  1. Hi. My wife and I are ready to take the next step with my son's treatment. We have been supplementing with minerals, vitamins, and amino acids, restrictive dieting, and using various products to repair his gut. All based upon medical testing and under a neurologists care. He would be doing great and then boom everything hits. I have been researching medical journals and conferences for the past eight months off and on and it seems to be that there is a feeling within the medical community that treats this issue, without heavy prescriptions, is that mercury from vaccination shots is the most likely cause and that the mercury does immediate damage and occasional on-going damage as time goes on. This might explain the boom after the smooth sailing. So basically what I am now looking for is anyone who has had success with DMSA or alphalipoic acid and then DMSA treatments for removing mercury out of the body and if so what doctor did you go to.
  2. Well Spartan, my wife and I are in the boat that you are wondering about. We have our son doing great with supplements and a restrictive diet and then boom, everything falls apart. We have finally both agreed that a more aggressive approach is needed and will be looking for a doctor who will do detoxing. I am going to be making a posting asking if anyone can give any leads if you wish for more details.
  3. As far as I am concerned the New York Times lost their nobility in reporting in the late 1980's. Not objective, just slanted.
  4. I hope by the time you see this post the worst has past. Hope only the best for your son.
  5. "3.5 years seems a bit too young".. My kid started to tic at 2 years of age.
  6. Thanks for the information ladies. Claire, my son was born in 1998 and it gets me very angry when I think that a vacination shot might be responsible for this stuff. Chemar, I will give my son the opportunity for accupunture when he gets older. From what I understand, it is the main treatment in China for this condition. Gina, today I took my son for the skin prick test. I told my wife if it turns out that something in the air here makes our son's condition worse and doesn't exisit elsewhere,, we are moving. We are not moving. He came up negative for local airborne allergies. What I am going to do is get a water filtration system. I have read where the local water changes chemically with the seasons here in SWF. This is all very expensive and for the first time in my life, I wish I made more money in a different field so perhaps I could do more for him. What I can do this week is the epsom baths. Can't hurt.
  7. My son has shown TS or tics since he was 2. He has been on a special diet since he was 4 and has been taken supplements as well. We have had great success in that the mood swings have been gone forever, his sleep patterns have become normalized, and his bowl movements are regular. We have seen a decrease in the tics where they may be there every day but it is at a who cares rate of frequency and severity. However, he just came off a really bad time of it. It lasted two months. After all of the success we were shocked. We are going to take him for an allergy skin test this Monday to test for airborne local allergens as well as more information on food allergies. He already has had the FIA Comprehensive Profile 5000, and the Spectrox Total Antioxidant Function, the Food Anitbody Assessment IGE & IgG, as well as prior individual tests for PANDAS and Gluten. My son has seen three Neurologists, and a host of Family doctors. I just don't think that we have all the bases covered with his treatment. Our current neurologists tells us a metal test will be useless for if he did not come up showing over exposure it wouldn't mean a thing for he might just be oversensitive to what he was exposed to. Yet, since my son did get seriously sick after a vacination shot and was then overly medicated to deal with that illness, I have wondered if it was the vacination shot itself, I wish to do detox. I want the safest detox method out there. I have looked into Blue Green Allergy and found that one of the main sources is overly polluted with Farm's waste water. So now I wonder about Chlorella or any other detox method that might clean up my son of any lingering agent that is damaging his body. I also wonder if I should take him to a doctor that specializes with the digestive system. Since my son is not suppose to eat corn, soy, wheat, gluten products, rice, milk or milk products, cane sugar, etc.... To see if there is another way to test for leaky gut or other damage and treatment of such. I would be most thankful for any information that someone might have to offer. No matter how small it may seem to you, for us it might be the missing piece.
  8. I don't know what to say but being a parent is not easy and being a parent with a child who has a condition, any condition is just harder.
  9. Thanks alot JC for the information and I'm glad to hear about your son.
  10. Hi. I was wondering if anyone has tried Blue Green Algae or Chlorella and if so what was the success rate for detox or decline of rate/frequency of tics. If anyone has had success, I wish to inquire what brand name product did you use and how could I find out about what dosage to use for a six year old boy who weighs 39 pounds.
