  1. Hey, Just go Nicholas 2nd organic acid profile and I am happy to say that it looked better than the first. i have some questions though and was wondering if anyone could help. On his first test the levels for yeast/fungal for arabinose and 3-oxoglutaric were high. This test only the 3-oxoglutaric was high and almost the same number of .69. Is there one type that is harder to kill than another??? Also he had decreased pyroglutamic acid both times which the test says that means low glutathione. i give him a liqued oral glutathione and the cream every night. My questions is should I switch to the NAC to try and increase his levels. He is low in pyridoxic which means he needs more b6. I give him a b complex which works well for him but stopped the individual b6. any thoughts or ideas on what works for you guys will help .. Thanks abbe
  2. Pat, This new doctor is Dr. Chung. He is a medical doctor in NJ who used to be the head of cooper hospital some division. Very well respected. He has opened an integrative institute. The woman who did Nicks live blood cell anylasis referred me. He seems very smart and very confident. I called him when Nick reacted to the FNG homeopathic and he said that really meant we were on to something and to cut dose in half. I stopped altogether because just looking at Nick with that eye roll non stop freaked me out to much. He seems to be getting "better" tics slowing down again to slight. He tested nick through kinesiology and said he needs essential fatty acids and cod liver oil is the one for him. I haven't introduced it yet. He does accupuncture with a laser beam of light for kids if they won't use needles. I just did Nicks 2nd organic acid urine test and we will see what comes up. I feel like I am much farther along than before in knowing what to look for. Thanks for your comments abbe
  3. [quote Char and cheri, Thanks for your responses. I spoke with the new doctor and he said to cut the homeopathic drops in half. We discussed accupuncture for Nick because he uses it in his practice. He agreed with me (finally someone agrees) that Nick's reaction to trying to kill the yeast just proves yeast is a big root issue for him. As far as the topamax goes I put Nick on 15 mg only to calm his symptoms down but still be able to see what are triggers and what his body needs to get better. I could easily have put him on a higher dose and he wouldn't tick at all I am sure of it but I don't want to put a "band aid" on what is wrong with Nick I want to heal him. Thanks for your responses abbe
  4. Hi all I wanted to start a topic up on yeast and what has been effective treatments thus far for your children. Also how long does the die off reactions last? A new Doctor just put Nick on homeopathic drops FNG and his neck and eye tic have started. The nystatin starts the neck tic. I feel like I want to get rid of this yeast but can't stand giving my child things that make his tics start ..I was wondering how long the die off lasts once you go after the yeast aggresively. Any expereinces? abbe
  5. Caryn, My doc. wants me to start cod liver oil with Nicholas. Have you found that to cause your child to tic? abbe
  6. Hey, Just got back from a new doctor for Nicholas and he says he needs essential fatty acids and his body tested (muscle testing) that cod lier oil would be the best for him. I know alot of people on this board have written the fish oils make the tics worse so I was wondering has anyone been able to give them or take them and have had positive results???? Thanks for your input. Abbe
  7. Wendy, So Nicky's neck tic did appear very mildly on vacation. I would have to say it was either the arcade or eating off diet. It was never bad for him or me!!! I have an apt. with him at this big institute near my house that the clinical nutritionist recommended. It is in early May. Until then I expect things to be the same for him. I have put him on new probiotics as per her suggestion from a company called candida wellness. They are very high quality and I for the first time in my life have been able to take them. Before they always upset my stomach. The nutritionist said that most of them on the market have mold in them and I am allergic to mold!! abbe
  8. [quote name='patty' Hello all Back from vaca.! Hurray had a GREAT time. I went into it worried about everything and slowly let loose as the week progressed. I left the pool for the day before we left in case it set off a problem. The pool was no problem at ALL for him.. My son who eats VERY clean had soda and shirley temples' ( 1 or 2 per day) he ate well but played lots of arcade games. I would say the two biggest triggers for him were arcade games and a glass of orange juice. Unpacking all my stuff will write again abbe
  9. [quote name='Chemar' date='Apr 8 2009, 09:Cheri, The chlorella was suggested for the metals not the yeat. I never heard of this machine either but the real convincing part of it was the clinical nutritionist who told me about it used it for her kids. She was then able to do the live/dried blood test after and SEE the results. It has something to do with the currents that run through the body that zaps the yeast. abbe
  10. [quote name= Yes one of Nicky's biggest triggers was eating. The act of eating not what he was eating. This was a major reason I tried the 15mg of Topamax. At one point his neck tic was so bad he hasd to hold his head in his hands to eat. Couldn't keep it still to get food in.
