Herx- swollen sore glands, sore shoulders?
sptcmom replied to pixiesmommy's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
One of my patients- 4.5 years old with positive Lyme has recently had a cyst removed from the blood supply to the parietal lobe area of the brain which was compressing the artery and causing weakness on one side of his body. Was removed and was full of bacteria but the hospital claims they were unable to identify the exact nature of the creatures. Whatever. Atleast the child is ok. Your symptoms sound like a herx. I had sudden onset of swelling and pain on the right side of my ribs front and back. Excrutiating pain on laughing, coughing, sneezing, even deep breaths- acute inflammatory costochondritis one sided though. The lumpiness is dying out now a week later and off Doxy and the pain is better too. Heavy detox and Klinghardt protocols helped. Oh and yes, for increasing Lymph drainage in your concerned area we used the remedy Septonsil from Bioresource very very successfully.Very helpful for upper respiratory/neck area lymph drainage. can be mixed in with Burbur/Parsley. Jodie -
Doxy alone will do a number in us women. Is it UTI or fungal? Do you have low grade fever,Frequency/urgency with burning including droplets or is it increased discharge, itchiness and a fungal issue. If UTI per se then its usually bacterial. A quick urine culture test should solve that. Its better to ID the bacteria. Green smoothies are fine. No relation. If just frequency/urgency with no burning urination or fever then its a herx. Rx is stop meds a couple days and detox, pure coconut water is a big help to flush out stuff. I also had rib swelling and inflammation on the right side- excrutiatingly painful. Went off meds for a week, detoxed and am better now. If typical yeast with itching and discharge its a fungal issue- Rx is ADP tablets from Biotics research is what I use daily when Im on ABX for my Lyme. For immediate relief i would ask for Diflucan. One tablet jump started me and then I maintained myself on ADP and high dose probiotics. Homeopathic remedy called Cantharis helps immensely. Use a 200c or 200x potency 5-7 pills 4-5 times a day on empty stomach and no food or water for 30 mins after. Ive used all above with 100% success with DS and myself. Jodie

We found organic crib mattress for a great sale and bought two for DS.Two large ones make a decent twin size bed on a wood platform bed, Bombay style. Its the crib mattreses that are reasonable and go on sale often. Ofcourse during dad's army stint in Bombay, the mattresses were plain old tapestry cloth pressure stuffed with just plain old cotton, no metals, nothing.Maybe Asian bazaars may have something similar. I know the Caribbean countries use those kind of simple mattresses.

Point to note is its Lemon juice NOT limes. Limes are not unripe lemons but a different tree altogether. lemon Juice when taken with water is beneficial and turns alkaline when processed in the body. Not so with Lime juice which remains acidic. Our LLMD pointed out to us. So don't worry about stomach irritation from acidity with lemons, all in moderation ofcourse. Microsilica can be taken with lemon juice, grapefruit juice or matrix electrolyte water. Plain old Fiji water is fine too. needs to be four ounces though. Had the opportunity to clarify all his Lyme and other protocols with Dr Klinghardt at his last seminar in NYC last month. His protocols get fine tuned every so often since he's constantly tweaking ingredients for optimum efficacy he said.

