Phasmid Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Spoke too soon!!!! Severe headache, vomiting.... how long can we expect this to go on?
Priscilla Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 My dd's headache usually lasted 3-4 days, milder each day maybe very mild headache for a few days after that. Ibuprofen around the clock really helped. They are all different though.
Priscilla Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 forgot to mention, my dd's pain was mostly in the sinus area, if I put her in a dark room and massaged her sinus it really helped
philamom Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) Phasmid- I felt it was best to alternate with Motrin (or Advil) and Tylenol during waking hours for a couple of days. If his stomach can handle it. Hang in there!! Edited January 8, 2011 by philamom
lyme_mom Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) Another trick for headaches is to put feet in warm water and cold compress on forehead. Works well- a naturopath told me about it. Edited January 8, 2011 by lyme mom
Phasmid Posted January 8, 2011 Author Report Posted January 8, 2011 Great. Thanks guys. I will try Tylenol too then, and the cold compress on head.
NancyD Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Motrin or Advil would be much better than Tylenol. Tylenol lowers the glutathione levels, which is critical for excreting toxins and boosting the immune system. So many of our kids have low glutathione levels to begin with.

But when using Motrin & Advil, you need to space them 6 hours apart (correct?). I would use Motrin and then Tylenol 4 hours later, and then Motrin 4 hours later... I don't think a few days would hurt. We actually had a better response with Tylenol during our last IVIG, but usually I prefer Advil.
Phasmid Posted January 8, 2011 Author Report Posted January 8, 2011 Is Tylenol less upsetting to the stomach? Not sure if he barfs because of the motrin, or because of the headache!
Fixit Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 yes i heard something simailar...and readi it somewhere.... i also think..it was either..norcal,nevergiveup or momof2pandas that had some info on using tylenyol
philamom Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Is Tylenol less upsetting to the stomach? Not sure if he barfs because of the motrin, or because of the headache! I think they are all upsetting to the stomach! We didn't have any barfing with our last two ivig's because my daughter was prescribed prednisone on the day of the infusions...it worked for us. Hang in there. Hopefully, by tomorrow you'll see some relief. Maybe call the doctor for reassurance?
kimballot Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Spoke too soon!!!! Severe headache, vomiting.... how long can we expect this to go on? I know several folks have posted in the past about the doctor ordering one or two prednisone tablets with IVIG to prevent headache. Did your doc do that? Maybe you could search and find info on that?
Phasmid Posted January 8, 2011 Author Report Posted January 8, 2011 okay, i will look through here and maybe just call doc and ask. i think i have one or two prednisone tabs in my very well stocked medicine cabinet!!!!
Phasmid Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 Just wanted to let everyone know that he is fine now this morning- headache, nausea, fever all gone. So it lasted from Friday, the day after infusion, until Saturday night. Thanks for all the replies!