  11. Hi, I have been a frequent poster in the past. Lately I've have been busy trying to figure out what is going wrong. My son was doing pretty good with his elimination diet and supplements and very limited TV, less then an hr a week. However, his tic freqency has increased drastically over the past two months. I was wondering if there is a test or assessment tool that one can use for salicyalte intolerance. We do not want to just elimated these foods for there is so little that he can eat now.
  12. Hi, many large supermarket chains now have a organic food section that also contains alternative foods. You could find a ton of Rice and Soy drinks that could replace milk. The natural flavored ones are pretty tasty. There are also alot of grains that could be used for cooking and baking. We use millet for example. The good news is most of the products have their own recipes on the label. If you can not find them at your supermarket or at a local health food store, many of them also sell on line. I am sorry but I can not remember any names right now however, page 10 of this forum has alot of postings under something like milk and corn help/recipes.
  13. It usually takes a week after my son has been sick to get the tics back under control and that is with his supplements which includes zinc on a daily basis. The best thing that works with us is sleep and time.
  14. Aluminum can be found everywhere. I have seen some sun tan lotions that contained it and one Shampoo. It is very important to read labels on everything. We use a cast Iron pot ,that my great grandmother used, for alot of our cooking but it is a heavy thing. As for the metal testing, I find them all very interesting and will reread the above stated posts.
  15. I have not researched it yet and I should but I read here and there to avoid to much salt for it will deplete the body of Caliculm. Some frozen foods are overloaded with salt. Just something I read here and there.
  16. "FANTASTIC! We have had a similar experience! I was so helped in so many ways by everyone who took the time to post and share their experiences. I know a parent will come along and your post will mean the world to them and will give them hope!", Ronnas. I must agree with Ronas. This Forum helped me find the light during the darkest moments. My son still has tics but now we know most of the triggers and we are controlling them. Before the tics were in control and were getting more and more severe as well as being non-stop during his waking days. This forum convinced me that the path I wanted to take was the right one and so far it has been a blessing and I thank everyone who has ever posted upon it.
  17. Hi, Evangelia. Sorry about my delay in postings but I started during my lunch time and now I'm finishing after work. Have a new baby at home so the time at home isn't there right not but that is a good problem to have. My oldest son assessments were based upon the IgG blood test. Food was a big problem for a while but things have worked out with it. Of course we take our own food where ever we may go which includes kids parties. It is amazing how much food my son can't eat right now but most of it was not healthy anyway. Processed foods are out, frozen foods are out, cold cuts are out, etc. However, Veggies are in, farm raised meat is in, organic fruit is in and visits to the health store for alternative products have been productive.( Note: My five year old can eat fruit however we stopped giving him grapes for we saw negative results after consumption). We are careful with the juices for alot of products add sugar to their juice. To avoid this we buy not from concentrated or anything with puree added.
  18. Foods that my son currently needs to avoid based upon testing: 1. Cane Sugar, Milk and milk products of any animal, Rice and rice products, Corn and corn products, Grains and any product that contains gluten, Mushrooms, Soy and any soy type product. 2. Made a big difference for the foods did prove to be triggers. 3. Sleep improved, alot less stomach pains, behavior became consistent which is now sweet. 4. Have not retested and it has been slightly over a year. Note: I feel that the straving brain was also a factor for there was even more of a reduction of tics when we added supplements after testing. However, there is still an issue with other triggers that also needed to be addressed.
  19. You 100% right. The general population as a whole does need to be educated on TS and other health matters. We have come along way as a society but we still have a longer way to go. I do not have TS so I have no idea of what you face but I wanted you to know that I care.
