CSP Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Hi All, I am worried about my son starting firefighter school this week. I think he is nervous too because the vocals have had an upswing. If you could say a prayer for him, FF school is 7 months long, and if he does not pass he can no longer be a volunteer. Thank you very much, cp

Chemar Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 I hope it will go very well for him CP and that the vocals will settle down. it could be the excitement and "stress' of starting that has them waxing a bit I dont know if he does epsom, but my son has been doing the footbaths each night (1/2-1 cup in footbath...we have a Homedic one but one can also just use a basin of warmest water) The footbath means they can still read or watch TV or computer or whatever. we just keep a towel under it to step out onto will be keeping your son and (((you))) in my prayers

My son is starting to look forward to them! One day at a time...
faith Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 CP, your son will do great, and you have my prayers, I just got back from Church.... Will he be able to balance this with schoolwork? wow, I guess that will be alot of studying..... blessings Faith
CSP Posted February 18, 2010 Author Report Posted February 18, 2010 THANK YOU YOU ALL ARE SWEET! Those must be powerful prayers he was better this morning. Thanks, Faith, I'm worried about the work over load. He cannot get anything lower then a "C" in high school or they kick him out, and the FF school is two nights a week and 8 hours on Sundays. YIKES!!! And to top it off... he is so small he will have a hard time hauling the equipment. My understanding is if one can not do that in the time he is given that is another failure. Thanks again, CP
ilovedogs Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Just saw this today! Will be praying, CSP! I have been so bogged down with other family stuff that I am so drained at night and I forget to come on here. Hope all goes well for him, I know he'll do great! Blessings, Bonnie
Hope Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Your son will absolutely be included in my prayers! I ask God daily to watch over everyone with TS, especially the kids who are trying to learn how to deal with all that is involved with TS. Keep us updated on your son's progress with FF school. What a great thing for him to want to be involved with! You must be so proud!
CSP Posted February 22, 2010 Author Report Posted February 22, 2010 OH MY GOODNESS... KEEP THE PRAYERS COMING. First 8 hour class over with and he said it was hard and long. I asked if he wanted to quit he said, "No." He is really scared tho. next week they have to breath with the oxygen tank and squeeze through a small maze timed. The teacher said a lady died doing this last year. Just what my son needed to hear. He also said some people puke in the mask. He is to drink 8 to 10, 32oz bottles of water a day, all week just to be ready for this. You are right, Cheri, I need them too, thank you. I'm going to be a train wreck by the time this is over. I hope I don't focus on the vocals spiking. CP
faith Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 cp, I'm sure it will be hardest in the beginning, tell him they will be separating the boys from the men... think "Officer and a Gentlemen".......maybe watch it together soon....
ilovedogs Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Hey CSP, still praying here for him. Keep us updated on how things are going for him! Bonnie
CSP Posted March 1, 2010 Author Report Posted March 1, 2010 HE DID IT!!!! He passed the breathing consumption test. He said he felt a little closterfobic (sp?) in the maze, it was pitch black and he could only get through by feeling around. He fell in a hole about 4 feet deep on his head, but the trainer flashed a light so he could see which way was up. His air tank almost flipped off his back. This was pure determination there is no way he could haul the amount of weight in these tests without something driving him. The grown men had a hard time. Trainer said he is lacking in upper body strength, but he passed. I think he can do this...crossing fingers and toes the bookwork won't trip him up. Powerful prayers you all have. THANK YOU! CP
Chemar Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 yay!!!!! I am so happy for him and for you CP
