Just want to talk....

Hi all,

It has been awhile since i last post, but i have continued to check in and read the posts here.

Anyways, we have started chirop & craniosacrol treatment for my son 2 mos. ago, with 10 weekly sessions in all so far. The first 3 sessions, seem to increase more symptoms, then the next 3, less symptoms, and then the last 4 sometimes less and more and casued a new tic. I am not sure what to make of it. My husband & I both feel very comfortable with this doctor and because he is a teaching doctor, we feel confident in his skills & knowledge. However, i am a bit frustrated not seeing more results, since we have seen him 10 times already. My son is getting a little impatient about going on a weekly basis, although i tried to make it as fun & relaxing as i can. Afterall he is only 7!

Anyone out there with typical experience that it takes longer to see results. My husband & i both feel that perhaps we should give it more time and see where it take us.

We also suspect more symptoms due to the spring pollen. My son started this acute nodding tic late March of last year and he has environmental allergies.

It has been exhausting for me because the dietary restrictions and the dr appts. I have been doing pretty good emotionally and thinking positive for the last couple of months, and then all of a sudden, i am just out of gas. In fact, i am having lower back pain, i am sure it is related to the stress that i am having. i am getting more concern for myself than my son because i am the care taker for the family. It would be a hardship if i cannot continue doing what i am doing. Sorry for rambling, just want to talk and get over this rough spot. I know tomorrow is a better day. The journey has been long, but we will get there one day at a time. I am thankful that my son is happy, healthy and well adjusted in school. And in retrospect, he is so much better than when he started. He is definitely having more good days then bad, and the increased symptoms are brief.

Thx for listening!

Patty

Dear Patty

many of us know exactly how you are feeling now having also been on that roller coaster with still tics waxing and waning despite our best efforts at all the good treatments and changes

still................I think you summed it up at the end of your post when you said

And in retrospect, he is so much better than when he started. He is definitely having more good days then bad, and the increased symptoms are brief.

that is what keeps our eyes always fixed on that light at the end of the tunnel

Hi Patty

Just wanted to add my support. We all have good days and bad days. The most important thing is what sort of days are our kids having. You kid seems to be having good days, so if he's having good days, we should share them good days with him.

Keep you chin up and dont give up. Together we are stronger.

Patty,

The changing winds of life...

I have to tell myself every day COURAGE, COURAGE!

I'm on pins and needles now, waiting to see how my son will do off the meds.

I have to beg for help with PATIENCE, PATIENCE!

I know there is a rainbow out there for all of us.

God Bless

C.P.

Hi Patty,

I was struggling on what to say to you, but I think Chemar did it perfectly. If he is doing so much better and he is happy and doing well in school, well then you are doing something right.

Your last messages gave me some good advice that I have tried to follow, and I will tell you I am doing much better now. We all are. I am following the naturo's recs and also doing my own observing, but am really trying not to fret so much. I don't look at him with that frightened, critical eye anymore. His head shake is gone now, he does twitch his eyes and I still hear little squeaks and huhs, but as long as it is not so obviously apparant to others, I'm grateful. Like you say some days are better than others. Let's face it, I think we are all just fearful of the future, the unknown. If you start looking around, you'll see every family has something they are struggling with. We will get through it. What I really want is everyone (the public at large) to be like "he has tics, you have tics, tics exist, etc., oh? so what?."

I think you were referrring to continuing with the chiro/cranio? If you see he is much better than when you started, then I say keep it up. If you are feeling it is up and down and not too sure if it is actually helping directly, maybe you could take a couple weeks "rest" and see what happens. Or maybe you could go once a month. Are you moving forward with anything else? We were doing some chiro too, and had the same type of thing--I wasn't seeing any clear improvement, some weeks good, and one exacerbation after a treatment. So we decided (on her recommendation) to go a few weeks without it and see how he does, and my feeling is that he is doing pretty well sometimes, so am not sure if chiro is really needed on a regualar basis for him. I am also doing a few things with the naturo, so I'm gonna stick to that regimen right now. Its slow and steady. His head shake subsided when we took out the yeast/corn, and we weren't doing the chiro at that time. Of course, it could have been a cooincidence, but for now I'm sticking with it.

I know you are probably feeling better already--and as I was stating to the naturo--it is hard keeping up with the diet restrictions, shopping, cooking, etc. but it gets easier because you get used to it and it starts to become second nature.

Just remember where your strength is coming from...............................faith.
