Apples?

I know that I've read about apples doing something to tics. I just can't remember if it increases them or decreases them. My daughter came home from school today and was great. No vocals at all. Had an apple and her vocals started up. Please enlighten me on the apple connection with tics.

Thanks in advance,

Hi...apples are high in salicylates which some people have sensitivities to, the other trigger could be pesticides if not organic apples. Our ds definately needs to eat organic as he is quite sensitive to pesticides and other treatments ie waxes etc.

Wow, I don't even know what to say because I am reeling from all the things I need to think about/try to eliminate. First we cleaned our air: big difference

Then we took high quality supplement: Bonnie's Vitamins: another great step

Then we eliminated wheat: another huge difference

Things still aren't right yet though.

To think we have to do organic now too! Ughh, it is overwhelming because it is 5 family members trying to heal. I think each of us has different levels/types of illness/triggers.

Thanks to everyone though, this forum has been a God send to me and to my children.

Hi

pesticides are a known tic trigger so best stick with organic. It really is not that much more expensive and actually tastes a lot better too :)

If you cannot find organic, always wash thoroughly and remove the skin

apples are only a problem for those who have salicylate intolerance. Golden delicious are usually the safest choice if you are not sure if there is a problem with salicylates.

remember too that with what your family has been through, you may all be super sensitive to all toxins now so even a tiny bit of eg pesticide can have a dramatic effect!

apples and grapes are sadly amongst the most heavily pesticide laden fruits!

Oh my goodness...for years, I mean years, I would buy MacIntosh apples only (because they are my favorite). My husband would always complain and say to me, "please, please buy red delicious, they are the only apples I am not allergic to".

It all seems to make sense now. He says his mouth swells up and he starts "coughing" (which has always been a tic) whenever he eats apples.

Thanks Chemar and Lynn, so very helpful, I appreciate it.
