxens it helps get rid of. Would really like an update if someone would be so kind. Thanks C.P.

Thats wonderful... Jordan uses a lot of recipes from Sally Fallon's Nourishing Traditions Cookbook. This is the book I have really loved so far. C.P.

I mentioned this last year, my son's Dr. said she has heard some TS sufferers have had benefits from Tarentula remedy. (Extreme restlessness both physical and mental.) I kind of forgot about it after I had a hard time finding any info on it. I could not find it in any health food store. Maybe one can't get it unless they see a homeopathic DR???? I came across it in a book and it seems to treat people with disorders of the nervous system. For example people with restlessness, edginess and inability to keep still, hyperactive behavior. Restless legs, walking; jerking and twitching in attempts to ease symptoms. People may have sudden mood changes. I guess this is why some turn to smoking as it helps the symptoms too. I know nothing about homeopathy and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this. C.P.

Claire, Very nice to see you posting, My dd was sick so I missed you yesterday. How is your son doing? How old is he now? God Bless, C.P.

Hi all, For some reason my commuter blocks me sometimes from links you all post here. I could not get on the ones Colleen posted so I typed in all the letters. What came up was. Vaccine Exemption Forms by State. (google) most states are there. I don't know if this is simular to what Colleen posted yesterday, (since I can't get that up) if not I really wanted to share in case some people overlooked this thinking it was only for the state of VA. C.P.

Anyone overwhelmed with dishes & pots & pans?
CSP replied to patty's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Hi Patty, This dish is to die for. The recipe calls for pork, but I don't do pork so I substituted chicken. 1 package(6oz) dry herb stuffing (I make my own stuffing croutons) 2 stalks celery, chopped (1cup) 1 medium tart cooking apple, peeled and chopped 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2cup) 1 cup dried cranberries (really any veriety of dried fruit will work) 1/4 cup butter, melted 1 cup chicken broth (I make my own) 4 chicken boneless breasts/or 6 pork chops (1/2in thick) spray or oil the inside of your slow cooker. Mix all the ingredients except the chicken/pork Place half of the stuffing mixture in slow cooker; top with chicken/pork. Spoon remaining stuffing over chicken/pork. Cook on low heat setting 6 to 8 hours or until meat is tender. (watch for how your slow cooker cooks, mine does not need to cook 6 hours) Steamed green beans or broccoli, really any vegetables are a good accompaniment. Yummy, C.P.
