  1. Hello again I just spoke with my natural doc. he was mildly helpful. He is not experienced with Glycine and just looked up an amount and said 1000 mg is fine for Nicky. How many of you are using Glycine and at what amount is it tolerated? safe? He also said he doesn't give pot. bicarbonate but does use tri salts which has that in it. I am going to pick it up right now. abbe
  2. Cheri, Thanks for your response. I appreciate your suggestions and support very much. abbe
  3. Patty, Thx I did buy and use the mag. cream. He doesn't like it so that can be an issue.. Update though I let Nick on a basic computer game like a pong game and his neck tick/jerk flared right up...............I think he needs off all video and computer games.... abbe
  4. [quote name='Carolyn.N' date='Jan 19 2009, 11:18 PM' post= Carolyn, As always thank you for your support and advice. I decided to keep Nicholas home from school today to get the anxiety down but to also load him up on supplements and keep his diet clean. I started a food diary also. Today so far he has had scrambled eggs with rice milk and a gluten free cereal. He tested clear on eggs at his first allergy testing. I read somewhere that the sulfites in eggs can be helpful??I forget where or when. As far as vaccinations go forget about it no more for any of my kids ever. I questioned my ped. dr. on all the kids years ago and gave half dose at a time. They told me why wold I be mean to my baby and give them mre needles not less............... Well today his neck tic is almost not even there and when he does do it it is more of a stretch not the forceful jerking that was happening non stop for the past two days. I feel like this is all starting to make more sense now though. Diet clean and benedryl Nick ok I think. I had him tic free without benedryl also . I need to get the allergy testing done next Tuesday but I have to have him off the benedryl to do it. I will write back soon. thanks again abbe
  5. Hello everyone I really really appreciate your responses. I really thought I was going to "lose it" yesterday when his head was jerking side to side. He looked like he was in so much pain and I couldn't help him. I did give him benedryl last night (I tried not to because now he can't have the allergy testing on wed. if antihistamines are in his body. Today the neck tick is there and it is a pull and it is happening very frequently but NOTHING like what I saw last night. Do you find the tics decrease the intensity before stopping. I did give him more magnesium but no glycine yet. He had all the other things he normally has though. As far as the school snack and the fast food I found myself giving in because I felt bad for saying no to everything. I woke up all night having night terrors and fears like you can't imagine... I wish I could take on this pain for him. My husband just came home from work to support me emotionally. I want to write more and believe me I will never give my child anything to push him over the edge again. I took him off video games (he only get to play every other weekend for 1 hour tops but who knows what did it. Do you ever feel that you could let this absorb your whole life? your whole being? I miss my other children . I feel like I am not there for them. My body is there but I just yes them and I am constantly thinking about what I did right, what I did wrong........ I am very down right now. I am sorry..... abbe
  6. Hello, I need help !!!!!! Nicholas went off the benedryl on Thursday night. at school he ate snack food at a class party and woke up with his neck tic. By Sunday after being exposed to video games and fast food (he never ever has it) his neck tic became a huge neck jerk. It is so bad his body looks like it is being pulled by a force. I am completly in a panic. What can I increase or do to get him under control???? I am trying my best to stay calm but Nick is upset and he keeps saying my neck, my neck. What can I increase his supplement dosages to to calm it down. If I give glycine in the day will it make him tired? abbe
