We are into month 3 of treating Bartonella with Rifampin M-F, Azith Sat-Sun (3 weeks on). Flagyl for 7 days in between Rifampin/Azith weeks.

We also added Nystatin about 1 month ago (4 pills at bedtime).

My DD12's newest symptom is stomach pain. I cannot tell if this is related to herxing, yeast die-off or is it a Lyme or Bartonella symptom. She can hardly eat anything.

We are supporting her body with:

Detox supplements inclucing MB12 injections. She takes a detox bath everyday. We are gluten/milk free and eat a pretty healthy diet. Lots of probiotics.

Any thoughts?

It may well be the Bartonella. Prior to lyme treatment my dd had constant stomach pain. During treatment her stomach issues went completely away. Now off of antibiotics, they have returned. I have done numerous stool test (Quest) which have come back normal. Dd has Bart & Lyme.

There's a bug going around here (Southern Ontario), that is exactly like that. Stomach pain and no appetite, followed by diarrhea. When my first kiddo got it last week I thought it was from the antibiotics. LLMD had us take him off for a week and up detox and yeast meds. He was getting better, so I figured that was it. Now PANDAS DS has the exact same thing, and I found out that half his class is out with the same thing. So it's definitely something viral. Maybe the same bug is going around your area?

I was just thinking, it sounds odd to take 4 nystatin at bedtime. Our LLMD has us take it 3 times throughout the day, and even told us not to double-up if we miss one. I'm wondering what the thinking is on taking it all at once? Just curious.

Stomach aches have been pretty constant throughout for my son but have decreased in intensity since starting lyme treatment. When he has a flair tho, he does say that it hurts worse.

My dd and I who see two different LLMD's take our nystatin twice per day.

I believe I have had stomach pain as a herx, but it is hard to tell if it is herx or from the meds. Part of the reason I think it is a herx is that sometimes it hasn't begun until after I take the two days of Flagyl, and then it comes the following day. I've finally found a happy medium, so I don't get sick.

Instead of taking it with my full dose of doxy, I started taking it without the doxy and now have added back in half a dose of doxy on the same days, if I can handle it.

Good luck. Stomach pain is the worst!

Consider checking for h-pylori and giardia, and c-diff. DS was having stomach problems for several months...even lost about 25 lbs, and gastro never checked for this. Another parent suggested it to me, and we found out he was suffering from c-diff. Since then, he's had it 2 or 3 times more. We are now very careful about using oral abx at all. It is a problem, but he's now more prone to using shots if necessary, and we are also using supports like cats claw (hopefully it will keep working.) And, we do probiotics religiously. So, I would highly suggest making sure you check for these stomach problems.