I TOTALLY agree with dcmom. I have used organic all natural everything on ds- sun block, big spray etc. Look where it got us. Our LLMD does a ton of holistic but as far as precautions go the natural just isn't strong enough she tells us. I use all the products dcmom mentions on my property and also use the spray Ultrathon on ds everyday he's outside or has outside recess in school. We use frontline on the dog with minimal intervals b/w applications as per vet's allownace. and we also use Liquid Net spray on her under carriage when she's on the grassy areas. I keep her electric fence at 6 feet within the property line so she doesn't come in contact with the bushes around the property- we have an evergreen fence on three sides. The bushes around the house itself have been treated with Deer Off and Damminix so Im just praying for success this spring. Strep exposure - rough couple of weeks
sptcmom replied to mama2alex's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
We've had several set backs due to Strep etc exposure. Inspite of precautions bordering on crazy at school, we've still had it and once at music school. We rotated abx once and it worked. We now just rotate the herbal and homeopathic protocol and that seems to halt issues but with herxing. I will take herxing over backslide anyday and we're making that our M.O. The rotation antimicrobial protocol is pricey but has been worth it so far. Figure we can cut back other places. Curiously enough our LLMDs 1 and 2 both donot recommend cholestyramine for kids. Our LLMD 2 actually felt strongly about it being too strong for kids.We use microsilica rotated with bentonite clay for detox. Also chlorella and cilantro for different kind of detox. Each ofthese detoxes diff issues as a primary function which is what I like to pay attention to and accordingly rotate. -
Do we have any congenital Lyme moms on here?
sptcmom replied to EmersonAilidh's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Unfortunately DS is a third generation Lyme plus/minus Bartonella child with Bartonella currently and Lyme not yet provoked. I have Lyme, Bartonella and Babesia not yet provoked. My mom very clearly (hind sight 20-20) had lyme plus Bartonella. A.R.T. has confirmed all three of us and blood tests in DS and I. Need to get DH tested soon. Have trained under and spoken to Dr Klinghardt as well which has further confirmed all of this. Also lost 4 of my 5 brothers to lyme and coinfection related conditions. My sister, brother #4, myself and mom are the only ones in our originally huge family that are still alive. I was an army brat so we lived everywhere, mom had pets, even had a small mice infestation once and hence the cat, rabbits and a dog as pets- all indoor ourdoor pets, and ofcourse not too much Lyme awareness.Mom is pushing 80 so don't want to pressure for bloodwork. Dr Klinghardt thinks it might be further back in he family tree as he heard the history. My ancestors have also had a lot of military/war exposure- grandpa and great uncles were all soldiers. Jodie -
A little update & bartonella rash question
sptcmom replied to Iowadawn's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I am very happy to hear Babesia is under control. Congrats indeed. I know you have been thru very hard times trying to deal with Lyme in the family. Provocation rash is a good sign. Sounds like a Bartonella rash the way you describe it. I am on Doxy for borreliosis and developed two bulls eyes- left thigh and right butt about a week into the treatment. It did itch initially but may have been dry skin but the bulls eye was clear and startling. Fading away now. Jodie -
I posted this so long long ago and things have totally changed on my side. but Klinghardt sees very very few kids himself per se. There is a huuuuuuuuuuge waiting list. His England office is less busy but he told me that the Kirkland office has all the latest tools he uses. They usually assign you one of his trained docs and not him unless they determine its necessary. Its hard enough to get in the center as is. Ron Abdullahi the office manager will call and schedule and its a couple months to speak to Ron even. Dr Kling trained docs have phenomenal reviews. There are several Klinghardt certified practitioners around the country- just many don't advertise due to FDA issues. Wendy- Dr Klinghardt has a new business manager. At the workshop, I literally stood up, took the mike and asked if anyone knew an ART practitioner in San Francisco area and there wasn't anyone. The closest was San Diego. I spoke to the business manager and she is compiling a list of national practitioners. I will let you know as soon as I know.

help!help! Son's neck is so stiff can't move
sptcmom replied to lismom's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
is he on antibiotics? There was a thread running on neck stiffness a while back, just couldn't find it for you. BUT neck stiffness is concerning.Need to rule out acquired infections. Is there fever, nausea, headache, blurry vision, absences (mini seizures/staring spells), toothache, loose tooth? or just neck pain. Why neck pain? Unless its acute trauma on a body part, don't use cold packs for children with suspected or otherwise Lyme. Lyme kids have blood thickening issues. Cold packs will only block circulation more. use a warm pack instead and on a greater surface area to improve blood flow/perfusion. Wrap a hot/warm pack around neck loosely. Actually warming the base of neck blood vessels (in front) improves bloodflow to the brain in our kids and helps with several cortical issues, esp anxiety. If you have turmeric at home I use a poultice- turmeric , garlic (fresh paste), Fuller's earth and olive oil paste to pull out toxins and help with pain. Is he sleeping well? maybe not due to pain. Lack of adequate sleep increases inflammatory cytokines which inturn increases pain. Anyway he can get good sleep? Benadryl would be a good idea after infection has been ruled out. If your son is on Lyme meds already, magnesium also helps. Oral mag is fine if he's being treated for Lyme. Otherwise it can feed untreated spirochetes. Then I would use transdermal mag lotion. Hot/warm as tolerated epsom salt baths with ginger essential oil and rosemary are good for aches and pains too and detox. Jodie Yes he's on antibiotics. Omnicef and zith. The muscles in the neck spasm and now it hurts and stiff. He sleeps well. His only other obvious symptoms are knee, back pain and fatigue. I'll try the warmth instead. How do you find magnesium lotion? Magnederm gel from designs for health. Magnesium helps with muscle spasms. If he's on abx for lyme already you can use the oral magnesium. Yes, chiropractic manipulation can help- cranio sacral work. I would go to a specifically trained one though. -

