I still haven't jumped on the zeolite bandwagon, but may do that in the future. I don't think zeolite is as efficient at binding as charcoal, we use diatomaceous earth for that reason as well. We dose supplements at 8:00 am, diatomaceous earth and probiotics at 11:00 am, supplements at 3:00 pm, diatomaceous earth and probiotics at 5:00 pm, supplements at 9:00 pm. We are using DE and cilantro as a natural way to chelate metals. It isn't quick like chemical chelation, but I wasn't comfortable with that route and so we use the slower more natural option. We noticed a difference in EMF sensitivity within a couple of weeks, but will continue for months/years.

And unfortunately, lyme rarely travels alone. I would investigate the coinfections as well: bartonella, the babesias, ehrlichia etc.

Most psychiatrists will reject the idea that psychiatric illness can be caused by infection / inflammation. If that paradigm were to be accepted, they would be out of the prescribing business. Infection / inflammation is a medical problem, not a psychiatric one.

Amazing that the hospital even thought to look for lyme. Hopefully this gives his doctors some pause for thought. Glad he is doing better. He should probably be tested for coinfections or at least clinically diagnosed and receive further proper treatment by an LLMD/LLND.

Davidson 2 and Jingjing Liu Abstract: Autism is a condition characterized by impaired cognitive and social skills, associated with compromised immune function. The incidence is alarmingly on the rise, and environmental factors are increasingly suspected to play a role. This paper investigates word frequency patterns in the U.S. CDC Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) database. Our results provide strong evidence supporting a link between autism and the aluminum in vaccines. A literature review showing toxicity of aluminum in human physiology offers further support. Mentions of autism in VAERS increased steadily at the end of the last century, during a period when mercury was being phased out, while aluminum adjuvant burden was being increased. Using standard log-likelihood ratio techniques, we identify several signs and symptoms that are significantly more prevalent in vaccine reports after 2000, including cellulitis, seizure, depression, fatigue, pain and death, which are also significantly associated with aluminum-containing vaccines. We propose that children with the autism diagnosis are especially vulnerable to toxic metals such as aluminum and mercury due to insufficient serum sulfate and glutathione. A strong correlation between autism and the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine is also observed, which may be partially explained via an increased sensitivity to acetaminophen administered to control fever.

Gut health can effected by metals/vaccine adjuvants, pesticides and GMOs in food which act like antibiotics in the gut, antibiotics in CAFO raised meats, antibiotic treatment, lack of good bacteria passed to the child during C-section as opposed to vaginal birth, lack of good bacteria passed through breast milk if bottle fed. The amount and species passed along during vaginal birth and breast feeding will of course depend on the mother's gut flora and whether or not she is highly vaccinated, and the types of food (organic or not) she eats and how many antibiotic treatments she has had. Dr P took a good history and noted that this boy had lots of infections and antibiotics at a young age. His mother was already giving him probiotics, but Dr P wondered just how much of the probiotics were actually making it past the stomach and into the bowel? It was possible that very little was making it into the bowel. At the end of their appt, Dr P told the mother to go to the pharmacy that day (they were scheduled to return to Canada the following day) and get an enema. Very low doses of cilantro only or you will have a flare of yeast as the intestines try to sequester metals. For his weight I would try 1 drop 3x daily. We had good response with 3 drops 3x daily (DD13 is now over 100 lbs). Increasing the dosage didn't improve response, and only aggravated yeast. You will need a binder of some kind to bind metals dumped into the gut. We use 1/2 tbsp. 2x daily of DE, others use bentonite, pascalite, zeolite, chlorella.

For DD, motor ticcing is a direct result of toxin build-up. Bartonella endotoxins were the cause of her major motor/vocal ticcing symptoms, and treatment for her bartonella infection eventually reduced all vocal ticcing and most motor ticcing from an estimated level 7 (at that point unable to present oral assignments in class because of head jerking, eye rolling and vocals) to an estimated level 2 (some single tics which included shoulder shrugging or mouth stretching) which didn't really impact overall function but were still obvious. Other ticcing flares have been caused by exposure to mold and also by yeast overgrowth/infection. Mind you there were some serious ticcing flares caused by endotoxin release from bartonella antibiotic treatment. But by decreasing abx dosage, or in the case of tindamax, going to a pulsed schedule which allowed for more detox, (and of course increasing detox protocols) we were able to reduce the negative impacts of treatment. So when we weaned abx treatment for bartonella and initiated herbs she was at 80% improvement. She held this improvement on Buhner's protocol for bartonella for 8 months and we didn't realize further improvements until I started using herbs from the babesia protocol. Initially starting babesia protocols resulted in a babesia herx and then clinical diagnosis of babesiosis by our LLMD although all testing for the babesias had been negative. DD was now at 95% with huge gains in cognitive/executive function, resolution of remaining bartonella pain symptoms and decline in ticcing to a level 2. There was still the odd motor tic during the day (although friends wouldn't notice) and some residual headache. I had remediated our home for EMFs before this point. Wireless off unless downloading, removal of wireless phones, circuits to bedrooms off at night, cell phones off in vehicles (the metal structure acts as a Faraday cage). Which made us all more comfortable at home, but DD was still showing sensitivity to EMFs in public areas. In malls, libraries, museums, she would still react with increased ticcing, headache and bone pain symptoms. I, myself, would react with palpitations and anxiety. At this point Julie McIntyre (Buhner's associate) recommended further metal detox with cilantro/zeolite. Because I wasn't comfortable with the amounts of aluminum contained in zeolite I opted to substitute diatomaceous earth (DE) in the protocol. Within 1 day of initiating the cilantro/DE protocol (3 drops organic cilantro tincture 3x daily, 1/2 tbsp. DE 2x daily), all of DD's remaining symptoms declined to zero. Within 3 weeks of initiating the protocol, all electrosensitivity in areas outside the home had resolved. So to recap; I feel treatment and resolution of DD's bartonella infection was a crucial part of resolving her propensity toward motor/vocal ticcing. The cilantro/DE protocol cleared remaining symptoms of ticcing/EMF sensitivity.

