Oh, trust me to get the wrong one Will oxide still work, or do you think it's worth going ahead and getting the picolinate instead? Has anyone else had any experience/does anyone else have any advice?
-
For example, is oxide okay?, because magnesium oxide isn't absorbed very well - is it the same with zinc?

How many here have had increased tics with fish Omegas?
Greyhound replied to ilovedogs's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Argh! I *finally* found a fish oil that wasn't fish *liver* oil and *didn't* have gelatin and then I read this. I'm not getting anywhere. But...then again, almost everything I've tried so far has had the opposite effect everyone else has experienced. -
Thanks for this

I want to try chlorella, but I am worried about prior contamination with mercury, but I have also heard that if contaminated, it won't release it - it will either do nothing or absorb more. How true is this? What 'brand' should I try? And also, is it the same as 'Chinese chlorella'? Along similar lines, what about fish oil? I want to try fish oil that contains sardines and mackerel (the only capsules I can find without gelatin), but I have heard that fish oil can also be contaminated. Any advice is greatly appreciated (and yes, I have already searched the forum, but some posts are old and I'm getting confused, so I'm sorry if these are hugely repeated questions!) Thanks

For one reason or another, I can't get hold of it over here, but I can get hold of brewer's yeast. However, I have heard contradictory information - that it can get rid of candida and that it should not be used in people with candida.
-
Because I can't get hold of any, but I've got hold of something by Solgar from a local shop which should help

Does taurine increase vocal tics?
Greyhound replied to ilovedogs's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
I don't know, but it seemed to (only sometimes) make me feel strong rage-type feelings so I stopped it -
My nails have always been strong as healthy, as has my hair. Also, since taking magnesium, my nails seem to have got a bit stronger.
-
By the way I meant I searched on Google, not Kirkman Labs.
-
I'm still new to using it myself, but it seems to reduce my over-sensitivity to touch very slightly.

Oh crap,I completely forgot about this I bought some Candida Clear and have taken three tablets so far. I have now got a headache and a sore throat - I hope this means that it's working and I hope the side effects will go away before the weekend because I'm meeting from TS friends off another forum for the first time. But...I completely forgot about the S-boulardii Should I stoped taking the Candida Clear until I've got some? I get mine from Kirkman's labs. I can't find it. EDIT: When I search for S-boulardii, it keeps coming up with 'brewer's yeast'. Is this the same thing with a simplified name?

Hard to breathe or the need to take deep breaths?
Greyhound replied to patty's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Interestingly, I read somewhere that it can be one of the symptoms of magnesium deficiency. -
Correct - I'm nineteen. To start with, I tried B complex+B12, inositol, Gingko biloba and St. John's wort. I got a prickly feeling all over and my urine turned bright green - symptoms of too much vitamin B. So stopped those. I also stopped the inositol because it's also a B vitamin. Then I started feeling a bit dizzy, and I thought it might be the Gingko biloba, so I stopped that and sure enough, no more dizziness (I might try it again at some point to make sure it was that and nothing else). That leaves the St. John's wort which seemed to be doing absolutely nothing. I bought dolomite at one point, but thought I probably have enough calcium already, so taking in more calcium with the magnesium is pointless as they'll stay unbalanced. So I took no more of those (plus dolomite can be contaminated with lead). To replace the dolomite, I bought magnesium citrate. This seems to work a tiny, tiny, tiny bit. But I'm still not sure. I can't swallow the tablets whole because they're really big so I chew them with water. This probably means they are broken down too early on or something like that. I also heard that B6 was good, so I bought some of those, but then I noticed that each tablet had 2500% of the RDA along with a note at the bottom saying 'long term intakes of amounts greater than 10mg daily of vitamin B6 may lead to mild tingling and numbness' and I've heard somewhere else that it can cause permanent neurological damage. The last thing I bought was taurine. This seems to work a tiny tiny bit sometimes, but other times it seems to make me really irritable and prone to internal rage. I'm fed up with things have bad effects. Everyone else seems to have either had good results or no results.
-
So far, I've tried combinations of about eight different supplements/herbs etc. and they all seem to either not work or have the opposite effect. I thought I was onto a winner with the taurine, but I haven't taken any supplements at all today and seem better off without them I'm not made of money lol However, I have noticed one odd thing: Before trying any of the supplements, I could not put my palms and fingers symmetrically together (so each part of the hand matches up exactly with the corresponding part on the other) without feeling a sort of strong mental pain. My hands would jerk away because I could hardly bear it. It is even worse with my feet, not that I'd ever need to put my hands or feet symmetrically togther like this of course! Also this is odd because usually, I want things to feel even. Anyway, recently (and unfortunately, I haven't been able to pinpoint which supplement I'd just started) I tried putting my hand together again. I could do it straight away. Although they felt a bit weird, I was able to put them together straight away without doing a bit at a time and concentrating really hard. I have no idea why this is. It's some sort of a result, but an odd one! PS I still can't do it with my feet.
-
Never, and yes it's my first time exploring supplements etc. and I'm so disappointed with the lack of results so far
-
I get mine from Kirkman's labs. Thanks

No, I bought dolomite and then realised that I probably had enough calcium, so taking dolomite would just keep the levels unbalanced. I think I ended up taking just one tablet and I now take the magnesium (citrate) on its own. Thanks for the advice

What TV was reccomended better for tics?
Greyhound replied to myrose's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Thanks -
The candida test I did was positive and I am considering going ahead with Candida Clear, but I am terrified of the possible 'yeast die-off'. Has anyone else experienced the yeast die-off? Apparently, it doesn't mean the treatment is benig successful, only that there are too many toxins all at once. Help?

Where can I get S-boulardii from?

New facial tics? Pool or slacking of the diet?
Greyhound replied to ilovedogs's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
It certainly seems so for me -

I think I use an LCD computer screen (well, it's certainly not CRT) and I still tic a lot during films (no TV - we use the computer for DVDs). -
All I took today was 500mg taurine (no magnesium or anything else) and it had great effects all morning, started wearing off by lunchtime and has worn off at the time of writing this. I wonder if it was the taurine or of it if was just because I'm usually calmer in the morning? Tomorrow, if I remember, I will take on midday and see what happens. I have a feeling I was going to say something else too, but I've forgotten (surprise, surprise! lol)

Thanks, although knowing me, if it makes it worse for others, it'll probably do wonders for me because everything else I've tried seems to either not work or do the opposite of what it does to everyone else