  7. Hi everyone, I just wanted to give an update on Nicholas. I chose to speak to his doctor again to question him about the Neuro science supplements and other questions. I feel that he was helpful. I sort of confronted him today in regards to his experience with ts/tics. He told me he has alot of experience and is quoted throughout sheila Rodgers book.. So just an update here Nicholas is not doing the following tics that he was doing eye roll, neck tic, crooked neck, eye roll into neck tic, throat clearing tic he does however exhibit a stomach type roll tic. For some reason this doesn't bother me or him as much I guess because it is hidden. He is getting over a cold that settled in his chest right away. His brother just came down with it today (Oh lucky me) Nick was on Benedryl 1 teaspoon before bed for one week. During that time his tics stoped. (except for the stomach tic. By the way he also I think has a breathing type tic where he kind of sucks air in at times like he is short on breath. It is not noticeable to anyone but me. Anyway, tonight I took him off the benedryl because he has allergy testing next wed. and he needs to be off of all antihistamines prior to. He is still congested and I would have probably kept him on for a few more days tops. I did give him .5 melatonin tonight to assist him in sleeping (Nick is an awful, awful sleeper). I have ordered a natural herb called tart cherries. It produces melatonin naturally which I prefer. Even before all of this happened with Nick I was a holistic mom who used herbs etc. I will keep everyone updated on his progression. I know I caused a stir in regards to the benedryl but I felt it was only fair to share what had happened to me with Nick. It really has been a tough couple of months and I feel that I am so absorbed in healing Nick I miss my other two sons and my husband. abbe
  8. Carolyn, Just for curiosity I googled what increases Dopamine in the brain and it said lack of sleep in the night or poor sleep increases dopamine. so here we go around and around with me saying Nicholas' being a restless sleeper is the root of his problem????? abbe
  9. Cheri, thanks for your responses. I am still weighing out all of my options and trying to figure his program out. I appreciate your comments. abbe
  10. Carolyn, I am so glad you responded. I feel like we are in similar situations because our boys are the same age. What I don't understand is why the dopamine levels are high and how to lower them. The Glutathine that Nick is on is a liqued form and it says it is being patented. I had him on the NAC awhile back and thought I saw some good results I had e mailed you then. I have still been giving Nick a teaspoon of benedryl at night (he has a cold). He has been tick free ( although I can still see a squirm here or there) again since the weekend (since on benedryl) don't know if it is a coincidence or not. I guess we will see because I will take him off in the next day or two. I am a little overwhelmed still because I like to solve things quickly. I have used herbs and vitamins my whole life and so have my kids so it frustrates me that I can't figure this out. I think my biggest concerns right now are do I keep him on nyastatin for the yeast or switch to an herbal program. (He already takes his herbs in applesauce and is fed up) Also is it safe or ok for him to have .5 mill. of melatonin to help sleep. the kid is so restless. His Gaba is high so that is out. any more comments are appreciated. Take care... abbe
  11. cheri thanks so much I am headed in the right direction at this point and don't want to "screw" up abbe Hi abbe yes there is a difference between the acetyl form and the regular L-carnitine my son was on the L not the acetyl I will try to find the thread you posted on your son's results and respond there later as working at present. s
  12. OK so I just got Nick off to school and here are all of the results from Neuro science Epinephrine is elevated Norepinephrine is normal, serotonin is suboptimal-low,dopamine is elavated and gaba is elavated Does anyone have similar results for there children? themselves? what worked? what didn't? abbe thanks again
  13. Hello again Thanks for your responses. As far as Nicky's tics being gone yes they went away again, eye roll, neck tick, stomach tick, his throat tick has been away for some time. I am not interested in trying anything like trava cor if it will increase tics. I have already added carnitine, b5, vit.e, half milligram melatonin and now the nystatin. I am not planning on using the benedryl for more than one or two nights more just want his cold to subside. I believe that Nicholas is benefiting from getting more sleep not from the histamine level but that is just a mothers guess only time will tell. I can't believe how much calmer and happier I am when he is tic free. This whole thing seems like a nightmare to me at times and when he is tic free I can forget it ever even started. Just last Tuesday night he was at the dinner table and could not stop his neck tic crying to me that his neck hurt and please make it stop....... abbe

