  1. Hi TrentB, We had a very positive experince in going to an "Environmental Dr." They are trained to use alternative approaches for thses types of issues. Our son has tics and they were moderate to 6 months ago. They are now very mild due to diet restrictions and vitamins and mineral supplements. Probably the biggest help was being on this forum many hours a week and getting information to help our boy. "Knowledge is the principle thing, therefor get knowledge. And with all thy getting, get understanding. " That is one of my favorite verses from the bible. And It certainly pertains to our situation with our boy. I hope this is somewhat helpful. Please keep searching, and I believe you will find the answers for your son. Myself, and most others on this forum have felt the desperation that you are now experiencing and through alot of probing, asking and searching we were able to help our children tremendously! God Bless.
  2. Hi mblack, We started our son on Bontech supplements when he started ticcing in December of 06. Initially the tics got worse for about 1 month than they improved over time. He now tics very minimal. However, we've also seen (and are seeing) an environmental dr. and we did alot of testing - heavy metals, food sensitivities, mineral analysis, urinalysis, and yeast test. We have had a very strict diet for the past 3 months (no artificial anything, no sugars and very little carbs). I would run everything by your dr. - after all thats what we pay them for, and pay them for, and pay them for... (that's my line of thinking) and that's what we have done. Also, what was VERY helpful for me was spending alot of time (about 2-3 hours/day everyday) reading past threads and asking questions. People on here are the best in the world. It's amazing how they offer up their time and support for complete strangers like us. God bless, and please keep seeking, asking and knocking.
  3. Good morning Faith. By the way, I love your name!!! Our focus within our family is getting strong & healthy. In my previous email I stated that our youngest was in a 3 week sick cycle from December through May. Our other son was in a similiar cycle too. (5yrs. & 6yrs. old) Their personalities were not right either - moody, irritable, over-emotional & terribly reactional. When our youngest started the eye tics in Dec.'06, my husband jumped on the internet & started the search for understanding. We discovered, through his extensive research, that nutrion & gut absorbtion is the key to good mental, physical health. He learned so much from Bontech too about how all of this ties in together. That is why is wasn't too difficult for us not to mention the TS & to focus on the gut-absorbtion issues & nutrion. One thing I have learned is that Moms want to know what you are doing when you are doing something they are not & they see how positive your child responds to it. Ahhhhhh....big key factor. Your kiddo has got to be on board the healthy wagon all together & that was one the really stumbed me. God has a wonderful way of ansewering prayers & I prayed fervently for our boys to be on board & He answered that prayer with yet more knowledge on how to be unified in our family. 1st. You have got to believe in what you are doing. No doubt. (This is where your beautiful name kicks in!) 2nd. My husband is on the same program they are on & it is great! They do this together & edify each other as they take their Super Man pills & nasty tasting probiotics. 3rd. Consistency. When they know what to expect, then there is little room for temptation. 4th. Understanding. When the fish you prepared (ha!, this is an example from my kitchen!) tastes bland & terribly non-satisfing, focus on a fun activity after dinner to help them finish. 5th. Smile. You are doing a great thing for your son & for yourself by discplining your cravings & by helping your boy grow healthy & strong. Our Dr. is great. The boys love him & enjoy being around him. He helps the boys understand what we are doing & that makes the boys all the more determined to do what needs to be done. Also, they know that this is not forever. We will be off this diet in the relatively near future (10 mo.'s, maybe) & that the results from this diet ARE SO WORTH IT! Our 5 yr. old thanked his Daddy for helping him get better after our 2nd meeting with our Doctor. That makes it all worth it! Back in January when we were really over-our-heads with attitude issues w/the boys, we came across a wonderful Tae Kwon Do program that really focused on developing character in young children. The instructor taught me a priceless lesson - positively discpline so that you can build character, not tear it down. He did not tell me this - I witnessed it happen right before me & man, was I convicted. Being a very emotional being myself, I realized that my emotional reactions were not helping matters. Lastly, our boys understand what we are doing & do not mind being around others with cup cakes & french fries. They sometimes laugh & say.....ohhhhhh, yummy, but that will be the end of that. The one thing that I have had to correct with my oldest is that he shouldn't preach to the other kids on how they are polluting their bodies. As you can see in my long email, we do not have a problem with expressing ourselves!!! My youngest does what needs to be done & the kids support him - infact, he told me that his teacher was going to give him something he shouldn't have & his friend corrected her & told her that wasn't good for him to eat. We have it out in the open & it has caused a lot of talk, learning & sharing. I do not force what we are doing on anyone - it's just what we are doing & I am more than happy to answer questions concerning it. Love is key in this whole program & you most certainly have that powerful force within you! May God bless & keep you - Pam
