T_Mom Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 English, Irish, and kids are 3/8ths Norwegian--any other Norwegians?
norcalmom Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 My son is 1/2 Irish, 1/4 Swede, and 1/4 German Jew .
rockytop Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I am essentially 1/2 Gaelic & 1/2 Garlic (I love to write that!)(irish/italian if you cannot figure it out:) So kids are about 1/4 irish; 1/4 italian maybe 1/4 german & 1/4 english.. lookng at family history, paternal grandmother had a very bad year when she was aorund 10 or so- that prevented attending school and was a "blur"-- got better when her tonsils were removed.. PANDAS in 1960, maybe? We are unable to get any elaboration on symptoms, sadly.. but leaves us wondering. Also, the maternal auto-immune history that Dr K has recognized, is very strong in my ITALIAN (and german) mother's family. Crohn's, RA, temporal arteritis interesting thread, certainly
colleenrn Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 My kids are 1/4 Italian, 1/4 German, 1/4 French, 1/8 Irish, and 1/8 English. I was a PANDAS child and I am 1/4 English, 1/4 Irish, 1/2 French. Colleen
smartyjones Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 interesting -- seems to be much irish -- having grown up with a father with a "irish temper" (who also seems to have narcolepsy), i have wondered in the past if that characteristic could be some genetic pre-determination that is really afflicted fight or flight symptom.
GraceUnderPressure Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that the Irish are more genetically vulnerable to autoimmune issues because of the potato famine or something along those lines (may have been in a book about epigenetics that I read a few yrs back) Anyway, my kids are mutts, too (isn't it unusual for American kids not to be?). They have German, Scotch, Cherokee, Belgian, Norwegian & Irish ancestry - those are only the parts we know about for sure!
bronxmom2 Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 ds is also exactly 3/8 Norwegian! Also 1/4 Tongan (South Pacific). Rest is mutt.
