  1. Thanks Kim, I'll play around with that. Hi Patty, Hope all is going well with your little guy. I sprayed straight peroxide on the soup dish walked away and later found the mildew was gone. I read you can use 50/50 for many things, like lightening your hair. (blondes) spray up your nose during a cold, or for spray on yor feet if one has a fungal problem. Smaller amounts like an ounce with a pint of water one could water their plants. I soaked our toothbrushes in strait H2O2. I used to buy Lysol kitchen cleaner, now I sprayed straight H2O2 on the counters. I did use a cup for the whites in the laundry, and thought it did a great job. I have not use bleach in 2 years so they really needed it. Could be why I thought it worked so well. I will see if dropping some in the ears at the first signs of a cold/flu helps keep us from getting sick. A friend said she read that on Dr.Mercola. Oh little things like this find make me so giddy. C.P.
  2. Welcome, My son was very active as a child. I think a Dr. would have said he was ADHD, if I had thought he was hyper. He didn't like to sit and watch tv, and always wanted to be playing. However he was never bouncing off the walls. He did very well in school and was a great athlete. Now that I have seen kids with ADHD, I can say my son never acted like some of these kids. That being said, when he exploded with tics, and I changed his diet, added vitamins, he has slowed down. But can still play all day if he wants to. He has a friend who comes over almost everyday and they play outside non-stop. This boy in no way has ADHD, but is just as active as my son. They go to the high school on the weekends and kick fieldgoals at a practice field. My son has never had a friend who could keep up with him when it came to playing, untill this boy entered his life. I can understand how you think the ADHD was a rush dx. Give the diet change a chance and add vitamins and I bet you see a calmer child. Natural Calm worked wonders for us. Comes in kids calm too. Good luck C.P.
  3. Hi everyone, I just wanted to share info on H2O2 for those of you who like pure cleaning products. I have been using 3% H2O2 to sterilize my kitchen, and bath. It works great. Had a little mildew growing under the soap tray in the tub I sprayed it with H2O2 and it got rid of the mildew. H2O2 is so cheap I thought some of you would like to try it as a cleaning product. It also cleaned my glass really nice. I'm going to try it this summer in some organic gardening. Google: benefits of hydrogen peroxide and read about its many uses. If someone knows how to post a link feel free I still don't know how to do that. C.P.
  4. Hi Bowman, Welcome, I only had one other thing to add about the corn issue. I have read that corn is a highly moldy food. I would think that would be the corn used as an added ingredent, not fresh. I also wanted to say I'm so sorry for the bad year, what your child has witnessed that would stress most adults out too. Good luck, C.P.
  5. Judy, My oldest daughter has a friend who has lyme. She has had it for awhile. She was so understanding the first time she came to spend the night last year when my son was screaming. She told me she thought she had tics induced by her lyme. She does not have tics every few minutes or anything like that, she just would sometimes in class have a tic spell that she could not control. So I think you have the right idea about the ts symptoms showing themselves do to the lyme. C.P.
  6. Chemar, I think we were replying to the post at the same time I didn't see your post until after I sent mine. I hope mine didn't reinforce anything negative about the Tourettes label, I was just thing about how it has changed our life, and how simple I wish this could be. I really love reading your posts because I'm am dealing with the three generations of TS as well, and you always help me to understand why my son and husband do what they do. But most of all it is because I can't wait for the day I can be as understanding a wife and mother as you are. God Bless, C.P.
  7. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I have caught myself feeling I hate the word Tourettes. Not because I don't like the label (though that very much could have been a pride issue with me in the beginning) just a little confession there. But more of I can't get used to how much it has changed our lives. I just wish my son could go to the movies, or take a trip with school, or church, without all the special needs. Then I get a loving slap from God to wake me up and He shows me just how lucky we are. My child does not have the kind of special needs that some parents will have to deal with for the rest of their lives. Faith, my youngest had two friends over yesterday after church, and one of them grunted all the time. I guess I could have asked her mother about it, but I just thought how peaceful the family is, and I would not want to rock their world. C.P.
  8. m2three, Funny Montana was the first place I thought about packing up and moving to. It can be so overwelming. I hope you have good results with the stuff you have done today. Keeps posted, C.P.