  4. Hi Calicat and good morning. What enabled my husband & I to drive home the point was our son's lab results. When I had the 'PROOF' before those who questioned or did not agree, then it was much more difficult for them to resist. In Proverbs God says get wisdom, but with all your getting, get understanding!!!! One of our son's immune level was a 10 & the range should be between 40 & 200. This explained why he was in a sick cycle every 3 weeks! There were so many other things that drove our case home & my husband has done so much research on the affects of preservatives, sugars & unnatural additivites which enabled us to pull the whole issue together so that our son's teachers knew what we trying to achieve with our sons' health. Interestingly, since I brought my kindergartner's lunch to school everyday, it stirred up a lot of conversation with parents & students creating a new awareness to what we are doing with our children's health. A couple of parents have contacted our Dr. to see about their children's health issues as a result. Ultimately, knowledge gives you the ability to communicate what is happening with your child. My husband & I stayed away from discussing his tics & kept the focus on nutrition. Nutrition is somthing everyone can appreciate & understand. One last thing, my husband had to pull me on board which was no easy task. I had a lot of pride & ego to press through because he was the one caring so much & diving into the obvious problems we were facing & I felt like dead weight. Once I was able to get past myself & understand what we were dealing with, I jumped on board. People have fragile egos & that has to be kept in mind when confronting them on issues that require them to change. I hope this was helpful! With kind regards, Pam
  5. The impossible diet!!! Hi bmom, my name is Pam & my husband & 2 boys (6yrs old & 5yrs old) are on this diet except that we can not have ANY sugars or carbs. Breakfast was a real obstacle for me, too, especially since my sons have sensitivities to eggs. Breakfast ideas: Beans! I use navy (northern), kidney, & black beans. I can not use pinto beans or lima beans due to the boys' sensitivities. Sauce: onion (green, yellow, red, valdalia), celery, parley (flat italian or curly), garlic, salt, pepper, cumin, chili powder, fenu greek (I do not use all of these at once - it depends on the meat that I use) & diced tomatoes or sauce or organic tomatoe soup. Meat: left over hen, fish, or organic turkey, beef & chicken hot dogs. High protein & flavorful & not too difficult to put together. Another good thing for dipping veggies in is Hummus. A great place to look for recipes on-line is Recipezaar. You can do searches based on certain ingredients, which is very helpful for breakfast foods - you can search on the type of meal - ie. breakfast & main ingredient. I hope this was helpful. I was on the internet like crazy as our Dr. outlined what we needed to do to get healthy. With kind regards, Pam
  6. Hi Faith. Here we go! 1st. When Wes eats a food that disagrees with him, such as: eggs, milk, wheat, pinto beans, lima beans, he becomes irritable & he takes his frustration out on me as well. 2nd. When we pull back on vitatmins, he becomes irritable & somewhat foggy mentally. Again, when his body is not getting what he needs, the first thing that changes with him is his personality. We no longer deal with rage & I believe that illiminating ALL of the foods that he is sensitive food took care of that problem. That one was terrible. 3rd. Airborn allergies affect him. We are currently taking Heel Homeopathy sinus & allergy pills every three hours. These have helped tremendously. Attention Problems: When we were, about 3 months ago, trying to figure everything out, Wes was having a terrible time focusing in school. He wasn't present & what I mean by that is that he would not respond to his teacher the 2nd or 3rd time she would address him. He had a terrible time following directions. As we had him tested & began the rotation diet & then the candida diet, his focus level & attention level blossomed. Also, before we started the diet & elimination program, Bontech vitamins helped out in this area as well; however, when the allergy season hit or he had a cold, the vitamins were unable to keep him balanced. All in all, figuring out his body's needs & then meeting them has enabled his remarkable come-back. He is comfortable in social situations, he handles conflict so much better & he will sit & occupy himself at his desk. Re. the 93% - it is so obvious! His facial tics are the primary ones we are dealing with & they seem to be associated with his nose running a little bit due to allergies. Bontech - he takes 11 vitamins & 3 fish oil. The oil helps him relax relieving us of hyperness. We haven't seen a clear result with the enzymes & I am not sure exactly what we have given him - my husband is in charge of that area. I hope this was helpful! Take care Faith - Pam
  7. Hi Carolyn, I really don't know what gamma strep is, my environmental dr said maybe it will correct itself with everything else we are doing. Again, i don't know if this indicates he has strep stuff in his system - i know great termonology, right I'll keep you posted with any new info on it.