If your DS has cradle cap that is a fungal overgrowth. I was actually able to get rid of DD's with ACV messaged into the hair after hair washing. Fungi/yeast do not do well in an acidic environment. That's why you are cleaning the mold under the sink with vinegar. Keep treating with dilute ACV until the cradle cap resolves. Do not rinse. I mix in a spray bottle and just squirt a little on her hair after her bath. It stinks for a couple of minutes, but the smell does go away. Detoxing can increase symptoms as well. DD13 has experienced this with a Western Herbal detox formula prescribed by our naturopath, although her herx was completely emotional (no ticcing involved this time). If the antimicrobial portion of your detox remedy is killing whatever bacteria is causing the ticcing, more ticcing will result. Your detox formula needs to be decreased to a point where you are no longer getting the reaction. We had very good luck adding organic cilantro tincture (3 drops 3x daily and NO MORE). That along with DE (1/2 tbsp. 2x daily) has resolved DD's electrosensitivity issues (and mine as well) and decreased other remaining symptoms (low grade headaches and level 1/10 ticcing) to zero. Higher doses of cilantro will cause yeast overgrowth in the gut as the body tries to sequester metals released into circulation (and thus into the gut) to stop them from being reabsorbed, and may exacerbate your yeast problem.

All you can do is be there as a support for your sister. My sister and her husband have chosen not to have children, but I know that if they had, I would most probably be in your position now. My sister is so physically and behaviourally similar to my DD13, I know they share many genetic tendencies. You have been through this and will know more than your sister's doctors about PANS and undiagnosed infections. But the paradigm change from mainstream medical ideas on psychiatric illness to one that is infection/antibody based is not an easy one. We have all been well indoctrinated. It is hard right now for your sister to buck the system; the shift was hard for me and had a detrimental effect on my marriage for several years. It's not one that is taken lightly. Your sister needs to make her own decisions on testing/treatment, but will turn to you and the knowledge you have gained if her choices lead to a dead end. It is one thing to try and find healing for yourself and completely another to search for healing for your child. She will not give up and you will be there when she needs you. Don't push

Nice mayzoo. DD made it through a fall flu that was going around when children in our area were being affected by EV-D68. Not sure what it was but she actually developed a nice fever for a day. She was tired and slept a fair bit, but was fine by the next day. She had no symptom flare either during the fever or after. I take this as another indication that her immune system is finally working more normally.

Fever is the body's response to infection. It is one of the ways the body decreases bacterial/viral loads. Many of the children here seem to have poor fever response.

Yes, I have the first version. In that version Buhner highly recommends garlic and some of the other more common western herbs (ginger, turmeric etc). The second version explores more of the less-common, but which Buhner feels to be more effective for the emerging resistant infections, eastern herbs like houttuynia, sida, cryptolepis etc.

We observed this reaction to fever, but not necessarily to a cold. DD13 also reacted to fever with a decrease in Asperger's and Tourette's symptoms as well as a decrease in the physical pain caused by bartonella (especially shin pain and headache). I remember one day when she stayed home from school with a fever (she rarely has fevers), she was feeling so good that we went for a bike ride. She said she noticed a significant decrease in pain and that her ticcing that day was minimal. My thought is that perhaps, just for the time that the fever is being produced, the immune system is acting in a more normal fashion. Just get ready for a flare of behaviour/symptoms after the fever has resolved - fever will cause a die-off (herx) reaction as bacteria are lysed and endo/exotoxins are released.

Rifampin was used by our LLMD to treat DD's bartonella infection. It must always be used with another antibiotic, as resistance to rifampin monotherapy can happen quickly. DD was prescribed rifampin in combination with baixin and then plaquinel, azith, tindamax etc. for a period of approx. 1 year. We did see improvement in cognitive ability, executive function and sensory processing disorder (so her main ASD symptoms) with bartonella treatment, although DD didn't progress to 99% (especially in the executive function category) until we treated babesia/protozoa as well.

I'm also glad to hear that your son is walking again. Correlation of severe leg pain with babesia treatment and resolution of pain with treatment withdrawal is an indication of a herx response in my opinion. Because of the severity of the response I would also hazard a guess that his bacterial loads are very high and further treatment needs to be done with careful consideration of that fact.