  15. Hi everyone, I haven't posted in awhile because I have been waiting and watching. As you may recal my son Nicky age 7 had an eye rolling tick this past summer. On October 31st it turned into a throat clearing, neck tick very bad. I put him on Magnesium, acetyl lcarnitine, b6 , b complex and glycine. I cut out wheat and diary eggs and oj.. We then saw a reduction in his throat tick to almost nothing except when eating and he still had the neck and eye tick. At the end of December we did half of his allergy testing. One day prior to that he developed a stomach tick also. He tested positive for dairy and slightly for soy. We put him on an antigen for dairy. We let him eat wheat and eggs again. no dairy and limit soy. On that Friday we drove 3 hours to a healer named Mietek Wertek. amazing guy who we have seen before. Nick saw him Friday and Sat. for two sessions. In two days my son was transformed into this nice little boy again and his neck and eye tick stopped completly. The stomach tich remained. I held my breath cryed tears of joy and got to see my little boy again with a still head. It truly was a christmas miracle. Last week 18 days later the neck tick came back. The only things I could attribute it to were a cold that came on for Nick, he ate peanut butter that day, he went back to school. So I was a mess crying again etc. I just went to his nat. doctor and got his test results back. He wants me to add in Glutathine (smells like rotten eggs), b12/Methyl, b5, a better flora plan, vit e, l carnitine, and 3 supplements from Neuroscience Calm prt jr, trava Cor Jr. and Tyrosine spray, Also he wants nick on Nystatin for yeast over growth.(also tasts like ___!) HERE IS MY QUESTION Does anyone have any negative or postive stories on any of thes additional supplements. He told me I could take him off Glycine also. By the way a huge factor in this for Nick I feel is he doesn't sleep the night well. He is very, very restless. To prove a point to myself on Thurs. ngt I gave him a teaspoon full of Benedryl. When he woke up Friday he was pleasant, happy and the neck tick was gone. I feel that my sons nervous system is shot for what ever reason. You may recall from my prior posts that he had an accident when he was 5 and tore the artery in his neck and had 3 strokes. he recovered completly and you would NEVER even no it. He does have to take a baby asprin per day though . He is more athletic then his older brothers! I told the doctor about the sleep issue and he said I could give him a very small amount of melatonin before bed .5 mg. I am sorry to ramble but I have no one to talk to about this. I want to move slowly and not overwhelm myself or him for that matter. I mix his herbs in applesauce because we can't use yogurt anymore. I appreciate any suggestions or help you may give me. I won't be back online until Monday I am going to the Poconos THANK YOU ABBE
  16. Hi Abbe we added B1when my son went on a youth missions trip to south America as we were told it prevents mosquitoes from biting. he found it reduced his tics so we kept it in his program. B vitamins in general are found to be very helpful i tic reduction BUT some people (like my son) do not tolerate B Complex so best to give the B's separately we used to use B6 but now prefer the P-5-P form. dose is weight and age dependent my son is now 19yo and so his requirements in terms of dose etc are very different now he used carnitine successfully for a persistent vocal tic. when that had waned he went off the carnitine. vocal tics intensified about 2 years later and he started carnitine again but found it made him feel weird and edgy so he stopped it never used NAC or glycine other than the magnesium glycinate no intolerance to wheat or dairy. we tried elimination. his allergy testing also showed he was fine with them. I seem to recall ph tests being done around the time of hair tests etc hope that answers the questions for you
  17. Hello, Here are a couple questions?? Why the b1??? How much total b 6 do you do? what does your son weigh?? How do you figure out the carnitine made him edgy and did you use it for the vocal ticks when you did? Did you ever use NAC? Did you ever use glycine? Does your son tolerate wheat or diary ? Was your son's ph ever tested? thanks so much abbe cheri, thanks for your response.. b1 does prevent mosquitos from biting that I am sure off! I thought I noticed an improvement also using the b vitamins seperately. I am just trying to still figure the best daily protocal for my son. thanks for your response and support. abbe
  18. Hello, I don't know the answers yet of what is helping because I attacked it on so many different levels, supplements, diet and energy work. I will figure it out and tell you though because I am not out of the water by far just optimistic. I saw a difference I believe with the addition of NAC (not sure if he needs the apple cider vinegar or not) and b6 (extra) I will keep you posted as I unravel the mystery... abbe