  8. Hi bnichola, The same thing happened for my son (tics increased alot!! for about 3 weeks) than he settled and was about 90% less ticcing. He is doing pretty well today - 6 months later. But his allergies have caused some increase. Allergies are horrible this year!!! If i were you i think i would continue for atleast a few more weeks.
  9. Thanks so much Kim, You, and so many others on here are truely wonderful people. Me and my wife are VERY grateful and look forward to when we get our son consistantly better so that we have more time to offer advice and help to so many people that need it. I thank you for offering more info but i want to wait till we get our son settled first - quite time consuming. We'll keep you posted.
  10. Kim, I took the full amout - 20 from the start. And continued for a few months.
  11. There has been 7 - 10 days ver the past 20 yrs that i have been able to go thru the day nearly tic free - meaning i ticced 5 - 10 times instead of 4 or 5,000 times. The first time this happened is when i was 23. I remmember well. I woke up around 9:00 am, went out and sat on my chair to do some reading (college cramming!) and the thought came to me "i'm not going to tic". Now i thought this many, many times in my life before - in fact pretty much every day. So i don't know exactly what was different about thbis day. I do knopw that as i kept this thought with me and in particular as the minutes passsed by i felt more and more empowered. When 10 minutes past, i knew this was very abnormal for me to noe have ticced. 30 minuted past - AMAZING!! 1 hour and so on thru the day. The urge to tic was stongest the first few minutes and dissipated emensly after an hour or two. As i said this happened maybe 7 - 10 times over the last 20 yrs. Another time was when i took bontech supd a couple yrs ago. First day tics were down 98%, second day down 90%, third day 80%, And it just kept dwindling to nothing. Maybe just the placebo effect?? Either way, uite disappointing and at the same time it gave me some hope. I do not believe that these little breaks are "waning" days. I think there is something more to it. I'm just not sure what it is??
  12. Hey Lenny, Well, kind of good news i guess... atleast now you will be able to take some possitive action which should help to lessen tics even more - you had said tics were down to a minimum for a while now. Have you had him tested for yeast? That seems to also be an issue with both of my kids and me.
  13. Thank you both, i will look into both of these.
  14. Thanks Chemar, I did check out Bach's remedy online this morning before i posted. I remmember you mentionimg it before - about a month ago on a post. The description said it was for stress relief. Do you find that it also provides allergy relief? Thanks.
  15. Does anyone know of a natural (no drug, no artificial anything etc....) remedy for airborne allergies? We've been using something natural (don't know the name) that seemed to work for a week or two, but our son's have been very stuffy and watering eyes for the past couple weeks. Since there are still a couple weeks of allergy season left i would like to try something else. Thanks.
  16. Hi Kim, Thanks so much for all of the valuable info. You, along with many others on here are truely wonderful people. And i don't think it can be said enough. You freely volunteer your time, efforts and energy to help others - A sincere THANK YOU. I have read the info and it corelates to the path we are on.... that is strengthening his immune. hopefully when he gets to be 8, 9 and 10 yrs old he will have a very strong system with minimum to no tics. Thanks again.
  17. Yes he did. Our son's siga (the immune system's first line of defense) is at "10" normal is between 40 and 204. So really, we have to work on getting his immune built up.
