patty
Hi all, Just wondering how often does your child see a dr.? Over the last 2 years, we average at least once a week, with various drs. And we did as much as 2/3 a week in the beginning. We have gone thru 10 drs and various modalities. It was stressful each time we try something new because i never knew how it would impact his tics. Now, we are down to 2 dr., which is manageable. I am very thankful that my son is doing well. I wouldn't do it any other way. I am just tired & exhausted, and would like to eventually scale back. I want my son to enjoy life. I don't want him to feel like he is always seeing a dr. Thx for your feedback. Pat
faith
Hey Pat! Wow, you must be broke! What do the doctors do during those visits, just for an update? Or I guess if its his chiro appts, then I can see that. But when we were seeing our naturo, in the beginning she would want us to come back for follow ups like two weeks later all the time, and it gets pricey ($90 1/2 hr). Most times tho, I would just go alone without my son, because it was just to discuss his progress on whatever we were doing at the time. Afte a time, I didn't like going so often so I would stretch it out. Now I have not been there in a long while, but I couldn't take keep on visiting just to talk about what we tried and how he reacted. Things were not going wonderfully at one point, so I had to take a break from whatever new supplements we were trying and sort of figure it out on my own for a while. Our DAN we go like every 3-4 months just to follow up because of the B12 shots and then I use that visit to talk about anything else I want to persue, if anything. I would be happy to see doctors every week if my son was consistently doing well on their protocol and I felt they knew more about tics and tourettes than I do!! How are things going presently? michele
Yes, we go every few months. We do Occupational therapy once a week. I call the Dr's and make appointments if I can't figure things out on my own. If we need prescription refills we go every five months. When I was at a searching point for answers we saw more Dr's in a short amount of time. Like the DAN, then the neurologists then the two immunologists, then the psychiatrist in the matter of a couple months. If the Dr's don't give you what you need then you have to keep searching. We have been through several Dr's. It is time consuming and frustrating especially when you know more then the Dr.'s do! I wish there was a manual to follow. Michele Hey Pat!Wow, you must be broke! patty
Hi Faith, Yes, it is very expensive and exhausting. The good news is my son is continuing to do well, tics are infrequent and very minimal that no one even notice. About a month since my son's acute onset, we started acunpuncture along with chiropractic once a week, then later added TCM once a month. Then added CST once a week along with acunpuncure and chiropractic. About 3 mos. later, we started with a ND, along with NAET once or twice a week. At this pt., decided to drop acunpuncture because it was causing too much stress on my son. Also drop CST because we didn't get any result, i believe she did not know what she was doing. Dropped our ND, did not feel she help, instead all the supplements she recommended caused even more symptoms. Switched to another chirop who does CST once a week, then later to every two weeks. Found another ND who also does CST. Dropped chirop after 8 mos.. Consulted with a Classical Homoeopath 2 times but did not feel comfortable with the remedy prescribed, so drop that. After about 40 NAET treatments, decided to switch to BioSet. Found this fantasic practitioner who has TCM background, who did NAET and change to BioSet. So here we are, just a ND who treats my son 2X/week with CST, along with Unda #s. And Bioset once a week to finish off allergy elimination. I am very hopeful that this is the tail end of our treatments. Pat
Chemar
Hi Patty we are at minimal doctor phase, thank goodness. General checkups every 6 months. acupuncture/bio/reflexology etc once a month. Chiro only as needed, usually once or twice a month
faith
Pat, I understand what you say about the Bioset being a little faster and less expensive, but how long more would you have to go with the NAET? You were pretty satisfied with that tho, right? I mean, how long more would you have to do NAET, what can be left to treat? I think I don't understand how many things you have to treat, when does the list end? Does Bioset just start where the NAET left off? I mean, you don't have to sort of start all over, right? Thanks, you know me, I like to pick everything apart. Faith