Melinda- I am so sorry to hear this. DS's LLMD had a definitive answer for herxing- its a slow rise in symptoms, symptoms peak and then fall again- so like a Bell curve. if its reexposure/ new infection you'll see symptoms add on. I agree with Wendy and Elizabeth and would think along the lines of viruses, yeast, strep, mycoplasma. we have a very specific protocol (herbal/homeopathic) to pull out of any new exposure. I can PM you that. Works every time so far. Rifampin is contraindicated/ high caution if LFTs are off. It blocks liver detox pathway phase 2 as well if children have genetic polymorphisms in that area. Rotating abx is always a good idea if you're not using any holistic antimicrobials and biofilm strippers. Adequate probiotics should take away your C-diff worries. If you're worried about c-diff your probiotics may not be high enough. Drinking Fountain water in school can introduce viruses as well as intestinal parasites, as can eating out food with raw ingredients like salads; eating out hot cooked food is a better option. Detox plus drainage plus liver support. Decrease physical and mental stress, increase sleep- usual extra precautions. If biofilms are a concern- as they usually are in our kids, the amount may have increased and the abx is not getting thru could be a problem. or usually phospholipids are needed for good intracellular absorption/penetration of meds and supplements. I use organic Ghee for this purpose and also organic coconut oil- eat and rub on skin. The EMF scenario needs to be tackled. I believe all angles need to addressed at the same time as much as possible as long as possible.I was seeing a lot of horrible ups and downs until I realized this. Bactroban ointment- I can get my primary care guy to prescribe this one (mupirocin- generic) for cuts and scrapes I keep getting at work and then use it for DS. Or regular plain old Neosporin is fine too.

Onions/Garlic/Mustard feed parasites?
sptcmom replied to pixiesmommy's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Thanks for posting this Michael. Its great info and I will look into this further. It never ceases to surprise me how much people differ in their approaches and beliefs and internal physiology. Holistically for each and every yay sayers of a method there are an equal number of nay sayers and both have tons of experiences, data, research etc. What works for one doesn't for another. I've been brought up vegan and with an ayurvedic plus homeopathic approach to maladies rather than allopathic unless essential. All vegetables, roots and herbs are ok with me- from bitter melon to turmeric root raw. They all have their good points. Never been hurt by any edible fruits and vegetables. Never tasted meat, eggs, fish or dairy products or alcohol. No health reason just mom brought us up that way due to religious beliefs and it stuck with me. Poor communities around the world have little else to work with and on a couple missions to rural Kenya I observed mothers washing with warm water and then covering open wounds and scrapes with onion paste, turmeric paste and or Fuller's earth. I guess its a journey, very individualistic and unique. I find it hard to believe anybody's body of work outhere to be the absolute. I've found a few clinicians whose work has inspired me and saved my son's life and thats what Im going with. Would love to peek at your blog once you've completed your research Manda! -
Onions/Garlic/Mustard feed parasites?
sptcmom replied to pixiesmommy's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
As per my knowledge all three are fine and extremely beneficial. Garlic info: garlic has a natural compound called alliin which becomes converted to allicen in the mouth (saliva) and in the digestive tract. Allicen is what rips open biofilms, is antimicrobial, antiyeast and antiviral. Numerous research studies available on this. NOW, when garlic is excessively cooked the alliin can become deactivated and some reports say the cooking process can increase oxalates which are not beneficial at all and even considered harmful (google oxalate diet). Onions and mustard help in the three phases of the methylation and liver detox pathways. Onions especially onion family- leeks etc, cabbage, cauliflower, brussels sprouts and the like are beneficial as per my knowledge. Again raw is better in salads and overcooked is not beneficial. Mustard, parsley, sea salt, oregano, hot pepper, turmeric, cumin, coriander and other naturally made condiments (not bbq sauce, ketchup - KWIM), herbs and spices are beneficial when consumed daily in small amounts. If the person is alreay being treated for Lyme etc, then these are not really a problem as long as on a good abx plus detox plus nutritional support regimen. As per my knowledge. This is what I follow for my family and friends. Jodie -
Wendy, good info on Babesia. My LLMD feels I have it too and is hoping to provoke since the tests came back negative. ART wise I tested positive for Babesia as you know. It can be as high as 80% for people who have travelled to third world /developing countries and I have travelled to India quite a bit. Have to resolve the congenital mystery on my side as well. Pain has been a constant companion for a while now. Severe neck, shoulder, knee and right hip. It feels like someone is twisting my muscles into a knots actively as I speak, bad bad pain. One just gets used to it. I have some cranial nerve damage leading to high pain tolerance but it still hurts like the dickens. The right side of my face is beginning to show some herxing now and has started drooping so once in a while I find myself drooling. Have trained myself to just wipe off every 20 mins or so! LOL! This herx I wish would go away quickly! Am trying to get back a bit on the forums. Have been away studying and exploring new ventures but have some time to myself now that days are not full of cramming. Jodie

