  1. Notice these say "reported."
  2. My son did 'Virtual Academy' which is an on-line private school, but in some states they have a free 'state-school' available as well. It allowed for the flexibility needed during treatment. It may just start at 1st grade - not sure.
  3. We live in WA but not sure where son may have been bitten or if congenital since we have been to Yellowstone and other states. It is my opinion that probably most have lyme it just gets re-activated when there are other stresses/chronic health issues. How could we not since the tic is so small that you would not notice it, and you can get it congenitally? Another example is the virus my son was battling, most kids have by the age of '2' but it only becomes activated when there are other health problems. Just my opinion. Before the beginning of the lyme journey, I spoke with a lyme organization in Portland, OR, and they said that there is a pandemic in the PNW. Also, my friend found a pet bunny on the side of the road and brought it by our house to look at it. My DH had to remove a tic on its' side. Because of the politics surrounding 'lyme disease' (including pharma/insurance) most dr. in this area probably do not put it down as a diagnostic code, is my guess, so the stat #'s are pretty minimal which is why no one thinks lyme is in this area so I agree with you on the reporting. I often wonder how many on permanent disability have it as well. Although, there is usually many health issues going on, in addition to the lyme, so treatment can be multi-faceted. Sorry, but over 2 yrs. of research has helped form some of these opinions.
  4. You may want to ask about omega's next visit. Sounds like you have a good start!
  5. My son has been seeing a Naturopthic doctor and has taken any of the following (that have not previously been mentioned): -Detox Deodorant by Herbalix Restoratives (on his feet right before bed - if well tolerated then neck and underarms). -Sockeye Salmon Oil from Vital Choice (3 gel caps before each meal - can be opened and put in food/drink). -Chlorella Manna by HealthForce Super Foods (son started at 20 tabs with/salmon oil 3xday - but you could start at a lower dosage -also powdered form of this). Salmon oil and chlorella have been great for both son and dh. Son is still taking but dh had to stop because cholestrol too low. -Immunocidin "Detox & Immune -specific lymphatic support" by Premier Research Lab (liquid - not sure if available with/out dr. orders) (my sons lymph #'s have been high the entire illness) Too bad your doctor is not on board with this part of treatment as detox can make the journey a bit easier on the child and provide nutrients that could also be useful for long term health. Your a great mom to be checking into this!
  6. Ds has been on thyroid meds for over a year now. He is tested every 3 months and numbers are looking much better. Not sure how long he will have to be on meds. Have read somewhere recently that 70-80% of people with lyme have thyroid issues so good you are checking it out. He is also on Desmopressin another harmone-related med. Before dr. put him on this med she asked him if he had to pee a lot. He did not but still on this as well. Besides abx these are the only meds he is taking. The rest is detox and D3.
  7. My ds is taking MILA (google it to find out its' amazing qualities). It is a chia seed but has much more nutrients and no mold/fungus like others. He likes it in juice. I started taking it and feel great. Makes me feel young again. Not a patient of ND yet but told her about headaches and she recommended MILA. Contains many vitamins and omegas.
  8. I wonder if that is why he was taking'Matrix minerals' at the time. Son is no longer doing either. This dr. uses muscle testing to determine toxin levels.
  9. Interesting info. Ds takes salmon oil and MILA which both have omegas. Taking MILA (chia seed) makes me feel young again (no achiness). Expensive tho at $60 lb.!
  10. Tpotter- we have not dealt with a/c before but others on this forum have so hopefully they will give their experiences. We are currently looking into the possibility of adding a dehumidifier to our heating system since our basement seems to be above 60% humidity quite frequently. Vinegar is a good mold killer if that helps.
  11. Ds is doing salmon oil/chlorella for detox. Supposed to have multiple benefits in addition to great detox. My son does 3000 mg of salmon oil (VitalChoice) and 20 chlorella 15 min before each meal. Quite a lot. When toxin levels were showing higher levels chlorella was increased to 25 tabs before meals. For heavy metal detox we added on detoxamin suppositories at night once a week (depends on level of toxins versus times per week).
  12. Sorry, do not have a lot to add except my son had really bad stomach aches at the beginning and would not eat much at all. It was really scary seeing him so thin. His Dr. had him have some liquid, protein drinks that you buy off the shelf. Cannot remember the names of them.
  13. My son took Alinia twice during his treatment and as far as we know he only had lyme/babesia. 'Alinia also treats parasites and other things' per our doctor so is a good muli-tasking abx. Have heard of others taking it for bartonella too. Others might have suggestions for your son's foot/leg pain. Poor guy!
