Have an appointment for July 16th while I'll be in Chicago. Scheduled it all by myself, got the precertification from the insurance company all by myself, & I'm getting my records transferred all by myself. :) :)

Needless to say, I'm feeling a little proud of myself. (Too many "myself"s in this post...)

I'll let you all know how it goes!! I am beyond excited to see him.

Uh... Did Dr. K pull out of the OCD conference in Wash DC that day, 7/16? He isn't scheduled til late afternoon, so maybe he's having office visits in the morning? I'd really like to know if he canceled his presentation.

Emerson, you are one amazing teenager!

Yes, my Mom is going!!! I am VERY excited about that part. I hope Dr. K can help her to understand what a broad disorder P.A.N.D.A.S. is. So much more than OCD & tics!

& I don't know about the conference! :/

My appointment is at 4 PM, not in the morning... I emailed him two days ago, he replied telling me to schedule an appointment with his assistant Diane, & she said he was going to be there that day.

Thank you all so much!! I'm getting my entire medical file sent to him.. Thank God for Cook's Children's Hospital being so accomodating. :) I have a pretty hefty file, hahah. That way he'll be able to know as much about my history as my neurologist in Fort Worth. I'll be sure to update you all as soon as I get back from it! :)

Yes, I'm curious about the OCD conference as well?

Anyway, I'm so glad you made the appointment. Even if you don't have much support from your mom, I think it is a step in the right direction. AND, you have LOTS of support from your CYBER moms on the PANDAS forum. :) Way to go!!

Good job on being persistant..and convincing your mom to go and doing all the leg work...

It will also be good to have another set of ears ..no matter what doctor you go to...

Dr. K is confirmed on the 16th in DC. Sorry to give bad news - don't be discouraged - just call back & I'm sure they will reschedule. He is out of town on the 19th as well.

Yes, call back. It's not unusual for receptionists to get their signals crossed!

By the way Ailidh, I hope you are planning to go to college after high school.... AND then medical school so you can be a KICK-###### PANDAS doc one day!!!

Yes, I agree, call back and sort out the conference/appointment conflict. I have encountered such confusion before with appointments with Dr. Kovacevic -- not because he and his secretaries aren't attentive, more the opposite. The doctor juggles two different private offices, plus the surgical center where he administers IVIG, plus his own direct e-mail correspondence. And when he tries to help a patient "last-minute," with a scheduling change, sometimes it takes a while for everyone to get "on the same page."

Don't even know you, but I'm really thrilled that you're going for this consultation!

You are living proof that there must be some mysterious correlation between "smarts" and susceptibility to this illness.
