What does the therapy involve? Crazy but DH thinks I am insane with all the things I bring up even though he has the same issues. He thinks I am insane with all my beliefs. Has anyone had a DH who thinks you are going to deep? I feel like everything I talk to him about just makes him mad. I know he hates to hear it but who am I supposed to talk to? Very frustrating? He acts like nothing is wrong and I am just finding crap to annoy him. He is very hard to talk to. How do others deal with this?

I guess this would go along with it. When ds was 7 during all the crazyness he didn't like tags and would not wear jeans. He had gotten so much better with that but then dd started and will not wear jeans. She just turned 7 and has not worn jeans in over a year ( thank goodness for leggings and skirts). Weird thing when I tell ds that he wouldn't wear jeans he can't remember. I do b/c bought him several pairs that were barely used. he wears them now without a problem but questions his sister like she is crazy. DH is the same way. I have always noticed that things bother him. Do you really think therapy would make a big difference? Like I mentioned ds has gotten better with clothes but still spins once on awhile.

This is one thing I always wondered about. It always caught my attention. Ds used to do this at three or four. I then noticed dd would do it around the same age. I would tell them to stop b/c I knew they would fall to the floor from being dizzy. They would always say that it feels good. Ds who will be ten next month will do this once in a while still. When dd sees it she will do it. Has anyone seen this behavior?

I am sorry fit the duplicate replays. I am on a iPod and keep hitting send b/c it does not seem to go through . Well I guess it does so my apology!!!!

Thanks for the reply. Good to hear he is not the only one with silly fears as a child. Always wondered is that was a sigh of pandas. So let me throw this out. Over Christmas older cousins told stories about scary teddy bears and bozo. That the bears come and follow you and kill. So both dd and ds were scarred for several months about stuffed animals attacking . I would have to go upstairs when they got into pajamas and brushing teeth. Though they went to sleep on their own fine. But hence the constant fear. ds who will be 10 next month would bring his bear down (passed down from his dad) so he would not attack him. They believed that their stuffed animals and dolls were going to attack. Though when I mention how silly they are being they understand but still fear. Maybe it is just child silliness. I guess I am critiquing every move.

Quick question. What I notice with ds is that any time of stress makes him tic. For example the neighbor and I are talking about something bad that happened that we seen in the news and ds hears us and his tics come out for that minute. He is very curious, he listens in to adult conversations all the time. Everyone we talk to on the block says that his ears are always wide open. He wants to know everything. But then he will worry about it. Stress and tics are a problem here. Is this something common in ts and pandas.

I know this might sound silly but please hear me out. My ds cousin was Freddy crouger (spelling ? ) one Halloween. Ds got so scared that it took several years of closing his closet door so he would not get him . He was about 4 or 5 at the time. A child should not be terrified for that long. Everyone though it was funny that he was still afraid. But now this stands out. He was afraid for for several years. Could this be a sight of pandas?

Thanks for the research. The doctor that was on dr oz said to limit it as much as you can especially in children. We limit rice milk by switching to almond. No more rice crispy treats from trader joes! I am just trying to eliminate as much as I can. We do stick with the tortillas b/c otherwise they would never be able to have any type of sandwich. Interesting about the chickens. We do buy organic so we should be ok with that. There is no apple juice in our house and it's been like that for years. We will keep trying and Thats all you could do.

We did take ds to an ENT several years back when his congestion was real bad. I was concerned about that also. They checked his throat and nose. Sucked up his congestion with this instrument through his nose and said everything looks good. Ds walked out saying wow I can breath through my nose! of course within a day or not sooner he was stuffed up ( this was before his diet). Now who would you ask for these tests? I really dislike our ped, I need to switch b/c I know they would think I'm crazy!

What type of pandas reactions are you seeing. Dd seems to get more hyper over the summer when she is swimming in our pool.

