  1. I will try a test too: http://www.latitudes.org <----- Link here
  2. I have been able to post links straight into the reply box until very recently. Today when I tried, I put them in as usual, and hit post. All the data for the links was removed, and only my text explaining what the links were remained (in trinitybella's homeschool thread). When I went back and used the hyperlink button, they posted fine. I use Mozilla Firefox, and have been using it since before I joined here.
  3. I use a spell checking add-on for my firefox and it still works great.
  4. It appears you can no longer paste a link directly into a topic box; however, you can put a link in the topic box by using the "hyperlink" button. It looks like a link in a chain with a plus sign. It is two to the left of the add an image link which is almost directly below the smiley face. I use firefox btw, and used to be able to post links directly into the reply box. Now, I just use the hyperlink box.
  5. I would not think a lawyer would be needed, but that is just my opinion. My kiddo has always been home schooled, so I have never had to deal with the school district. Here are some resources for NJ: http://www.state.nj.us/education/genfo/faq/faq_homeschool.htm Has the laws for your state, and other cases that have set precedence. http://school.familyeducation.com/home-schooling/new-jersey/41094.html Has a home school web address from geocities. http://www.homeeddirectory.com/homeschooling-support-groups/new-jersey Support groups and co-ops.
  6. I would think the risks associated with undergoing general anesthesia twice would out way any benefits leaving the adenoids in, but I have not done the research. Our ENT never even considered leaving the adenoids as far I can tell.
  7. We use Jarrow brand as well and have used it for at least a year. Additionally, for gut protection we also use two Sun Down Inulin prebiotics, one Healthy Origins probiotic, Bio-enhanced curcumin (like Enhansa) twice a day, and home made milk kefir.
  8. The probiotic should be given 2 hours away from the zithromax or it may not be effective (abx killing beneficial bacteria of probiotic). Symptoms can go up with successful treatment if you are having die off and she is having issues detoxing the die off. Charcoal two hours away from other meds, milk thistle, lemon water, etc can all be good ways of reducing symptoms if they are related to detox problems.
  9. Many on the autism board I am on tout the benefits of Vayarin. We have not tried it yet. http://vayarin.com/what_is_vayarin/
  10. HPV vaccine was "mandatory" in my state until a few very serious side effects occurred (from death to paralysis to autoimmune disorders to very minor reactions). My state recanted the mandate within a year I believe most likely because they could not afford to be listed as defendants in the ensuing lawsuits. Here is a google search for HPV vaccine risks, and the one from web md seems well balanced in its pros and cons at a glance: https://www.google.com/#q=hpv+vaccine+risks Personally, my kiddo will not be getting it mainly because her immune system is a mess still from vaccines she received up to the age of one (eleven years ago ). Her immuno has stated no more vaccines for now since her titers are all very high and she is being medicated to lower some of them.
  11. Charcol caps at least two hours away from any other meds works okay here.
  12. I tried to send you a pm, but it did not go through. Is your box full?
  13. My kiddo is 70lbs and is on Augmentin XR 1000mg twice a day, and zithromax 375mg once a day (zithromax is usually a once a day dose) for her prophylaxis. Both augmentin and biaxin are usually given twice a day in order to reach an effective blood plasma level. We use Healthy Origins Probiotic, Sundown Inulin prebiotics, Jarrow Sacc B, Bio-enhanced curcumin, and home made milk kefir to help with gut issues. Almost all of my kiddos behavioural issues are OCD, anxiety and fear related . Yes, my level of patience is a HUGE challenge. To help boost your patience, keep telling yourself he did not ask for this, and if he is like my kiddo, he would give almost anything for ALL this to go away. Then tell yourself you are doing your absolute best for him, and try to give yourself a break when you do lose it.
  14. We use elemental magnesium glycinate. I read in an article that it is one of the better absorbed. It depends on why you are taking it as to which kind to take: "Magnesium glycinate is a chelated form of magnesium that tends to provide the highest levels of absorption and bioavailability and is typically considered ideal for those who are trying to correct a deficiency" http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/12/17/magnesium-benefits.aspx http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Heart-Rhythm/Magnesium-supplements----to-avoid---how-to-take-it-and--safety/show/1002415
  15. So far, my kiddo is on augmentin, zithromax, and magnesium for about 6 months. She has been on mag and zithromax for over a year. So far, she has had no stomach issues (pain or yeast), but we also use curcumin, pre-biotics, probiotics, milk kefir and sacc B to make sure her gut track is maintained. Magnesium interferes with some abx. Augmentin and Biaxin are not on the list of meds it interferes with. You can use www.drugs.com to check interactions or ask your pharmacist. Drugs.com allows you put in the names of drugs you are concerned about, and then it will look for interactions (www.drugs.com/drug-interactions) Here is the complete list of drugs known to interact with Magnesium (severe, moderate and mild): http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/magnesium-oxide-index.html#B
  16. My best advice: Download the forms for reimbursement directly from the insurance website. Make sure you follow the directions to the letter. Double check the ICD-9 found on your doctor's receipt to make sure it is a covered condition BEFORE you ever mail it in. You may have to call your insurance for this one. If the condition they listed is not covered, talk to the office about changing the ICD-9 to a covered one. Keep copies of everything you mail in with detailed notes on it of who you spoke to, and what the date/time was. If three weeks go by after you mail it in and you have not heard from your insurance company, try to make the time to call them (and keep notes again on your copy of the bill you mailed in). Continue calling every now and then to check on the progress. Good luck .
  17. Sorry you are having issue both at home and outside of home . I have trouble with getting/keeping a primary for kiddo even before she was dxd with PANDAS. When I take her in, even for a sore throat, the pedis usually tell me to take her to an ER since they do not want to treat her because she is medically complicated. ERs do not usually want to treat sore throats since it is not a medical emergency so they say go to your pedi.
  18. Kiddos doc and I are talking about starting kiddo on oxytocin nasal spray. The primary reason is for her Autism, but the secondary reason the doc mentioned is it may mitigate some of her anxiety. Anyone here have any input on the nasal spray? I have done research, and have read both good and bad.
  19. The larger dose is scored just for cutting. It can be cut or ground into a power for suspension: http://www.drugs.com/dosage/valtrex.html
  20. We use a PUR plus water filter. It attaches to the water spicket. Our water is horrible, smells alternately like algea and cholrine. It is frequently tinged yellow/brown without filtration . I have sent it in to be tested, but have not received any results yet.
  21. I have gotten on the 23andme site and printed out hard copies of everything I think is important information for my daughter. The site may or may not be available in the future, and I do not want to take my chances. I personally recommend everyone print out what they feel is important of the health data off the site just in case. It is sad that folks who were happy with the service jump on a law suit just because of this . It is not like the company is giving out inaccurate information.
  22. Here is a list of the NIMH studies related to PANDAS. I am not sure which one the OP is in. I think if you click on a study, it will tell you how to contact them with the study ID #. http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=PANDAS&Search=Search
  23. This looks like a fairly good resource for IEPs (we home school so I have not read it all): http://pandasparentsymposium.blogspot.com/p/dr-jamie-candelaria-greene-phd-bcet.html
