I took kiddo to an Easter party yesterday, and it was loud. She did very well during the party and had fun, but had small "upsets" shortly after we got home siting that the party was loud as the cause. They did not last very long. Overall her mood has been great. She has also been slightly interacting with our new puppy that otherwise she was very scared of (he is still in the nipping stage *sigh*). She begged for a puppy and then was too afraid to play with it . We are using this for anxiety, ocd, and sound sensitivity mainly. ETA: I just realised, kiddo has stopped twirling her hair for the last two to three days......yipeeeee!! That is the most significant improvement I can report. She has been steadily hair twirling for about four months now.

VSL #3 is another probiotic: http://www.vsl3.com/ Enhansa is one of the bio-enhansed curcumin that are available. This one is made by Lee Silsby pharmacy.

As for the vapor pens, bluebird has them pre-filled for 75.00 and they do not appear "re-usable". I would suspect we could put the oral oil we have in a regular vapor pen, but I have not asked bluebird. I have found rechargeable vapor pens for 10.00 on up.

I asked kiddos Immuno about this supplement if he had heard any good/bad/indifferent. He responded today that he feels this supp is "excellent". Kiddos immuno is considered a reknowned PANDAS doc. He also is an autism specialist, so his "excellent" could be also because my kiddo has both autism and PANDAS.

Two years on zithromax, with one year on augmentin with some other thrown in during illnesses. My kiddos OAT test was fine, but we do a lot for the gut. She is on an 8 strain enteric probiotic, inulin prebiotics, sacc boullardi, bio-enhanced curcumin, home made milk kefir, and home made yogurt. The kefir and yogurt were every day, but now they are not as regular, but about to be reintegrated.

I forgot to ask, how is your son doing now? Still improving I hope. Are you still using 30 Drops tiwce a day?
-
I bought the bluebird drops as well. Next, I may try Cibdex from Amazon next time. Yesterday, I gave her 5 drops under the tongue (hold for 60 seconds) twice a day followed by swishing water to rinse and two jelly beans to reward and rid her of the flavor. I am going to go with 10 drops twice a day for a week, then drop to 8 drops twice a day for a week, then try 5 or 6 drops. Once a level is built up, you can reduce the amount given. I have been doing a lot of reading up and this is also anti-bacterial (mainly gram +), mildly anti-fungal, reduces inflammation in the brain, and helps reduce anxiety. There are many proported benefits for autistic kiddos as well, and she seems to be more likely to look at me today than yesterday, but I am seriously looking and hoping for benefits. Our whole family, like everyone on here, really could use a good result from something. PANDAS is taking a toll on all of us for these last two + years. We go to T-ball today, and I am hoping, praying and fingers crossed that her sound sensitivity will be reduced. If her sound sensitivity is decreased then her normal voice may eventually come back. I suspect whispering is as much a habit now as anything. How is your child's speech affected if I may ask?
-
Just an incidental note, I gave her the first dose earlier today. At the next dose, she out of the blue told me it made her feel better . I do not recall her ever telling me anything I have tried up to now made her feel better. Too soon to make a decission yet, but I am conservatively optomistic.

T anna, how much does your son weigh (if I may ask)? We are going to try this to see if kiddo's normal voice could possibly return on it, or maybe we can get some reduction in anxiety at least. Kiddo has been whispering, frequently barely audibly, for almost 2.5 yearsb(since 3 months post onset). She says it hurts her ears to talk in a normal voice. I really miss being able to communicate with her easily, and her daddy can barely understand 10% of the time. Thanks.

Terbutaline for contractions anyone?
Mayzoo replied to beeskneesmommy's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
No terbutaline, but yes for Rhogam and Pitocin (in case you need to know those later). -
Here is a PANDAS provider list, state by state: http://pandasnetwork.org/resources/providers/provider-list/#MINNESOTA. I hope you find one close enough that you can get to, and even better, on your insurance. My kiddo had strep when I took her in to get blood work to explore PANDAS. I was not even aware she had it. No fever, no sore throat, no symptoms at all. Then it took 60 days of antibiotics to clear the strep that I have no idea how long she had. Additionally, ASO and Anti-Dnase blood work is a start, but it is not definitive. My kiddo was tested in the midst of this 60 days of infection, and her titers were never up. She is immune compromised, so she does not respond as she should to almost any infection. Your child may have had strep and you both were unaware of it. ALSO......... Research on this site about PANS. These symptoms do not have to be strep associated, but they be related to other infections. Look at some of the signatures on this site and see all the variations of bacterial, tick-borne and viral infections that have been found in our kiddos after we all began "turning over the rocks." My siggie shows how complicated my kiddo is, and many others have more complicated cases than us. Good luck and I hope you him the help he needs fairly painlessly.

I am reading up on that site now, THANK YOU very much for the heads up. Hubby was already saying he wants to write to the president about this but felt it would be a waste of his time. It is not likely my question would be picked to be answered, but I will not know unless I try. So, I *will* try just to see. Hopefully it will help for next year, because this year I have to pick for kiddo by the 15th so she does not have a gap in coverage.

Yeah, if only we fit into that extreme . It is based on household income. Our whole family would qualify IF they would accept our tax records or my SS records proving I have no income. Since they will not accept my taxes or my SS records, my hubby and child qualify, but my remaining on the app is holding up my daughter getting insurance. I am forced to remove myself so I can insure my child. Clearly her insurance is more important than mine. Such is life, I suppose.

