Allergies . . . Yes, AGAIN!
philamom replied to MomWithOCDSon's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Yes, while I agree that allergies (or anything that causes inflammation) can increase symptoms, I find many doctors just use it as a diagnosis, but don't look for an underlying cause. When this latest episode began for my dd 2 years ago, we took her to a Neurologist who said her intusive thoughts, contamination fears, rages, exc., were due to seasonal allergies and wrote a prescription for claratin. All for a price of $250.00! If it were only that simple! -
shifting gears in my treatment
philamom replied to MichaelTampa's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I have tried a few over the years. The only one that has done anything for me is the one made by GiaWellness (formerly a different name, I think it was BioPro). They have several devices--pendant, something to plug in for the home or office, and a variety of "chips" for electronic devices. While I found them all helpful, the chips were just marginally helpful, not worth the money for me. The pendant and home harmonizer both have been and continue to be very helpful for me, the home harmonizer even more so than the pendant. The GiaWellness stuff works on the principle of randomizing the EMF's that are around. This brand may or may not be the only one using this principle, but some other brands do use different principles--adding "good" energy, or trying to block the EMF's, and so on. I really had tried a number of them several years ago, I got to the conclusion none of them are helpful. But then when my employer installed wireless at work, I had a severe problem, and out of desperation ended up trying the GiaWellness, after seeing it at least works on a different principle than the others ones I tried, so it had a chance. For me, it has been a true life-saver (or, more precisely, job-saver, literally), as my sensitivities to these things have just been extremely high. Michael- can you explain what the home harmonizer is? -

Effective strategies are available in each area : Protect Yourself, Protect Your Yard, Protect Your Pets. Summer Camp || Protect Yourself || Protect Your Yard || Protect Your Pets || Permethrin Facts || Pet Health Affiliates || Perimeter Spray A message from Dr. Thomas Mather to Camp Directors Dear Camp Directors: I am a professor at the University of Rhode Island and a researcher on the subject of diseases carried by ticks and other biting insects. As an outdoor enthusiast and former boy scout, I fully support all efforts aimed at getting children and their families outside to latch onto nature. My job, however, is to keep these little "bits of nature" from latching onto people. Like you, I am very concerned about increases in diseases like Lyme Disease, West Nile Virus and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Unfortunately, children playing and hiking outdoors are particularly susceptible. Studies increasingly are showing just how therapeutic nature experiences can be for children. But not if they get sick doing them! Now, there is an important new way to help keep children as safe as possible from biting ticks and insects whenever playing outdoors, camping, or hiking. And, it's easy, too. Insect Shield is a new technology that builds insect repellency directly into children's (and adults') clothes. Effective protection is built in; all you have to do is wear the clothing. I do not have any relationship with this company other than the fact that I visited their headquarters in North Carolina to personally ask them to create a line of Insect Shield clothes intended especially for summer campers. Insect Shield agreed to my request, and now clothes with Insect Shield technology are available for you to offer to your campers and staff. The insect protection provided by this clothing will last much longer than just through summer camp-the repellency lasts through 70 washes-so children can be protected at camp, in the backwoods, and after they return to their backyards at home. I encourage you to look at our research section for results of a trial using this technology to protect people wearing summer weight clothes from tick bites. Contact us at TERC@etal.uri.edu if you have specific questions. Tick and mosquito transmitted diseases are completely preventable if you and your camper families are ready to take appropriate action. As I type, only $10 more is needed for the immediate upgrade. If you were going to make a $10 donation, I'd apply it to the upgrade so goal can be met. For a larger donation, I'd apply it to the website category, as that will be the harder goal to meet. This month's maintenance has been met, so now we can move on to building a better website.

Maybe try some benadryl cream on the rash. It will be difficult since it spans the entire back, but it did help clear the few that popped out when I was on doxy. It might be wise to snap a picture (no flash) and forward to the llmd.

I'm sorry I don't know. Maybe try googling... Ok...I don't like what I googled. My daughter doesn't eat sugar free foods or drink soda, so not sure how she would have an elevated reading. It seems pretty high. And PKU seems like something that would be diagnosed at birth. I'll have to contact the doctor who ordered the OAT test (at my request) since he never got back to me about the results. I assumed it was fine...I'm sure it probably is. Also, you can call Great Plains Lab. and ask for customer service- I've called before, and in fact, they used to (pretty sure still do) set up an appt. for a free consult with each test. But they have people in customer service that know the tests. Thanks...I'll try them on Monday.

My daughter also strongly reacts to the S. Therm in many of the probiotics, so I avoid them as well. She reacts to all supplements and probiotics when first introduced, but, nothing like the reaction I get when I try VSL. It's ashame, because it's a great probiotic. I currently give my dd 250 billion cfu of probiotics daily. Last year she got c-diff while taking only Florastor.
