Hi all,

My son's vocal came back recently and the only new thing i gave him was a tsp of apple cider vinegar w/raw honey for better digestion and immunity. After the 6th dose spreaded out over the course of 3 weeks, he started a vocal tic.

I had post about ACV & vocal tic on the forum but no one seem to have this experience.

After my son was treated for ACV via NAET his vocal tic is gone! I would never thought something like ACV can effect him but it did! ACV has traced minerals, bacterias and enzymes, so now i am zero in on these items for testing on our next office visit.

Did the vocal tic begin to go away after you discontinued the ACV?

What is NAET?

:D ...... you know, pat, you sparked something in my head. I kind of thought my son was quieter on his vocals the past couple of days, where we were hardly hearing the sound he usually makes. (he's been on a month of abx as a trial, but I don't think it was helping, he still had the vocals pretty much and other issues going on as well, and his repetitive erasing kicked up again during the month, so I wasn't putting too much stock in the abx, unless it decided to kick in at the 11th hour, don't know) but anyway, yesterday, he came home from school and told me they did an experiment in school with rocks and chalk and they put vinegar on it, and he was saying how it made him in the mood to drink the vinegar, as I did give him some ACV in the past and he actually likes the taste. So he goes and gets it and takes a couple of swigs. he proceeded to do his homework, and now that I think of it, his vocals were up again last evening. ...... now I'm remembering the vinegar, wow, imagine if it was that? I wouldn't have put it together, its just that reading this post reminded me that he did have ACV yesterday. He was making the sounds lot before going to sleep and I was getting unnerved, he heard me sighing in the other room. well, I don't give that on any regular basis anymore, but I won't give it from now on anyway.....

Regarding the ACV, I want to first point out that my diet lately, fighting candida and food allergies and being a vegan besides, has been EXTREEEEMELY restricted lately. I have started energy testing foods before I eat them. But, for a couple weeks, I could actually eat pickles and mustard and it was exciting for me in terms of variety. Then, things went crazy in terms of environmental triggers and health went seriously downhill with candida increasing, and I couldn't eat the pickles. Then I read that candida diets should avoid pickles and vinegar, and I couldn't believe I hadn't known that, but, just wanted to point out, when I hear about vinegar being a problem, for me, I think of candida being part of the picture.

Just an FYI,

Many honey farmers are feeding their bees High Fructose Corn Syrup. Not all honey is created equal and you really need to be careful with honey brands in the U.S.:

From my article--

Corn Sugars 101: What you might not know about how corn sweetens our food

HONEY You really have to know your brands and research their bee keeping methods. “With the advent of HFCS, there was no way to prove whether in fact honey was mixed with corn syrup. Adulteration therefore, became extremely profitable because the possibility existed to mix 80% to 90% corn syrup in honey without being detected” (University of Florida IFAS extension). But even more disturbing is the new trend of Bee Keepers in the U.S. feeding High Fructose Corn Syrup to bees, “Many commercial crops—vine crops like watermelon and cantaloupe, for example—don’t yield enough nectar for bees to accumulate stores, so when winter or early spring rolls around, the bees are out of food. Normally they’d fall back on honey, but that’s long since been harvested by the beekeeper and shipped to grocery stores and farmers’ markets. So beekeepers cover this shortfall by feeding bees high-fructose corn syrup, or HFCS—the same substance manufacturers add to everything from soda to ketchup and the stuff many nutritionists believe is turning Americans into obese, wheezing, diabetic, cancer-ridden couch manatees” Washington City Paper, “Buzz Kill”, June 14, 2007.

If it was bad honey you son could have been ingesting high fructose corn syrup every day and that was causing the tics, not the apple cider vinegar. If you feel brave enough, try the ACV on its own to see if he still reacts to it.

Caryn,

Thx for the info. on HFCS. We treated the honey & it didn't take away the vocal but treating the ACV did.

Pat

just out of curiousity...how many naet visits did it take and how soon after did you see results

and how long from tirme of treatment till it was completely gone?

thanks caryn on info about honey!!!!

fixit,

This is our experience. If i find the exact trigger, the symptoms goes away about 4/5 days later after 1 NAET treatment. Keeping a good journal is very very helpful!