Im so sorry about your niece. I have no words- it was just so sad to read. I use vita coco pure coconut water. It also comes in flavors which helps with DS. Im sorry, no pressure about chatting at all. It was just a suggestion. No worries. Have you tried Valerian root oral drops, or calmes forte oral tabs or lavender essential oil in her bath just to calm her down. taurine is another supplement that helps with relaxation along with good old magnesium of course. I hope mom and Dd both feel better soon.

Melinda Can you increase antimicrobial herbs and detox plus drainage? For example increase A-Bart from 5 to 10 drops and the same for Burbur, Parsley if you're doing those. If not you need to add some additional immune plus antimicrobials. Based on the circumstances you point out- play area, new kids- sounds like exposure to me. I have DS wear a mask during group work, and he has strategic seating in class to minimize exposure. I tend to go overboard with preventative stuff in general so this situation has me totally obsessed. His school nurse agrees with all the precautions in place, so thats a redemption.I restrict a lot of activities and avoid crowded places, birthday parties etc. DS and I have an agreement for 3rd grade to be bland so he can have more freedom in 4th grade. The powerful toothbrush is a big clue and yes too powerful for a child. If this feels different to you I feel you might be dealing with more than one exposure to more than one microbe- strep and myco are pretty common in this season. Yeast is another possibility. Im sorry I don't remember your entire situation in detail.Has she been screened for yeast? If any of her supllements are killing the yeast or any particular supplement can be moving metals and that can cause a huge flare. I wish I could call you to problem solve. Syimmune is a great idea and as is SyInfect for any active infections. Also exposures further decrease the PH in the body. Alkaline water helps meds and supplements penetrate deeper into the cells- alkaline water, Fiji water, Eternal springs water all have a Ph of 7.8 or higher. Coconut water- pure, no sugar added is phenomenal for hydration. Electrolytes are present in above waters I mentioned but Dr kling's matrix electrolyte water is awesome. Bottomline keep her more hydrated than usual. Jodie

Thanks for the update Wendy. We're learning with you. All information is good information when it comes to Lyme. Ds's LLMD appt was last week but mine is this week- I hope. New Jersey's been crazy with these weekly snow storms. Lets see what happens. I've cancelled so many appts. I thought I would post a update after both. It looks like you are finding more answers with each visit and Im very happy for you.