  9. Maryann, Our Dr. said it was to burn in the stomach, she should notice after about 5 or 10 min. C.P.
  10. Lenny, Just to let you know I go through the same emotions as you. My next worry is he makes his confirmation soon. It just seems to be one giant circle with no end. Some days I wake up and forget this has happened, most days it is the first thought I have. Like right now he will be home in 5 min. and I'm bracing for the worst. Even though he has been doing so good I still think it will all backfire. I pray every day my love for him is unconditional. God Bless you, I hope the years go by with only daily improvement for your son. C.P.
  11. Maryann, I would not do the white vinegar, apple cider vinegar is so healthy. I have a 32oz bottle I got for only $6.00. If you can get Bragg raw unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar (with the mother) that would be my first choice. My Dr. said if my son had no burn then he was to take the spoonful every day at each meal until he did start to feel the burn. That ment he was building up the acid in his gut. Im really getting into this whole gut/brain thing too, along with another mother I can't remember who keeps saying that. God Bless, C.P.
  12. Faith and Maryann, My son's Dr. said the same thing about the acid you discribed Faith. She said the food putrefies in the stomach, because of the lack of acid. She said to take a spoonful of apple cider vinegar before each meal. On empty stomach. She had me do this with my son to see if it had a burn. The burn was a good thing, If no burn, could be why he was not absorbing some vitamins. Just wanted to let you know I heard the same thing from Dr's lips. C.P.
  13. Thanks Kim, I think this has helped me figure out why I notice more ticcing after I have simmered soup bones for 12 hours. C.P.
  14. HI Faith, When our son was 8, 9, 10, he had what I would call more OCD. I remember when homeschooling him his desk was always neat. He would put all his books away and tidy up before going out to play. Now that he his 14 he does not care about picking up. His room can be a mess sometimes. The only thing I notice he does is wash his hands, but that is not over and over. Just before he eats and after taking the trash out. You know what a mother would want their son to do. My husband said when he was little he had trouble with socks in his shoes, and tags. He outgrew that too, they don't bother him anymore. C.P.
  15. Jenny, I have tried to take my son off gluten too, and have had the tics increase. Once I give it back he tics less. C.P.
  16. I've gotcha covered Kim, Keep me in yours, I need all I can get. kkver, Thats funny. You wouldn't believe the change in one day. He was so calm yesterday. He woke up with puffy eyes so I think my 14yo cried himself to sleep. Now I need to zap the Cowboys (my husbands team) or he will be ticcing "LOVE" and "BUDDY" for the next few weeks. CSP
  17. Hi emma1, Just before my son's explosion of tics he was given the meningitis vaccine, he was 12 at the time. However, my daughter was also given the shot, she was 14, she had no problems with it. Makes me mad and I'm sick over the fact I didn't know all the data on these vaccines. C.P.
  18. HI Kelly, A BIG GO STEELERS!!!!! From my son. I hate to say it but I'm hoping for a loss this weekend. The faster the Steelers are out of the play-offs the calmer my son will get. My husband had to rub salt in his wounds by driving up to Pittsburg tomorrow, and take a buddy to see the game. My brother lives in Pittsburg and he gave him his tickets. My son is beside himself... How could his own father go to a play-off game without him, and how could his uncle (who has no sons of his own) not give the tickets to his nephew? I'm just sitting in the backround saying "Thank you God" for once I'm not the bad guy. I was freaking out in OCT. my brother calls and tells me he has tickets of my son to go to the World Series if the Indians were to win Boston. I couldn't tell my son, he would have exploded with tics, so I left that one to God. So all my son has now is the World Series tickets with the Indians name on it. My sweet brother gave those tickets to my son so he could prove to his friends he really was going to go had the Indians won. I think I have only shared this story with Patty, but March of 2006 I was sitting in a church that I normally do not attend. I was not crying, and no one in the church knew me or my son. After a little while a woman walked up to me put her arm around me, and said, "HE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT, HE WANTS YOU TO LET IT GO." She gave me a sweet smile and walked out of the church. I really, really believe God sent me her as an angel to help me deal with my son. So...I can relate, and I know God always answers our prayers. God Bless, C.P. P.S. So glad to hear the flu didn't make things worse.