  18. Hi Kim, I spoke with the Dr. yesterday and he said there is no concern with this because we are currently doing alot to strengthen his immune system, and so his body will naturally fight off illnesses much better. Bottom line - it's not a concern at this point. I will keep you posted if anything else turns up.
  19. WE recieved "Bacteriology Culture" (stool analysis) test results for our son which shows Beneficial Flora, Imbalances, and Dysbiotic Flora. Under the Imbalances it shows "Gamma Strep 4+". Does anyone know what this means? There are sooo many things we are sorting through with all of the test results. We currently have a good plan together that seems to be working. This is just something that caught my eye since i've been doing alot of reading about Pandas on this forum. Just wondering if this might relate to that in any way - or if it has anything to do with strep throat at all??
  20. I have TS , my son too, I know tv does trigger it but i believe it is just sitting there that does it. Things like reading, classroom, sitting still for a seminar, ect... all cause the tics to increase. TS is such a weird thing (i actually laughed at myself many times over the years because of how goofy this thing can be) because it comes and goes often times for no apparent reason. However as i learned from Sheila's book, and this wonderful forum (thank God) is that there is always an identifiable reason for the tics, it's just a matter of doing some detective work and finding the source. I'm sorry i can't be of more help with the movie ticcing. However i can tell you that my son started with intense eye blinking in December 06 and after 1 month on Bontech sups they stopped and havn't returned. There are some nose tics now, which we think are related to his springtime allergies. We are currently on the food elimination diet, candidas diet, amino acid supplementation and probiotics all of which i think are helping to stregthen his heavily compromised immune system.
  21. Hi Kim. Our son's blood test revealed that he has an above normal count of ammonia. Our Dr. has given us a rotation diet, based on our son's test results & compiled by Doctor's Data Inc. The diet specifies the amount of fiber, protein, carbs, spices, omega's & fruit. His results are wonderful. We have started an organic liquid vitamin, Natural Calm, EM, Extra & Calcium. He is responding to the food change amazingly well & his personality IS ALIVE!!!!! His ticks are moderate & the intensity of them is down. He just caught a cold & he is doing very well considering this extra burden on his body. Food is huge with TS. Having a balanced diet - staying away from food sensitivities & supplimenting seems to work wonders. We have not started the amino acid compound yet, so, we do not have anything to report concerning that. Thank you Kim, Irena & Faith for responding & for the information you provided. We really appreciate it! With kind regards, Pam
  22. Magnesium Taurate is supposedly one of the most absorbable forms of magnesium. We've used it with the "Bontech" sups (that is, it is already in the sups) and have had good success.
  23. Our son got his test results for amino acids and he is low on several of them. The Environmental Dr. and the lab recommend he takes a comprehensive formula of: Tryptophan Arginine Histidine Isoleucine Leucine Lysine Methionine Pheylalanine Threonine Valine Pyridoxal-5-phosphate Alpha-ketoglutarate His Taurine is off the charts at 16,300. The norm is between 200 and 1000. So we were told to stop Bontech supps. Not sure that's such a great idea. But we will cut dosage in half and see what happens. I read on several posts to watch out for the amino acids as they can increase tics. However, if he is pretty unbalanced, it seems difficult to tell the Dr. that you don't want to take them. I think we have a good Dr (a pioneer in the field of environmental medicine - been doing it for 30 yrs. and 10 yrs. traditional Dr. prior to that) and he really does want to balance our child and strengthen him. ?? However, I am quite unsure about the amino's, especially because our son has been doing so well for the past week.
  24. Hi C.P., Thanks for the earlier response. I notice the kids calm has no calcium, shouldn't it have calcium (the 2:1 ratio) to magnesium? Do you supplement the calcium seperately or do you not worry about it?
  25. Hi Nadine, We have used "Bontech" vitamins for 4 months with some pretty good success. The website for these vits is http://www.bonniegr.com . We also took our son to an environmental Dr. to get blood test for food sensitivities, stool test for candida and immune function, urinalysis for amino acids and hair analysis for mineral levels. We got the results yesterday and found out there are some inbalances in his system. I believe as we work on restoring him to balnce he will tic even less. Also, I have had TS since age 11, i'm now 42. I too just had all of the testing done on myself and am awaiting results.
