Well all 3 of my kids are running fevers. Anthony who has been doing great is ticing like crazy today. Is this because he is sick? I know that it is but I just need some reassuring words. His temp is the highest and I feel so bad for the little guy. We see Dr. Latimer on Friday so i am glad about that. Does anyone else notice when your child is sick tics worsen? thanks. Deanna

Hi, i called Dr. Latimers office today to confirm my follow up appointment on Friday. I asked Andrea what would be the best way to contact Dr. Latimer because I have left numerous phone messages and emails. she said email, but really could not say to much other than Dr. Latimer has been overwhelmed with PANDA patients plus her normal neuro patients. I told her I will speak to Dr Latimer on Friday about this, I told her if she is managing my son Anthony then there are times when I need to get a hold of her and I think I need to know what the best way would be, she agreed . I will let you know what she says on Friday. Deanna

Hi Stephanie, so glad you finally have an appointment with someone, I have the same frustrations as you I have been trying to get a hold of Dr. Latimer since our August appointment it is very frustrating . best of luck on the 4th. Deanna

sounds like impetigo--bactroban ointment will clear it right up it is a prescription though/ Deanna

Hi Stephanie, I know how you feel after 5 phone messages and several emails we are heading back to see her on the 30th of October it is extremely frustrating--even more frustrating when you do see her which we did and then can't get a hold of her since around the 2nd week of September. I know how angry and frustrated you must be feeling. Char--she never phoned your son's doctor either?? unbeleivable. Deanna

Hi, we saw Dr. Latimer in August wonderful appointment. was told to get the Cunnningham test and then we would talk, we got the test and the results came back about the second week of September. I have left 6 phone messages and sent 3 emails with no response very frustrating so now we are heading back up on the 30th. I know these docs. are busy but I feel it is common courtesy to return a call or an email. Deanna

Hi, I wish we would have some better luck ANthony was on them only one day and he was coming out of his skin by the evening. He was to start school in 2 days so we did not continue we see Dr. Latimer again in a few weeks I couldn't have kept him on them he said "I feel like I am in a box and can't get out" I hope you have better luck and see alot of improvement. If you have a positive strept test while on one antibiotic do you switch antibiotic? Deanna

Hi Erica, I have seen people posts that they use Amoxicillin but not sure about the dose? I am sure people will respond who have used it. Deanna

Thanks everyone, Anthony's main symptom is his tic, some minor OCD issues. I have read the Swedo article and Dr. Latimer feels that pen-v-k is effective I guess I would just love to see him tic free and I did know if switching antibiotics would be the answer. He has been on the pcn for a good 5 months I don't know what a fair time frame would be?? any ideas? thanks to all that answered its great having a group to turn to when in doubt so thanks again. Hi, I guess i am a little confused, I feel we are the only ones using pencillin and don't know whether I should push Dr. latimer in putting Anthony on something else. He still has some head tics that wax and wane so don't know whether to push the issue or not. I often think would another antibiotic work better. any thoughts from those on antibiotics would be appreciated. I left her message and she is suppose to call on Wednesday so if I could get some feedback that would be great. have a good evening everyone!! Deanna

Hi, we saw her in August, she does a very thorough history and physical exam. She does like to have the Cunningham test done we did not. my son was already on antibiotics pen-v-k 250mg twice a day she does not like to jump to the bug guns i.e zithromax my son was not so bad at the time but I know for some she has started steroids right away in our case she wanted the blood drawn for the Cunningham test prior to steroids so that the results would not be skewed. hope this helps. she wanted him to stay on the pcn which we are still doing. Hang in there Melanie, You should call the doctor and run this by them I have to agree with the other posts the brain takes awhile to heal there is no quick fix I hope as the week goes by you see more good moments than bad, but do call the doctor and let him know. I do not know alot when it comes to IVIG or PEX but can steroids in conjunction with antibiotics be used after this??? Keep us posted Melanie I will keep Danny in my prayers and your family duirng this time. Deanna