  20. Take one day at a time. From my readings, transient tics can come back for a short duration but then they leave forever on their own. I am glad to hear that the tics have for the most part ceased and that your doctor feels that they are transient. Sounds like things are starting to go your family's way:)
  21. Hi Glen. Your son's tics sound alot like my sons. My son started with a brushing of his face as if he was trying to push hair away and then it got only more and more severe until he progressed to what your son is now doing. Actually it got even worse but then we found a plan of treatment. Thank G-d. My son first started to show signs of ticing when he was three and it was after an illness that followed a vacination shot. There is no TS in either my wife's or my bloodlines, however, my son was diagnosed with TS. This does not make the issue any better or any worse but may lead to the path that is needed for correcting the matter as much as possible. My son is now 5 going on six and he still tics. However, the tics are less frequent and less severe. He will tic when overtired, he will tic when coming off another illness especially one with a fever, he will tic when nervous or over excited and he seems to tic during the summer but we are looking for that trigger. Yes there are things that bring on the tics. I think he has a damaged nervous and digestive systems. These systems are now fragile and have to be watched. Hopefully, the damage can be repaired. So far with a restricted diet, vitamin-mineral-and amino acid supplements, and restricted TV/computer use he is doing 95% better then he was before. We had our son tested for food allegies and there were a ton of them. This might be the first step for your family as well. Before three there was none of this so we feel that the problem was induced. This might be true for you if you look back and figure out a time line. Our next step is to test for mercury or other metals that were and are used in vacination or flu shots. If he turns out to have high levels then we will look into detoxing when school is out. (Sometimes I wonder if TS started with the industrial revolution with it's toxic agents). At times my son can go for months without anything to speak of but I am still worried about my son and when it comes back I still have private bouts of anger and sadness when I am alone. As a father you might as well but it is nothing like where you are now. Once you become pro-active and see your son's positive results you will see that this is not a condition that will hurt his life just a condition that is part of his life. my son has alot of friends, he is doing well in school, he just moved up a belt in Karate, and he is a normal kid with an issue like so many other normal kids who have their own different issues. Your son will overcome this with your families help. This is a family matter. Especially when it comes to food in the house. Like Claire, Heather , Gina and others have mentioned get your son tested for food allegies, have him tested to see if his brain is getting enough vitamins, minerals and amino acids, and PANDAS for any lingering infections. Our son did not show any lingering infections but the diet and supplement dosage intake was all based on lab tests, Great Smokies to name one. Good luck and use the people here as a source of information. I did and still do.
  22. My five year old can not eat any type of candy because of his diet restrictions, so we had a family discussion where all the candy that he and his 3 year old brother collect will be bought by my wife and I with money. Small candies a penny, medium size candies a nickle, large candies a dime, whole bar candies a quarter, a bag of candies fifty cents and the unexpected will be a dollar. They seemed hesistant at first then we carried the discussion over to what toys they could buy and how many if they collect...etc. It might end up costing me more then a few bucks but it's more then worth the alternative. As for older kids, I dunno what to say. My father used to tell me and my brothers that halloween was an evil holiday and trick and treating was begging. It worked for him but that was a different time, a different era.
  23. Thanks
  24. There are laws that are meant to protect against job discrimination. It might not always be easy to prove, especially when you out there by yourself but if you apply for a job in the civil service field then you might have access to the government unions for protection under the law and then be gainfully employed. I do not know where you live but you might want to try a local, state, or federal job. In some states, you can start the application process over the computer and there are alot of Federal jobs posted on the computer under different agencies. For example, Department of Labor might be a start on Google search. You might also might want to look at a fortune 500 company that is so large that they have a big need for finding good workers and that is all that they are looking for.
  25. From my understanding there has never been a DNA strand link found to TS. This may suggest that TS is not passed down but the tendency to develop it from outside variables does, (e.g. unknown lingering illness, metals from vaccination shots etc.) This might sound far fetch to some but think about the person who lives in a part of the world where they never drink or eat any milk products, except from b-feeding as a baby, and have no health problems then that person comes to the United States and has a cheese burger with a milkshake only to then find out that they are lactose intolerant. Perhaps TS is a result of exposure? And if TS is a result from exposure to a toxic(s) or virus/ bacteria to the body then is it more of a health impairment then a syndrome and therefore the cause needs to be treated as much as the effect. Which in turn would be another line of logic against medicating with medicines that were not even designed for what is called TS. Just a thought.
