Anyone's ND treating the nervous system as an underling cause for

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone's ND suggest naturopathic & homeopathic medicine for the nervous system to calm the tics? We have done bioset testing and ruled out metal or toxins as the cause of tics.

I know many here talks about chelation and metal detox, but not addressing the nervous system specificially.

Our first ND, suggested Undo #s for detoxification and they caused a flair up in symptoms. Then later we tried probiotic (HML replete) and a even bigger flair up that lasted well over a month.

Because of this experience, i am concern about the naturopathic & homeopathic medicine. Although our ND says it should not bring up more symptoms because it is not aimed at detoxing, i would like to know what are other's experience. Thx for taking your time to reply.

Hi Patty

I am not sure I understand the question??

Nomatter the root cause of the tics, it is the central nervous system that is impacted and so that is the focus of treatment, as motor and vocal tics are neurological, even tho they may be "caused" or triggered by other factors

Are you referring to natural treatments in general? or to specific homeopathic/naturopathic remedies?

Hi Patty, could you explain what Undo #s and Probiotic HML replete are? Were they given for chelation? Or detoxification? Is detoxification and chelation the same thing? How did he come to the conclusion to detox in the first place? I am just wondering because our doctor said my son needed chelation by doing a body terrain test on him, and having autonomic response therapy, where he held metals in his hand and tested him to see if he had a weakness to them. I know it sounds strange, and I don't know if I want to continue chelation with no other tests. My son gets chelated orally, with Burbur drops, Algas, NDF PLUS, and Chlorella capsules which have vitamins, minerals, and amino acids in it too. I don't know whether I'm wasting my time and money. It's supposed to be safe, but my son's impulsiveness and hyperactivity have increased, because we took him off his clonidine to do this. The doctor said to give him passiflora to calm him down. Anyway, hopefully we can help each other on this board.

Hi Patty,

I don't know if my naturo is specifically treating the nervous system but has given us a couple of things that she feels will be calming, I guess that means to the nervous system. One product called De-Stress which is some kind of peptide that is supposed to be for calming stress, and she did want to introduce inositol for further calming as she said, however I have not been giving as I imagined more ticcing, but wasn't sure, so I have yet to add that in. As far as homeopathic, she did start with one remedy in the beginning, I had no idea what it was or was supposed to do, but didn't note anything, and we have a product called "magnesia phosphorica" which is a homeopathic magnesium, I guess. I did not give that yet as I wanted to give the natural calm first. I have to admit homeopathic doesn't compute with me, personally. I understand the concept of "like cures like", but just don't get it. But I'd be interested to know if anyone tried homeopathic remedies with success.

Faith

P.S. our first naturo also gave us the unda #'s but I never gave them to him -- I think I may have read your posts about your bad experience and decided against it!! ... Maybe I should try them on myself..

Kallik,

The Undo #s were used for kidney and liver drainage & helped tissues to release toxins. We were on 3 different sets of 3 undo #s. Each set takes about 3 weeks to finished. The last set had a mild chelation effect and my son's symptoms were substantially worse than when we first started treatment.

The HML replete is a form of probiotic. Since my son has food sensitivities, there is some issues with the gut. That also caused major flair up for my son that lasted for over a month.

I am not saying the Undo #s & the HML replete is not beneficial. I am just saying that it wasn't the right treatment plan for my son, as everyone response to things differently. I do find that my son benefits from energentic work, like accunpuncture, chiropratic, NAET and CST. Because of this, i select treatments that aim to benefit the nervous system.

And i am very fortunate that i found another ND who diaganois my son's underlining issue is most likely not metal or toxins, but a nervous system issue. She also agreed with me that chelation does not benefit everyone with tics because she had seen that in her past experience. What she find beneficial is CST combined with homepathic and sometimes naturopathic medicine.

Faith,

I want to stress that the Undo #s did not work for my son, but it doesn't mean it is not beneficial to yours. I am just writing my experience. I did not mean to alarm you about the Undo#s.

I am in the process of finishing up NAET, so i told my son's NDs to hold off on the homepathic & naturapathic medicines. It always stress me out when the drs. recommend something new for my son to take orally because the last time caused so much flair up.

I will let you know what the two NDs prescribe later as i am ready for it. I know one of the things suggested is taking enzymes due to my son's sensitivities to mold. It was treated twice this year via NAET. According to my son's ND, mold sensitivies comes from the gut.

The homeopathic items that you mentioned seems like is for anxiety or nervousness. I use homepathic remedies on occassions for my anxiety and other minor issues and it helps me. I like homeopathic medicine because it is symptom specific and it treats the whole person and not the disease. We can all have the same cold virus but the expression of a cold virus come out different for everyone. That's why i find this effective. It is kind of similiar to Chinese medicine and ayurvedic.