I just posted about my dd with the leg pains. It turns out she is double jointed ( hyper mobility syndrome). She had the exact symptoms every lists above. And that is the cause of her being double jointed. I just wanted to throw that in just in case.
-
Forget to put this in but the way she stands and walks with her feet to the side made me wonder about pandas but this can also be a sigh of being double jointed. I will never fully understand what I am dealing with

This is crazy and don't know if I should be writing somewhere else. But along with all I wrote the other day let me throw this in. This morning dd wanted to show me something . And what she does is put both her arms behind her back holding a vest 6 inches apart from her hands and literally brings both arms over her head to her stomach. I freaked!!!! Yes there were different sighs that she might be double jointed but this scarred me!! Anyway she would complain of leg pain over the years. She would cry bad throughout the night and complain throughout the day. Doctor would say growing pains. I took put her on gluten free and things got better. Now that I look up hyper mobility syndrome I see why she complains of pain in her joints. My point is I thought for a while that it could be strep related. But it is not. Now I have something else to worry about. Just for other parents out there with children and joint pain something to think about. It also says that it causes clumsiness, that their co-ordination is poor. Their sense of things around them is impaired. This is ds to a t.

Thanks for the reply. In regards to the sniffling she had now what is strange is that she has no congestion at all. There is no runny nose. When she gets anxious she will do it more and then it will disappear for hours. No I have even mentioned anything to the ped about any of this yet. My kids know children with autism, ADHD, and as perfects. I don't want them to be labeled because I feel that it will stress them out and they will get worse. My ds was on antibiotics 23 times by the age of seven b/c of ear infection, respitory issues and strep. I believe he has a leaky gut because of this. He was allergic to everything under the sun. He has been on a diet for 2 1/2 years and taking vitamins and probiotics. He was reacting highly to yeast on his blood work and skin prick which makes me believe that his gut needs healing. For now I cringe at the though of antibiotics in his case. It just so hard to try to made the right decision. I am afraid his current progress would be compromised. So confused.

Here is my story. First let me give you a background of DH. He tics and said they started around 7 when his dad was out of town for months. His mom said she thinks it's because he was really stressed about his dad being gone and when he came back he followed him everywhere. Now his mom has had scarlet fever or ruthmatic. Forget which one when she was younger. She said it was really bad. Anyway DH Also has OCD, add, and is impulsive. Never realized this before but it all makes sense after reading up on it. Also anxiety though he is a dare devil unlike me. I hear that he was also really scared about going outside to throw out the garbage and had to drag along his 2 year old sister. His mom mentioned that he was always upset if his sleeves didn't line up. ( they seem to think that it was cute and I want to throw up). Well his sister does not seem to have any noticeable tics though I believe she has some OCD. His dad bites his nails till their is almost nothing left of them and seems add. That guy jumps from one project to the next. He can't be happy if he is not physically doing something. His mom also has OCD. Am I think anxiety with some of them too. His mom told me that no one has had tics in the family. Now to me, I have had lots of strep as a child and high fevers. My tonsils were real big and recall seeing white stuff on them some times. Don't recall having any noticeable tics. Do recall some mild OCD. Now that I gave a brief history lets get to the kids. Ds was born colicky. He would cry all the time and always needed to be held. He was also constipated. He would get tons of ear infections and I don't recall when he first had strep. We started to notice in the fall he would blink for a couple of weeks. I think he was 3 or 4 when it started. I do recall looking up add at the time but he didn't really meet the criteria so though boys will be boys. I do recall something odd. He would like to spin in circles until he fell or was about to. I would ask him to stop but he said it felt good. By age 7 we had a mess of problems. It was September and he looked miserable. Bags under eyes, pale and no energy. He was real angry and just had a horrible attitude. His OCDand anxiety got real bad. But during this time I lost my job and when I finally talked to him he said he was scared that we would lose our house. His tics were bad also. Got on the ts side and got him tested for allergies. He had a ton of environmental and food allergies. Went on massive diet and tics and attitude got better over time. He has not been sick the past couple of years except got strep! I still wonder if this is ts or pandas we are dealing with. It is driving me crazy not knowing which one it is. Dd has also started sniffling when she was 5 and sick. Ds had strep on Halloween and he must of caught it from dd who tested positive with no symptoms. Got her tested because she was with me. Dd just had strep a month ago which did not show on quick swab but did on culture and this time she had 104 fever for 4 days! Dd has been sniffing more again. Is there a connection. Last time she started sniffling bad she was real congested. But this time there is no congestion. Anyway I assumed I have been dealing with ts these past couple of years but I always wonder. And to add in DH always does the sniffling. I think it is one of the tics he does most often. Any feedback would be great. Thanks for listening if you got this far! Sorry I am a talker.