  19. M2three, The fall of 2005 my son started public school for the first time, and it was also the fall he turned 12. Since he was entering the 6th grade he needed middle school shots. He had those Oct. 2005, and by Thanksgiving 2005 he exploded with major tics screaming being one of them. Dec 2005 he asked me to pull him out of public school and homeschool him again. My son strep tests came out very low, but those were done about a year after he exploded. That was because I found this sight, and had him tested. I would have to say for him it is in the genes because of his fathers and grandfathers history with tics. If she comes out with normal titers her clinging to you could be the stress of the explosion. I did not pull my son out of school because I thought it would cripple him in the long run. He is in 8th grade, gets A's and B's is a great athlete and will go toe-to-toe with anyone who can keep up with football and baseball stats. Keep her close to her really good friends. C.P.
  20. Hi emilyt, Yes my husband did out grow TS. It is odd he only has a vocal tic, but does not tic that much. He just calls me "LOVE" between his sentences. He calls our son "BUDDY" Otherwise he makes no vocals. He did have a head shaking and sniffing tic when he was a child. Those are all gone. Strange how boys seem to have more of these problems. God Bless C.P.
  21. emilyt, Welcome! Are your kids boys, girls, or one of each? My husband had TS as a child, and his brother had restless leg. Husband has no sisters. My son has Ts, oldest daughter is fine, youngest daughter seems fine, most of the time, but sometimes does things to scare me. I don't know if it is me watching her to closly or what. I wish you a lot of luck C.P.
  22. Hi M2three, How old is you DD? I just wanted to add my son had his first explosion at 12, with a body gone out of control. It is so scary and such a feeling of hopelessness. I did see in my son a bad reaction to a B-vit his Dr. gave him, and also fish oil. my son has an allergy to dandelions so I stay away from products with flowers. I had to start over twice with his vit. because I could not get to a point where I saw any relief for him. I do feel he was at his puberty stage the year of his 12th -13th b-day. I pray things will calm down soon for her. God Bless, C.P.
  23. HI YA Faith, The vocals are the only tic that clearly waxes and wanes. The other tics seem to be around for a day then go away for a while. I'm thinking the vocals will never go away altogether. My husbands vocals only come out while he is talking to someone. My husband did seem to remember when he was 16 he dipped (tobacco) he said he thought to himself he would never quit because he noticed how much it helped with the tics. He did quit and he does not tic much, so he is wondering when he really out grew it. He almost feels like the dip helped break the (habit) so to speak. Again hubby has no motor tic what so ever. God Bless C.P.
  24. Does anyone know if fermented foods increase tics? His dr want him to eat lots of fermented veg. ???? C.P.
  25. Now that you mention that Chemar, my son got glasses within 4 weeks of the explosion. I never thought that could have helped too. Bmom, he does see an intergrative dr. We just had the spectracell test done again. We compared it to the first one, and he is no longer deficient in B12 or mag. However, I am still giving it to him. She would really like me to get him off vit and have food give him all his vitamins. I'm not ready to take that leap yet. He takes all the vitamins Cal/mag/zinc vit E/selenium B12, B6, mult, plus inosital now. I tried the 5-HTP for a month, but I can't tell if it made things worse or he was just waxing. All I do know is it didn't help at all. I thought I would try the inosital, because I was not sure if the 5-HTP increased his dopamine too. So far he seems to only have the waxing at night or when he comes in from the cold. I have thought about the digestive enzymes, but have not started that yet. He eats organic fruit/veg. and meat. I have not seen an improvement in tics after taking away wheat or milk, so he still eat those. He does not eat soy, corn, rice, deathly allergic to peanut. He does not eat anything in the legume family. I have only done the IGE not the IGG. I have only taken away the food I noticed an incease in tics after they were consumed. We are thinking about the IGG, but to be honest I'm afraid of the out come and don't want to take any more food away from him. He eats all the time. Thank the good Lord he likes fruit/veggies. I hope all is going well with you. C.P.
