  1. Colleen, I live in Va as well, I'm a Catholic and I did go to our Priest and he said if I did religous he was afraid their would be many a Catholics in the county schools that would question me for that, as the catholic faith does not have a problem with vaccines. Wouldn't it be a better bet for us as we have a dx of TS from a Dr. who dx on the family history of TS. Should I go after the neuro. disorder (family history) What religion did you put down, and did you need a pastors letter? C.P.
  2. OH! The cookie line, that is so me. That was very nice, Wendy, C.P.
  3. My son had a sore throat on March 10 I took him to the Dr. No strep, she thought it was a cold. So I'm still confused on his head/eye tics. He was very quiet on the baseball field this weekend, but I did see his head nod foreward real hard sometimes. Last night was opening day for his fav. baseball team and he was real excited. I just can't figure out what is causing the change. So many cool things going on in his life, some stress too, Confirmation in 3 weeks. C.P.
  4. I don't watch Oprah, so I'm not sure, but just wondering how many DRUG CO. commericals fund her show? I would be real upset if her time slot is a huge market to sell drugs for any disorder!! I agree with Faith, she has done a show on TS already too. I think she should do a show on how stupid Drs really are. She could call it. "Mamas don't let your children grow up to be Drs or lawyers, let them grow up to be cowboys." Then our children will learn to live off the land. OH NO! now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head all day. C.P.
  5. HI Carolyn, It has been 18 years since I have been on a cruise, but my husband and I did ask questions and the travel agent was very nice and helpful. Are you doing this on line? Hope you have fun, I was sea sick the whole time. C.P.
  6. I can't thank you all enough, you all are so wonderful. ((((((((((((all)))))))))))))) I was so taken back by my son's new tic, only because vocals are the big problem, and he hardly ever has motor tics, that I was so ashamed for feeling the need to look away. Thurs. evening I thought he was choking because of the face he was making while eating. And... oh, Lenny, you'll love this one... my 16yo daughter who has never said anything to him about his vocals, and her bedroom is the one upstairs with him. Even when he was at his worst (screeming) she would NOT shut her door so do her homework, came down to breakfast yesterday morning and told me she felt like punching him in the face, to get him to stop. BTW, Lenny, if my husband had not had TS as a child he would have been devastated. Father and son very close on this end. I would not say he is ticcing worst then normal he is just changing the tic, thats what caught me off guard. Husband said he only made one vocal all evening. Tracy, I have a huge portrait of him when he was 8yo I can't tell you how many times I look at that picture during the day, with his big puppy dog eyes. Thanks again for all the support, this forum is a huge reason we do not want to medicate, and you all are great reinforcers. God Bless, C.P.
  7. I am having a hard time with my son's eye tic which has moved to his head too. I'm not used to this kind of motor tics with him, and I feel so bad, because I find it hard to look at him. You would think I would be happy the vocals are really down to almost nothing. I guess I got comfortable with the vocals and now I'm watching my son look like Kramer, from Seinfeld. Please pass along any encouragement my way, I feel so bad turning my head away from him. Thanks everyone, C.P.
  8. Just another question to add to yours. Is pure natural spring water ok? I'm sure other parents who are interested in the intraKid would like to know what kinds of water is good to take with that supplement. C.P.
  9. anne, I want to thank you so much for letting us know how your son is doing. I'm very happy for you all, and thanks for giving us the hope. Just to give you a little hope too, my husband said all his motor tics want away in his early twenties. Now at 44 he has a just a word tic/habit. I call it a habit because he never just says the word for no reason he slips it in his sentances. Kind of like a teenager with their slang, they just slip it in where ever. He calls me "LOVE" when he talks to me. I remember after being married for a few years (did not know he had TS) he said "LOVE" in between his sentances that one day I told him to "STOP LOVING ME" Thank goodness he didn't listen. Thanks again, sending a prayer your way that he happy days are ahead. C.P.

  11. ilovedogs, I have often wondered about the age thing myself, I was thinking that either their out there and not posting or do most parents medicate? I know I have many mom friends that we have met through sports and more then half of them have confessed they have a child medicated for one reason or another. I was shocked and it really made me think why is this happening to so many kids. i finally had a friend admit her 17yo dd is taking prozac, she hid that info by saying take your allergy medication. I think the only reason she admitted it to me is because I get on the soap box and don't shut-up. Just my thoughts, C.P.
  12. jewels, In Keven Trudeau's book, he says "Before 1988 only 1 in 2500 American children had Autism. Today 1 in 166 has Autism. (WOW) He also quotes Robert kennedy Jr's findings and a transcript he has from a meeting in Georgia in 2000, "Its the most horrifing thing you can read. Scientists from the government who say there is no way we can deny this. These vaccines are absolutely dangerous. I am not going to give it to my children, but we have to hide this from the American public." "Acording to the EPA guidlines you have to weigh 275lb to safely absorb the amount of poison in the hepatitis B shot all children are given." Kim might have already mentioned this in her many vaccine posts, Info comes also from a Fox TV show Scarborough Counrty. C.P.