  14. This video is Dr. Shoemaker on the subject: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/07/22/mold-and-other-chronic-diseases.aspx This one is posted on the New Hampshire government page: This one has more info. than I thought. http://www.nh.gov/disability/mold.htm
  15. Red- good explanation. Remediation should be done correctly so you do not cross-contaminate other areas. Also, we did not want to leave the mold in our home so that any others owners might get ill. Tpotter-Just finding mold and getting rid of it could be a step towards better health for everyone living in the house so good that you are addressing it now.
  16. This would be great under "New Topic". Thanks for sharing.
  17. pm'd you - look in top right corner and there should be a number you can click on.
  18. Figured - just a simple thing to try...
  19. My son's stomache was really bad at the start of his treatment. Dr. said that charcoal was hard on the stomach so did not prescribe it to him. Also know that clay can slow down bowels for some. "I have my mommy intuition always going back to thinking he has lyme in the gut resulting in lyme gut palsy. Just my own theory DAN doc, and LLMD do not give much credence to my theory." Listen to your intuition, you could be right. Our dr. believes that lyme can be anywhere in the body. Seems like I heard they are attracted to fat and scar tissue. My son has gone thru 3 rounds of different treatments for parasites in the last 20 months. I have figured out that when he starts biting finger nails it is time for another treatment. Without me even saying anything, the dr. picks up on it and prescribes another different treatment! Dr. also listens to 'mothers intuition' as she feels strongly about it being an important part of the treatment. Best wishes.
  20. My son's doc. said no cortisone creams etc. if he has lung problems. He uses UNDA 270 Ointment/Pommade (homeopathic cream) for rashes. Interestingly, ds's lymph #'s have been constantly high throughout his treatment. Dr. said "systemic toxicity." So have been detoxing for 20 months now so far! Chlorella/salmon oil is his current detox protocol. Has used clay, detox deoderant, epsom salt baths, detoxamine suppositories, to name a few. Just an FYI, yesterday I had heal pain and was able to get rid of it by massaging behind my ankles.
  21. You might look at some of the engineered hardwoods to see what they have to offer. With tiles, you just have to make sure the grout is always in good condition. We found mold growing behind tiles that had very small openings in the grout. These were right behind the sink and shower so had constant water on them. We put tile on our floor in the bathroom, along with a plastic strip against the tub, and try to keep the floor dry at all times (yea right with my son?). We think that it will work well as flooring. Would not go back to having it in the shower or directly attached to the sink area.
  22. You can see under my post "First Visit to Lyme Doctor (ND)" that we started biofilm busting immediately when starting treatment. Good question!
  23. Sorry to hear about your ear pain. Thought you might be able to use our 'out of the ordinary' story. My son recently had green stuff coming out of his ear. Dr. said it was an inner ear infection. Tried a z-pac then amox. with some healing but not all the way, and then the other ear started bothering him. Dr. then decided that it was either staph or lyme in there and now he is on Rifampin for a few months (they believe parasites/bacteria etc. are drawn to certain areas on the body especially scar tissue). He seems to be doing fine now. Hot drinks helped along with tylenol/ibu. Dr. said not to put q-tips in ears at all, so just used them on the outer edges to get stuff draining out. She also said that the normal wax in your ear actually has anti-bacterial properties so removing it is not a good idea... Also, if allergies are high, you may want to check for mold in your home. Just our Personal experience. Good luck!
  24. Have you read about cistus incantus (rock rose) tea? This worked great for my son and another on the lyme forum. Son was on it for several months. Was just taken off if it. I believe BioPure carries it. Had to drink 2 cups a day. Best wishes on healing.
  25. Thought this might be helpful for those just starting on this journey or wanting to know more about what an ND (naturopathic doctor) does (I did not know at the start of this either.) My son had flu-like symptoms that never went away, stomach aches-to put it mildly, headaches, muscle aches, fatigue, constant cough, some OCD/anxiety. Visit #1: Labs: KPU Test; hair analysis [Dr. Data]; Blood draw (Thyroid panel-TSH free T3, free T4, Vit. D 1, 25, and 25-OH; CD-57. [All paid for by insurance] Treating GI inflammation: Ketotifen; Flora Stor; Beta Glucan probiotic; Melatonin (heals GI); Lactoferrin. Lung healing: TriQuench (iodine) in nebulizer with water (still doing this 19 months later with liquid garlic thrown in for continued health) Lyme/bio-film treatment: Rock Rose (Cistus) tea Nutrient Support: Vit. K2; selenium; CORE (minerals); Vit. D drops This was all done just with muscle testing. So on the first visit treatment was started on several things at once. This was adjusted every month depending on what his body tested as needing. Follow-up blood test etc. have been done along the way to confirm diagnosis and treatment. Just our experience.