Thanks for the reply Chemar. I want to thank u and all other parents who have helped two years back. I don't know what I would have done without u guys. This forum has guided me in the right direction with my children. It's a great feeling when you know you are not alone on this journey and there are other sharing their stories and helping.

Haven't been on in a while. Thank you for all your help!! Ds has been doing well with his environmental allergies b/ c of his strict diet with foods. And he has been medicine free for 2 years . He has not been sick with anything but strep once or twice a year. He does still tic but considering that he will be ten next month I stil see them. I don't know b/c he is getting closer to puberty or what. Anyway I still have pandas in the back of my mind. DH tics and has OCD and anxiety . I believe he is add and impulsive. Dh has 1 sister who has no noticeable tics nor do his parents have any noticeable tics. DH mom has had rhythmic fever ( I know I completely misspelled . DH started ticcing at age 7. I had strep throughout my childhood. No tics. I wonder if strep is causing my children's systems. How can DH tic yet no one in his family or extended family tic.

Have you all heard about brown rice having arsenic in it? my kids have been drinking the milk plus the only wraps that they can have have that in it and who knows what else. Seriously why!!! We have switched over to almond milk and have been trying to stay away from other things. Does this include organic items. I watched a dr oz episode were they recommended limiting this in children. Really? First I hear about apple juice and arsenic and now this. Thank goodness my kids no longer drink this. But with them bring on diets b/c of everything else and hearing this I feel like well what do I feed them that won't hurt them. Crazy!

confused mum of a 4 year pld with tics
mar replied to mummyof2's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
I think that u need to look into pandas also. -
Also look into singular. My ped told me to put my son on that for three months b/c of his allergies. We did not go that route b/c of all of the side effects. we went a different route and I am glad we did which is food elimination. I realized that is a steroid also which is not good for tics.

Have not been on here in awhile but did want to mention that my ds has all outdoor allergys and he is doing well with the congestion due to elimating a lot of foods. His congestion has been doing great and he has not taken any allergy meds in the last 2 years. He does still tic and things can get out of hand if his diet changes. He is also allergic and sensitive to a lot of foods. Yes he does tic but his nose is clear which is amazing and that helps out with everything else. He defiantly does not get sick as much. Though the only thing he seems to catch is strep! But the congestion is gone which I am happy about.

Weird but dd suffered through this for a while. She was b/t 2 and 3. Mentioned it to doctor and of course they replied growing pains. There were days that it wasn't as bad but there were nights where she was screaming!!! It came and gone for awhile till she was about 4/5 and it got worse. It spilled over to day time where her brother would be chasing her and she would need a time out because her legs hurt. She would take breaks because of pain. I got her allergy tested b/c of brother and milk and gluten were high. Since she has been off of that her leg pains went away. She will be 7 next month and ony had complains a couple of times due to weather and wheat. I thought I was going to lose my mind before. But this diet has defiantly helped!

I have a question. My son and daughter both have tics. I assume they have ts since my husband tics. I am still looking and reading about pandas. My children do get strep at least twice a year. I always had it when I was a kid but no tics. I am on the ts site a lot but still worry and have pandas in the back of my head. Anyway I just haves question. When my kids get sick with strep or whatever it seems that they are more mellow. When they have a fever and on antibiotics their tics subside. Would this be normal with pandas?

Thank You. So I guess either or will be good. Mar
