  1. Yes, a lot of parents have decided to increase antibiotics prior to having dental work done. Some also make sure they have a steroid burst on hand in case things start to creep back up. I'd even talk to the dental office and tell them she has an autoimmune disorder related to strep. That way if the dentist or aid has been exposed recently, they know to put that mask on right away or even have someone else help with the procedure.
  2. There's a lot of action on the pepsi site today, but we're still holding on to #8! Keep up the great work! Every vote makes a difference!
  3. I'm sorry. Have you started the kids on Ibuprofen as well to try to fend off any impending inflammation?
  4. Lynn, in many marriages on this borad, the husband and wife "deals" with the illness and the stress diffrently. I worry enough for myself, my husband and everyone else surrounding us. I mean, he worries too, but maybe he's a silent worrier? Where it does encompass my thoughts, different scenarios run through my mind, and I will talk about it out loud with him. Sometimes, I think he knows deep inside that I will do enough work, research, etc for the two of us and he just doesn't have to worry about it as much, I don't know....... Did you say you tried Ibuprofen with your child? If not, try it. It really does work for a good portion of PANDAS kids.
  5. If she is improving to the point that is the OCD she has left 7 days into antibiotics, that's good! It also reinforces the PANDAS dx. How long will she be on the penicilliin for? What other symptoms did she/does she have?
  6. Excitement, being overtired, and if at all nervous about new surroundings can worsen PANDAS symptoms. The tics may calm down once he gets a good rest and feels more comfortable in the different surroundings. If you didn't bring Ibuprofen with you, make a quick stop for some and try that. I hope you are able to enjoy the vacation. Just try to see the positive. I hope it gets better...........
  7. Good evening everyone! It's been an exciting week. Let's take advantage of the weekend and make sure we get our votes in. Last weekend, we noticed a few in the higher ranks falling. Try to stick to the list since some other causes may have agreements and not reciprocate votes to anyone if not in their alliance. I am avoiding those. Thank you to everyone and let's ee if we can see lucky #7 this weekend!
  8. Good luck with IVIG...and not visiting this forum. You can do it!
  9. Perfect. Thank you to everyone.
  10. dut, no I didn't get a server error. If you cannot complete it, it's okay. This was a response I got in reference to a non profit... "OU Pandas Foundation, P.O. Box 26901, Library - 162, Oklahoma City, OK 7312.” . OU PANDAS Foundation is the Univ of OK (Dr C's research) Thank you, Linda, on facebook!
  11. Great job! I admit that mine was a bit rushed. I'm juggling the other Pepsi stuff too. Yours is soooooo much better:)
  12. Someone on facebook asked whether Dr C's work would be considered a non-profit. This is how I responded... In reference to the question about the photo. Did you save a photo on your computer? If so, when you click "browse" it connects you to all your files. You find the one you want to use and double click. The photo itself will not pop up on the entry but the info of it fills the box. You should then be able to submit it. One moment.....Since Lynn Johnson heads PRN and she has been affiliated w/ the Today Show, would there be a conflict of interest if anyone lists PRN? Opinions on PRN vs just listing Dr C would be appreciated.
  13. ATTENTION! Pepsi is giving away $100K through the Today Show! This is separate from our current contest. Please do this for PANDAS! http://www.today.msnbc.msn.com/id/37363393 Here is an example of text if you are in a hurry. Personalize the text if you have the time. If you don't have time, just cut and paste a general plea.... "I care about kids that are suffering from an autoimmune disorder affecting the brain. We need funding for research that will help them! Please select Dr Cunningham’s PANDAS research at the Univ of OK! PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Strep) is an autoimmune disorder that causes OCD, tics, sensory problems, anxiety, and more. If a child is diagnosed correctly, they will be saved from a misdiagnosis of another disorder, unnecessary psychotropic drugs, and unneeded suffering. If a child is treated properly, remission is possible. Please help our kids and help fund Dr. Cunningham’s research! " A picture is REQUIRED for submission. 16. Good morning! The graphic designer entry in 50K is falling fast. He's now #8. We have the ability to take that spot TODAY! Please vote and promote!
  17. Have you seen the thread about OCD in young kdis as experienced by PANDAS parents on this board? After reading, many are surprise their child had more OCD tendencies than they realized. http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?...ic=6153&hl= Also, some PANDAS kids will find relief with Ibuprofen. Something to try if he can take it. It doesn't work for all PANDAS kids, but if it does...well...it tells you inflammation is going on.
  18. Oh, boy. I am getting more errors on the page. There's times when log in seems like it may freeze, but snaps out of it on my computer. Overall, I have gotten it to work. Of course, pepsi will say it our computers. Have you tried cleaning out temp internet files? That's all I can think of Maybe that's why all the rankings are going all over the place? People are having a hard time voting. All the ones that are falling are in MD, MA, NY. ......East. Coincidence?
  19. So far, we are still holding onto #9! I see everyone else flying all over the place. WMS, which has been 7 for awhile, now slipped to 9. After the first week, a lot of people are now scurrying to find alliances and I think that's why the rankings are changing so much. I hope ours only improves!
  20. Welcome. You mentioned that you have that doubt of being PANDAS due to the blinking eye tic prior to the major onset. It could be that the first "major onset" wasn't necessarily his first exacerbation. I wouldn't let that be a reason to rule out the exploration of PANDAS. Many on this forum can tell you their own more "chronic" stories where there wasn't an explosion or there are others, in hindsight, realize more minor problems occurred before the first big explosion. Out of curiosity, is there is history of Rheumatic Fever in your family? It's not necessary, but some find that in their family historyy. Or a history of other autoimmune disorders?