  13. I have been using paper plates for years now, it was a tip to lighten the load for homeschooling moms. Best part now is my husband and I go for a walk every night and leave the dishes for the children to do. (16yo 14yo 11yo) They are being more responsable and I see how they take pride in a clean kitchen. We went through stages where they didn't always clean up everything, or wipe down the countertop well. Now it is always clean, everything, and I feel like a proud mama who will have young adults who won't be oinkers. C.P.
  14. Hi NJM, I don't know about the interactions, but my son has had some tic changes in the last 2 weeks. He is squeezing his eyes shut really hard. I noticed this while giving him taurine, so I stopped the taurine this week to see if the eye tic will go away. I thought maybe he is just waxing because his baseball season starts Sat. and he is going to a NHL game next week. His vocals are down, but I tell you this eye one scares me. I'm afraid he is going to get hit in with a baseball if he is squeezing at the wrong time. Could be spring too, pollen in the air. C.P.
  15. emma, This makes 8oz of carrot juice cocktail (Nourishing Traditions) 1lb carrots peeled (costco sells a big bag for $6 something) 2 tablespoons cream (not ultrapasteurized) Process carrots in a juicer. stir in the cream. Sip slowly. cream added to carrot juice helps convert carotine into vit A. This is on my list of things to try in this book. C.P.

  17. No smoking on my end either. Funny my husband said smoking when he was a teen helped his tics. Dipping helped too. C.P.
  18. Hi everyone, Could you all post how you see the wax and wane pattern in your child. My son started ticcing at around age 8 or 9. I did not know about TS then, but I will try to tell you how I saw him back then. If he was ever waxing back then it would have been a kissing noise for just a day or two. And go away for months (tic free) then come back. Around 10 and 11 I would say he had some eye tics and an arm tic that he would shoot up in the air, same kissing noise. I would say he just did this watching TV, or excited about something. I would say this would show up more often then the tics he had at 8 & 9. 12 he was a mess, loud screeming vocals, body jurking, I would say waxing just went from bad to worse. Waning just went back to being bad. Now at 14 waxing is vocals that seem to be every second, more eye tics. Waning is just a little quieter with the vocals, eye tics go away. He has not been tic free (waning) in over 2 years. It seems to me my son had more of the wax and wane when he was younger. Would say he is still going through puberty today. Thanks for sharing. C.P.
  19. Wendy, could you give us a rundown of the last couple months with your daughter. What % of tics would you say she had before starting the intraKid. What are some of the benefits you have felt taking the intraMax. (I know its only been a day) Do you have any info on what age or weight one would be to switch over from intraKid to the intraMax. I just think this info might help some familys who don't post but have questions. thanks, and good luck with a prayer. C.P.
  20. Hi Janey, Just wondering if you ever tried the Brightspark?
  21. Jules, I'm wondering about the omega 6's myself. In the research on coconut oil I have been doing the only info I have is omega 6 fatty acid can weaken our immune systems by increasing inflamation and promoting cell proliferation. Where coconut oil boost the immune systems. I'm not sure how the 6's effect yeast yet, but like the info on the coconut oil. I'm think Dr. Mercola said the omega 3's should be higher then the omega 6's. I'm still learning so I hope someone else will give more details. C.P.
  22. I know my son's Dr. wants to use food to keep him healthy, but she has put down a lot of foods high in tyramine. Kombucha, fermented veggies, and other fermented foods for the probiotics. (wonderful for me) but for my TS son???? Do you all feel you make an effort to stay away from foods high in tyramine? What I mean is foods other then the aged foods, ie: cheese, raisins, soy sauce... non-aged, like avocados, bananas, spinach, tomatoes... Thanks for your thoughts on this, C.p.
  23. Yes, Faith, good organic coconut oil should have a very strong coconut smell and taste. It should be unrefined. I don't know if any of you have heard of Keven Trudeau, he wrote a few books and I believe is on TV tho I don't have cable so I'm not sure. Anyway, he has coconut oil down as "miraculous category" his books opened my eyes to some things I would have been better off not knowing, but I'm glad I read them. "Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About" C.P.
  24. Yes, Patty, I think the heat will distroy the enzymes. I always buy a case of 5lb of really raw honey on line so I never thought about the cost. I'm sure you could use any type of sweetner. I did bake it at 350. C.P.
  25. Kim, I'm sorry you have had a bad week. I want to thank you for "taking on" this so called Dr. I hope he went home shaking from the lies he's telling trusting parents. Have a happy Holy weekend, C.P.