Dr. Klinghardt on lyme, 2006
sptcmom replied to MichaelTampa's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Dr Klinghardt believes in a total individualized prescription for each child/adult he sees. He does ART, blood tests and checks all possible sources of deep buried trauma thats weakened the immune system and manifesting as any imbalance- Autism, ADHD, Lyme etc. mental Field Therapy, neural Therapy, Tai chi, qigong, Klinghardt Matrix therapy, biofeedback, etc etc are all some of the techniques he will prescribe. Biochemistry/abx certainly has a role in his protocol but as a helping hand and not considered as curative. His protocols are readily available simply because those are not generally applicable or duplicable just like that. That would be a dangerous thing to do. The herbs and techniques he talks about are very powerful. The root source of / the origin of the current problem has to be ascertained using ART and ART advanced techniques and the order of treatment- which organ system to treat first will depend on each person's presentation and origin of disease/disturbance in the Bio-Photon field and the degree of disturbance/damage to the matrix. Many moms here are already familiar with Dr Kling's ART and know it can be a great approach when done with a properly trained health care practitioner. Thanks Michael for posting. Its a great read. -
Susan- God Bless! Thrilled for you and your DD. Jodie

We're taking Transfer Factor Broad spectrum EB for help with fighting the Epstein Barr /Herpes grp of viruses for DS. My LLMD visit is next week for treatment strategies.Ds's LLMD recommended it. Also, Dr Burrascano recommends a couple of their products for antimicrobial and energy. Researched Nutritionals is a well known and reputable company in the field of Holistic Medicine. The reps are always happy to help and knowledgeable. Our LLMD recommends several of their products as we peel one layer at a time. Also, no, no herxing for DS with the Transfer Factor EB. Jodie

Col Univ Lyme and Tick-borne Dis Center, NY
sptcmom replied to lyme_mom's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Hello I have a little patient who will be evaluated at Columbia Presbyterian LD center by Dr Fallon and his team. This child was born there and has specialists there and so it was a logical choice for mom and dad. They do have an appt but this child is frail and the appt won't happen until it happens if you know what I mean. Im sorry that right now I don't know but sure can update you when that happens. But these parents are very influential in the NY/NJ business community and their sources told them that the LD center was fantastic, the approach and staff were top class. Overall they've had a phenomenal experience with Columbia staff last 3 years. They are very detail oriented mom says. BUT two problems she's faced are: if the child is mild to moderately involved the approach has not been very aggressive- mom says the docs see so many critically disabled children everyday and can be less sensitive to a child who seems to be doing kinda ok. Secondly it been really hard getting copies of tests, reports etc to bring to other appts. Im still waiting after 2 years. Mom has circumvented the first problem by being aggressive in her approach and very actively participating in her child's care. The second we have no answer to. Jodie -
Vagus Nerve Involvement with Lyme Disease
sptcmom replied to sf_mom's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Well, lets look at it this way- those who are believers of ART muscle testing especially. The entire basis of ART is the autonomic nervous system. The Vagus nerve and its branches are what make up almost half of that. Vagus is the calming and regulating counterpart- parasympathetic. When there is a dysfunction of the parasympathetic system, the sympathetic nerves- the flight or fight reaction system- takes over. The body's internal organs ready themselves for a fight to save our life or running away to save our life situation. This "panic" attack happens in non major stress situations (driving during rush hour)is not fully controlled without the full strength counter reaction by the Vagus nerve which is damaged by Lyme or any other condition (MS for example). The Vagus nerve and its counterpart the sympathetic nerves can change the internal environment of the body. They control the internal muscles- the Heart, bladder, tongue, throat, swallowing, stomach, colon, bladder, arteries, blood flow etc. When both systems are in balance then the body is regulated and not under stress or any stress has been effectively neutralized by a healthy autonomic nervous system. When imbalance occurs you see panic attacks, anxiety, cold hands and feet, heart attacks even. ART can detect these changes and what the causative agent is can be determined if being done by an effective practitioner. The scariest part is that this system also regulates the Hormones. So hormonal imbalances are common in Lyme and coinfections. Also in any other chronic stress inducing illnesses and/or situations like Autism, job as an air traffic controller etc. -
Vagus Nerve Involvement with Lyme Disease
sptcmom replied to sf_mom's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
yes, I remember Dr Jones talking to us about this. DS has trigeminal and facial cranial nerve involvements as per dr J. Thanks for posting Wendy. I love the info. I'll add it to my Lyme handout at work.
