Hi Faith, I have wondered that for awhile, and what I notice is the sounds always change and it seems like if he likes one he does it for some time. What I do think happened to or son somewhat of how you explained it was the, "words" as vocals. These seem to have the tapering off effect. That is how I viewed it for our son. Hope that helped, Cheers

You have a laundry shoot.... LUCKY! Who are you again?

Chemar, that is so good to hear about your son. Have some land in GA by the lake near SC line, beautiful country, I bet he is having a blast. I wish I was there, it's cold here! Bonnie, Bonnie, you are causing me some worry. I love the story about your son, that's so cool. You all, I have met this young man and he is a gem. CP

First sorry it's been awhile, my computer has a bug. I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year and to let you know you will be remembered in my prayers during Holy Hours for the coming year. Next I can not reply to all the posts I have missed but wanted to ask how Bonnie was doing? And another newcomer (forgot the name but has an 11 1/2 yo.) just to let you know I undrstand your hard days right now. Short update on son. He is still doing well after the T&A and his yeast overgrowth is slowly going away. He only has a small white spot on tongue now. His training requirements for the volunteer fire dept. is going well. He pasted the Blood Borne Pathogens test, CPR, and is working on the Haz Mat Awareness. He is not cleared to ride yet but should be soon, he must train in rope knots and throw ladders. He is loving it and working hard. His heaviest obligation will be FF1 and that will take 7 months. Again he is 16yo and 4 years ago he exploded with non-stop screaming. If anyone told me 4 years ago he would be doing this I never would have believed it. So to all the moms and dads who just don't know where this road is taking them, please know where you least expect to find peace from all this, it is really not that far off. CP

exasperation after tonsilectomy/adenoidectomy
CSP replied to earnestfamily7's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Hi, My son just had the T&A done almost 3 weeks ago. He increased in tics (vocals) around day 5 after the T&A. He has been doing very very well since last Sat. He has times when he is great for an hour where before he would tic every 2 to 3 seconds. He has a DX of TS. My thought to you is my son has a bad yeast problem now because of all the ABX and is being treated for that. I was wondering if your son is having some issues with yeast too, and is reacting from that? Just a thought I would mention. Sorry this is not going well, I hope this calms soon. CP -
My computer is not working at this time, so I have to make this quick I'll try to get back to you all when I get it fixed. Just wanted to say our son has been doing very well with the vocals since the T&A. We do not understand why, but he goes for an hour or longer without making any vocals. So far we can only hope it was the T&A that has helped. I would say the best he has been since this summer when he first started the Keflex. He is not taking any ABX at this time. CP

I just did a quick look up on Keflex to read more about it, and I see one can buy it on line. Do you all do this? If not... would you buy online? CP P.S. I would post the link but I don't know how to do that. I just googled it and it came up.

Hi Vickie, He is DX TS and this past summer we were given an antibiotic for some bug bites he got, and it was Keflex. He had been on Antibiotics before (not keflex) and we never saw much of anything, it is hard with him because he does not tic when sick, so we always saw the vocals come back. Was it from stopping the abx or the illness was over, we are not sure. Yes, my husband and I were wondering why if he has TS he wouldn't have just changed the tic to something else if his throat hurt too much. He is not on Abx, after this 10 day supply is gone. My husband had tics growing up and that is why we have the TS DX. However my husband does not tic. He has a habit of calling me "Love" whan he talks to me. But he does not just tic. Thanks, cp

Hi everyone, Son had the T&A last week Tues. Recovery is going well he was up by Sun. Eating is still a little painful, but he went all day today with out any pain med. So this is what happened... Tues, Wed. and Thurs. he had no tics at all. By Fri. we started to hear the kissing sound he use to make when he was around 8 or 9yo. Vocals started to come back Sun. He has been on Amox. and was given Keflex IV during surgery. Keflex is the ABX that seemed to help his tics decrease in the summer. We followed up with ENT today and told him about the 3 days of no tics, and said son's explation was... he did not think about them during those 3 days. ENT said it was a neuro problem. (humm????) He is breathing through his nose, something he has not been able to do. He can't open his mouth very wide and his tongue is kind of a black color. Doc. said his breath would smell, but that has not happened yet. Other then that Dr. said his tonsils were a lot larger then he thought. Should I be on the look out for anything else? Thanks for the support, CP

Has the cheerleader been discussed here?

Drs. are in agreement her health was caused by the flu shot, and believe that detoxing her would help get rid of the "toxins" in her body that was causing her to have seizures every 45-60 sec. She is reported to be improving with treatment and good results to her central nervous system. -
I homeschool my youngest and have for 8 years. I did homeschool all three of my kids at one point until the older two entered public school. The best advice I can give is, keep a schedule. My dd is a year ahead in math and she is a wonderful writer. If you are a Christian family and have some kind of Reg. Ed that is the best subject to start the day. Problems just melt away if you have talked with the Lord first thing, and He will Bless the rest of your day. Good luck, it is the best thing I have ever done in my life. CP