  11. [quote name= Cheri, Bonnie, thanks for your replys. I was curious if there was anyone who could comment on chlorine NOT causing tics to start or be worse. Has anyone noticed this NOT being a trigger. I guess I am just asking because I will probably let Nick swim at least once when we are away and I was wondering if there is a chance that this won't be a problem for him abbe
  12. Hello everyone, We are going on vacation Friday and I just wanted to know if going in the pool made your children tic? I know I read this before on the site. I am going to let Nick go swimming and I hope that a quick rinse off in a regular shower after will be ok. Any thoughts or experiences? abbe
  13. [quote name='myrose' date='Apr 6 2009, 10:24 PM' Wendy, Nicky drinks capri sun 100% juice at lunch . It has citric acid.... At home he gets strawberry kiwi, i though early on that orange juice could have been a trigger and now I am to darn scared to work it back in. Besides he loves OJ so much he would drink 10 glasses a day if he could which they say could mean allergy. Mostly at home he just drinks water though. P>S> I took the computer out monday. He is back to 0 tics again. we are going on vacation Friday so my fingers are crossed. I am so very, very thankful . Tommorow he goes for a live blood analysis abbe
  14. [quote name='myrose' date= Wendy, I went to a clinical nutrionist for the blood anylasis yesterday for me (I am taking Nicholas next weeK) she said lots of good stuff that I want to share with you and the forum. ALL POSITIVE. I actually am running out the door to my kids opening day baseball parade. In any event my adrenals are exhausted (Big surprise!) The one thing she shared with me was to avoid the following foods because they are fungal toxins called Mycotoxins and effect the brain Alcohol Corn (except on the cob wheat Peanuts, peanut butter, cashews and Pistachios Mushrooms SoySauce Balsamic Vinegar Cheese especially aged Chocolate Citric acid I got to thinking on this of all the people that think it is allergies (including me) at times that make the tics worse when it could be these toxic foods are just to much for them to handle in the state that the brain is in already. I know food restrictions are very hard on kids (it almost drove me over the edge with Nicky) but I think we should be aware at least what the "bad" ones are abbe
  15. Wendy and Mary and all others, I wanted to post an update on Nicholas on this thread because thanks to Wendy and Mary I finally put Nicholas on Topamax on February 14. To give you an idea as to how hard is was for me to make this decesion I filled the script and kept it on my desk at home e mailed Wendy, Mary and cried for two weeks trying to figure out if I should or shouldn't start it. I would have to say that I safely tried EVERYTHING first with Nicky. Food, supplements, allergy testing, no screens, energy healer,, reflexology, on and on. Nicholas tics started last summer as an eye roll but "I missed it" and thought he needed glasses. He did in fact need glasses so it through me off. On 10-31-08 at his Halloween party at school he came down with a throat clearing tic, the eye roll and the neck tic. I thought he was getting a cold because he described it like my throat hurt. He went with his dad that weekend and came back Monday and I could't believe it he was NON STOP throat clearing and neck ticcing. He was really, really upset saying his throat hurt, his neck hurt and make it stop. I immediately starting researching what the heck was going on and found bonnie's sight. I had him tested for strep that week although he never got sick and it was negative. It was the quick test though and I still have never had the more in depth blood work done. He went on Bonnie' supps and I saw a good improvement, Then we dropped dairy and wheat and I saw a good improvement, the we did the acid oat urine test, the neuro. urine test, and allergy testing (one half of it). I tailor made a nutritional program for him and pulled him off dairy. I was less than thrilled with his DAN doctor (Magaziner NJ) In any event we had our ups and downs but in early December he went tic free for 21 days and I was thrilled. He always seemed to benefit from this healer in Mietek Wertek. But after Christmas the neck tic came back. I have to say that he got a computer in his room at the time because I wanted him off the Xbox. My kids can only go on when it is the weekend. but we did have a "break" in school so he was on a little more. When his neck tic came back I also took him to see a movie and within a day he had this neck jerk that scared me to death. He would have to hold his head in his hands to eat food to keep it still because for some reason the "act" of eating makes him tic. For the longest time he cleared his throat only when eating. On February 14 his stomach tic came back and he was very, very anxious. I started him on the Topamax that night. 15mg. My son is going to be 8 in June and weighs ??not sure haven't put him on the scale lately 55 plus he is average built. Within two weeks he was tic free. I noticed a huge change in his behavior that I attribute to the Topamx relieving his anxiety about having tics in general. he is so much happier because he feels "normal" again. Next week we are going for a dried blood test to see what that reveals. I never intended to put/keep him on Topamx to "mask" the issue. I want to try and find the root cause and let the body heal. Last week Nicky's neck tic came back (mild but there) prior to that on the Topamax only the eye roll would show. Increasing his b vits stopped the eye roll. When his neck tic came back I "panicked " it did come back after a weekend at home with me where he used his computer. So this weekend I am taking it out of his room and this makes me sad. He only gets to use it every other weekend for tow 30 minute intervals and really appreciates the time and I am taking it from him out of fear that it started the tic again. Prior to the neck tic he would tic while using it and when off of it the tic would stay away. This has been the hardest part making these decesions that seem "mean" but are in his best interest. It really sucks being a mom sometimes... In any event I wanted to let the board know that I have two older sons one who "has" add and one who went through OCD for a year. I never even considered medicating my boys never once. I gave them herbs and vits. but no where like how I do with Nicholas. My older sons OCD was "healed" through a great, great therapist. It was BAD> I guess I am just telling you this because I am not a medicine person but if a medicne can work at a low dose with 0 ZERO side effects then it is more than OK to consider in my opinion. You have to weigh the pros and cons. Sorry for rambling I just know that I want to update everyone as this puzzle continues to be seen. Thanks again to Mary and Wendy for giving me the strength to make the right decesion. abbe
  16. Hey, I would not trust any doctor who puts your child on a supplement that they directly benefit from through financial gain. Market America or the mall without walls is a bad new multi level marketing company that the people who are in it need to sell a large amount of inventory to advance in status. I think accupuncture is great and wish I could get my son to go but he is to young. Go back to your old supps and find a new accupuncture doctor. abbe