Our family applied for healthcare at the healthcare.gov site back in November. I am a SAHM, so I have zero income. My hubby has income, but they never asked me to prove his. The heathcare.gov site responded to my application stating I had to prove I have no income. To do this, they have stated I can send W-2's, letter from my employer, pay stubs, taxes, or a letter from the Social Security dept. I have sent my taxes, hubbies w-2s, and a letter from the SS department at the end of November. So far, they have not lifted the restriction that I must prove I have no income, so they must be rejecting the only proof I have. Since open enrollment is almost over, I am forced to remove myself off the application and start all over with a new application so I can get insurance for my kiddo. I spent 2 hours on the phone again today with them, and there is no other resolution that I can tell. If I sign up all three of us, and the government decides, because I have no income, that I am not eligible for the subsidies, then we will have to pay the subsidies back, and will have wasted all the money we paid to the insurance company as well. Additionally, I would be terrified to use the insurance in the mean time, because when it is canceled, I may have to pay back that as well. This would add up to about $5,000.00 + over a six month period verses paying the $99.00 fine for my not being insured this year. Also, my daughters insurance would be in jeopardy at the time I am removed because we are all on the same application. They cannot tell what would happen to her coverage when this happens, just that "something" would happen to her coverage. I know I am not the only SAHM, whose hubby does not have insurance at work. Is anyone else here in this boat with me, and if so, have you found a way to resolve this? I will try again next year at open enrollment and see if anything has changed.

Infections that don't have a treatment

Our immuno stated "nothing touches coxsackie" but I have read some are trying valtrex. If you do hear of more, I will read up on it here. -
$40 for 30 days worth? Since it has the streptococcus strain in it, I would just go with the much cheaper alternative of kefir myself. There is a water kefir option for those who are allergic to milk. For pennies a day, you get so much more. Here is a list of what is in an average milk kefir batch: http://www.culturesforhealth.com/milk-kefir-grains-composition-bacteria-yeast/# We also give Healthy Origins Probiotic in addition to the kefir (37.49 for 150 caps). It has 8 strains at 30B CFU. This adds the Bifidobacterium strains which the kefir is short on. We ultimately spend about .26 a day and her gut at last testing was doing great.

The OP is 4.5 years old. I do not know if this poster is still around or not.

Doxycline and Minocycline are notorious for this. It is rarely deep stains so long as you get your teeth cleaned or checked every 6 months. Our dentist gave us some of the paste with pumous stone in it that he cleans teeth with so I could brush her teeth with it a few times between check ups. Not sure if all dentists will do this or not.

Potential side effects of medications and supplements
Mayzoo replied to pasquale61's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
A few abx and magnesium need to be taken 2 hours apart or the magnesium can reduce the abx effectiveness. Same with probiotics and abx. Space them 2 hours apart or the abx may kill the beneficial bacteria. If you post which abx, I can tell you if it interacts with magnesium or not, or you can go to the below link and check for interactions. Here is a good site for interactions and side effects: http://www.drugs.com Here is a search for valtrex side effects: http://www.drugs.com/sfx/valtrex-side-effects.html -
I am active on an Autism forum and this has been discussed several times from several angles. Here is a search to forum posts about fecal transplants. You will have to register to use this link as it uses the search function of the forum, but there are 181 posts on this subject if you are interested. http://autismweb.com/forum/search.php?keywords=Fecal+transplant&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

Here is a post I made on another forum about this product: I would definitely recommend anyone interested in this, but cannot afford it, to try milk kefir made from home (a fermented milk product). I spent 4.00 on the milk kefir grains and they are good indefinitely unless I kill them through poor upkeep (rather hard to do). The grains also multiply, so you can sell them or give them away to others interested in starting this. Then, all you have to spend is the money on whatever medium you wish to culture them in. I use whole pasteurized store bought milk. Kefir takes about 15 minutes of my time a day to make (24-48 hours for the culturing to be done), and it keeps quite a while. You use both the kefir made and the whey byproduct. You can culture kefir grains in whatever medium you wish. Diary milk, organic raw milk, almond milk, cream, colostrum (such as http://www.amazon.com/Symbiotics-Colostrum-Plus-Powder-21-Ounce/dp/B000BREOR2), etc..... Here is a general guideline of what bacteria and yeast are often found in most milk kefir cultures: Bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus Lactobacillus brevis Lactobacillus casei Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. delbrueckii Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. lactis Lactobacillus helveticus Lactobacillus kefiranofaciens subsp. kefiranofaciens Lactobacillus kefiri Lactobacillus paracasei subsp. paracasei Lactobacillus plantarum Lactobacillus rhamnosus Lactobacillus sake Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis Lactococcus lactis Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. cremoris Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. dextranicum Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides Streptococcus thermophilus Yeasts Chamaerops humilis Kazachstania unispora Kazachstania exigua Kazachstania exigua Kluyveromyces siamensis Kluyveromyces lactis Kluyveromyces marxianus Pseudomonas Pseudomonas fluorescens Pseudomonas putida Saccharomyces cerevisiae Saccharomyces martiniae Saccharomyces unisporus http://www.culturesforhealth.com/differ ... gurt-kefir

I have not been logged out as of yet. Is it with ten minutes of steady activity or ten minutes erratic activity that you get logged out? About 25 minutes of constant surfing this site on my phone and I did not get logged out at all. -

No, I did nothing different. Maybe the explorer fix helped firefox issue indirectly? Regardless, I am glad it working now . Thank you webmaster!!