Hi all, In my research and looking for some things my son can have after his T&A i wanted to know if you all give your kids coconut water daily/once in awhile? Hos. said he could have a clear liquid until the morning of the T&A and coconut water was what came to mind first. Then it got me thinking I would use it in recovery after. All the health benefits to is sound great. I have seen that it could be used during strep so was not sure if you all thought that was something that would help with your PANDAS children. Any thoughts, CP

Welcome, jdmom, I was wondering if you had a family history of TS. My son now 16yo exploded at 12yo with screaming like you wouldn't believe. I was a mess for a year and then started to take another year to pull myself out of it. Part of my problem is Pride I would have thought God had blessed me with the 3 best children in the world and thought it was my parenting skills that kept them in line. They just alwys listen and never had fits about anything. Well when my son would not stop screaming I thought I would pull my hair out. I could not believe he could not stop. It took a long time for me to back off and I still struggle with that sometimes. Like you, my husband is a rock, and he has been the one I turn to. I hate the thought that every time he makes noise it is just a reminder I have not stopped this for him. I spend a lot of time praying and God always give me the grace I need to keep plugging along. Now about your question my son does not scream anymore and the vocal tic is all he has. so I would say as bad as he was to how good he is today, yes they do get better as they get older. I hope this was helpful to let you know I'm right there caring my cross with ya. Sometimes we just need a Simon to help when it gets to heavy, and this place is just the Simon you could be looking for. CP

That reminds me, Chari, how is your son after the whole full moon last month. The lady I work for thought the moon was really messing with people, she has had more odd things going on then she has ever seen before. (Long Story) Hope your hubby will be well soon, God Bless. CP

I saved my PM, I hope I know how to get it back, , I don't want to write that one again. CP

Mary, Aborted fetal cells are use in the MMR and HAP. A too. Some others but I can't remember them all. Ones like Polio you can get another vaccine that does not have AFC in it. I read a very horrid report that the vaccine co. promote abortions just to use the cells. Another artical on researchers are looking into the MMR and since there is no alt. vaccine without AFC this is the shot most are concerned with as far a autism goes. It reminds me of MAD COW. Now I know I'm just a dumb mom, but common sense tells me another human's cells put into our bodies can't be good. Faith, Yes, your state is one of the hardest to get exempt from these shots. I read some are trying to get rid of the REG/PHI. option for exemption. I would go with the MED. if you can get a Dr. to help. My copy of the exemption does say Commonwealth of VA. Also I printed one for the Meningococcal waiver, since my 2 older kids have had this vaccine I'm going to use this for youngest. CP

Hi Bonnie, I make my beef stock with several sors of bones. Beef marrow, rib, knuckle, sometimes I just have my husband cut the meat off T-bones and use them. Dr. said to roast the bones in the oven for about 30 min. Then put in 4 or more quarts of water. you can use a couple Tbls of ACV and as much as 1/4 cup. 3 of each, cut onions, carrots, celery. some peppercorns and Thyme sprigs tied together. You can simmer this for as long as you like the longer the better. Scrape any scum that rises to the top, and throw out. Start with cold water and as the water warms it open the fibers to the bones to release their juice. She said the ACV helps with this and draws more out. CP

Ok, ENT said son's tonsils were large and he would take them out. He knew a lot about PANDAS and when my son objected to the T&A he was real good at calming him down and told him it would be worth it if he had any strep in the tonsils. My son did just have strep, but we have been told he has TS so he thinks we are putting him through something that he does not need. Dr agreed to only 5 days of zith. and he is do for the T&A Tues. I wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving, but ds said that he did not want to miss a fire fighter training class in Dec. He does not want to be out of school a week so since Tues. is their last day before Thankgiving he really is only missing maybe 2 days of school. Dr. said he will do abx during and after so I'm good with that. Please, please keep him in your prayers. Son thinks he won't wake up. If you all think of anything else I need to know chime in. CP

Bonnie, I will get that for you. I have to run to church, then to work, so I'll get that tomorrow. CP

mar, I would check the internet and find out what is the law in your state. I printed a VA exemption on religous grounds from the computer. My DD was to have the chickenpox shot again entering the 6th grade. She already had it in K and when I found out this vaccine uses aborted fetal cell, as a Catholic I will refuse. Good luck, CP

My homemade tortilla soup is simmering as we speak! Smells so good. Patty my husband could not believe the stew I made with homemade beef stock. Son's Dr. told us to use bone marrow and other meat bones and put apple cider vinegar in it. The acv pulls more of the good stuff out. I just noticed you said ACV is a trigger. Well I'll leave that for anyone else who would like that info. CP

Faith, My brother said his 3 yo dd is 52lbs. I think she is on the heavy side. My son will be getting a physical through the county Sat. for the Fire Dept. I told him to take note of the weight so after the tonsils come out we can see how much he has gained. He was about 115lbs last time he checked. Kinda low for a 16yo boy. CP

I really can't thank you all enough. I feel I'm well prepared and have you all to thank. I just have to tell you all that my son just turned 16 in OCT. and he wanted to join the volunteer fire dept. in our town. He sent in an application and was approved by the board last week. He came home from school and put the VFF uniform on and I just about broke into tears. He looked so handsome and I can only tell you all, he was so bad with the screaming when he was 12yo I would have never thought he would be doing this. Keep the faith all your prayers will be answered for your child. Thanks again for all the help, CP
