Wilma Jenks Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 when my child craves carbs, she is like an addict. she will get violent until she gets something sweet. we are not sweet eaters, so we try to get orange juice into her. does anyones chld get this way. there is no way i can get her to stop ransacking the cabinets. she is so aggitated when this happens. i always thought it was low sugar, but i think its yeast. any advice? she is taking: 9am Nystatin 10am 2- Charcoal 12pm Azithromycin 12:30pm Lamictal 3pm Nystatin 4pm 2-Charcoal 6pm Nystatin 9pm Melatonin 9:30pm 25mg. rockytop Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 We went through this at maddening intensity for MANY months. it is still a problem- but often is it pasta. everytime we do something that upsets her, she needs, and I mean NEEDS, pasta, hot cocoa, hot tea (with honey or sugar of course) She was on risperdal, which honestly was so very helpful. I think that have contributed to cravings but once we got to better dose (higher, which worked better for her) cravings decreased and she was so much calmer. I would really encourage you to try risperdal if you have not yet. seroquel and lamictal were not very helpful here at all. hope that helps

Seroquel you need some probiotics in there...with the azith and nytatin you are leaving too much room for other things to take over ie..clostridia..it will help fill in the spaces those 2 are taking up...also charcoal absorbs everying including good stuff.. i'm not sure if nystatin reacts the same as diflucan...but sach billardi will give die off effect with that...so try a different probiotic..bifudus are good... i see you on you schedule you can give some at bedtime ...which is the best time...but you may want to try to give some at 3pm with the nystatin..which is after the abx... just some places that i would try to fit it in
Stephanie2 Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 yes, the carb cravings are horrendous when my boys have yeast. It is a real need for sweets, not a behavior problem or a tantrum. My son wakes up in the middle of the night to eat. There's really no way to stop it except to treat the yeast.

MichaelTampa Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 I believe I have been through some of this as well. To me it feels like a blood sugar issue. Many people were shocked at how much I could eat sometimes, and still be so skinny; this was before I knew what was going on. More recently, I have found that probiotics do help me some for this, during the attack as well as throughout the day to prevent the situation. I do think that, as Stephanie suggested, the yeast are the primary factor here. Another thing that can be critical, though, even if it is just a secondary factor, is minerals. Chromium, zinc, and vanadium, in particular play a vital function in maintenance of blood sugar and insulin and all that fancy chemistry/biology stuff. Binders, such as charcoal, will remove minerals from the body. While these minerals are helpful for many, even if they're not taking binders, with binders, you just need a lot more minerals. With minerals, the balance between all the different ones is so important, so I wouldn't recommend blindly taking just one or two. I take magnesium, calcium, zinc, chromium, vanadium, germanium, selenium, iodine, and copper. The balance between zinc and copper is supposedly quite important, with zinc generally recommended with meals and copper at evening/night. Actually, I ordered some lithium (supposedly to help detox the brain) that should arrive today, and may add that one as well, we'll see.
