OMG! I saw someone post this as their fb status. I didn't even know. So I took a pic, posted it on fb and went back to the site to see we're 5 again. Thank God I got that picture! It's a tight race now! I don't know about you, but I want PANDAS to be the #1 HEALTH CAUSE in 50K! We can do it!

The National Tourette Syndrome Association has let me post our cause on their facebook page without deleting it a few times this month. It's a start. First, a HUGE thank you to Kelly, Vickie and others who've sacrificed so much family time to achieve so much! So here's an idea to kick around after the 1st of the month...someone mentioned a few weeks ago about a few doctors in Texas who were now willing to consider Pandas treatment because of some things they heard at Autism One. In 2 weeks, the OC Foundation hosts its annual conference and Drs. Swedo, Cunningham, Leckman, Kovacevic and Nicolaides will all be presenting in a Pandas track. Maybe one project would be to coordinate speakers and/or Pandas tracks at other upcoming conferences (which generally set speakers' lists 4-6 months ahead of time). The more Pandas tracks, the more presentations by the professionals/experts, the more it becomes "real" to the doctors in attendance, the more "main stream". Can we come up with a half dozen conferences in the next 12 months? Immunology, pediatrics, neurology? We'll know we can all retire the day they have a Pandas track at a TS conference !

I've been watching the leader board and there is a cause (not us) in a catagory that just fell from 8 to 12 in one day! This is proof that we cannot let up and we muct keep pushing. We have to make sure something like that doesn't happen to us. I've been promoting it all over facebook. If you find a free moment, please post our cause somewhere. Every vote makes a difference!

If you look at our morning voting list for Pepsi, we support Narcolepsy Immuno Chip Research. They have even said that at Stanford (where their research is based out of) a good number of narcolepsy patients had a strep infection within a year of their first onset of narcolepsy. On their Pepsi write up, they say their research may also help autism, bipolar, etc.

Bumping this for the lunch crowd. Remember, the money isn't ours until the check is written:)

Believe it or not, this is the first time I've really had a chance to read this and the responses. I would like to see the money somehow used to further research as what is said in our "budget" on the application. Like others, I would like it to be used specifically on/for PANDAS kids. Now I am just brainstorming here. Could we designate any money to be dog eared as a "discount" for families who cannot afford a test? Maybe with an income of $50K or less? The problem with this is establishing who would get the discount. Like a child who fits a designated definition of PANDAS and a family that can show their income. But that is asking the office to do more work. So....and I'm thinking while typing...maybe no discount or free tests should be given. Oh, that's hard for me since I know what it's like to need something medical and not be able to afford it. But, the Pepsi Refresh Grant was for research and making progress in what we know about the disorder and that is what it should go to. Hopefully, if we win, more funds will somehow find their way to Dr Cunningham and the Pepsi Grant will just be the beginning. One can hope!

I think some of the winners get featured in some of the ads. If anyone watches the whole leader board, something wacky happened. MAJOR shifting for everyone. So, that tells me that other alliances may be having issues, spreading themselves too thin, or there was a glitch at some point and now it is corrected. We just have to keep pushing with everything we have. Now that some have worsened, they will be fighting harder to get their spot back! Everyone is doing an awesome job. In the last couple days, we have increased the fan page by I think 12-13 people and I see some new voters popping up here and there. Keep up the great work!
