Hi, I am trying to be dairy free with my son. Is it ok for him to have rice milk? Hopefully this is not a silly question but the diet thing is the hardest thing that I have done. Thanks> Deanna

One more questions when rechecked should it just be throat culture of blood levels as well?? Thanks again!!! Deanna

Hi , thanks for the quick reply no sore throat or fever--should I have the doctor change his antibiotic now or just wait??? I was kinda surprised when the doc called and said he was positive. His pediatrician is pretty good about listening and looking into things and taking suggestions. Neurologist not so good. Thanks for the insight. Deanna

Hi, I am fairly new to the forum so if this question has been answered before I apologize. My son is 9 years old and about 1 year ago he started rolling his eyes, we did not think any thing of it, then he started clearing his throat all the time, that was then replaced with jerking his head and rolling eyes. We went to the neurologist --I had researched a fair amount and at the time brought up the topic of PANDAS which she quickly dismissed, he was started on Clonindine at that was that. However, the more research I did on my own on the topic the more educated I became and I really feel there is an allergic/enviromental component. Last week he some labs drawn strept titers, Lymes titers and some other electrolytes and a throat culture. His pediatrician called today and said he was positive for strept. He has had a increase in tics over the last couple weeks. She put him om Amoixicillin for 10 days. He surely meets the criteria for PANDAS but it has been a year since this all started. I am not sure what I should be doing next.? Any insight would be appreciated. Deanna

Hello Everyone, Just need to get some insight --my son has had a flair up of his tics over the last few weeks--because of the info I have gotten on this sight I had lab work drawn last week --CBC, strept titers and culture and Lymes, magnesium levels and other electrolytes. I mentioned the PANDA issue a year ago to the neurologist who quickly dismissed it--go figure. So his pediatrican put him on amoxicilline for 10 days today in lieu of his lab results. I guess my question is what is the appropriate treatment for PANDAS?/ When shoud future strept titers be done after the antibiotic course is completed?? Thanks to everyone one this site who has responded to my questions the insight I have gained over the last few weeks is unbeleivable--I appreciate everyone who has responded and wish you all the best of luck with everything you are dealing with! God bless and have a great day. Deanna

Hello, I did tell the allergist that I thought there could be a enviromental/allergic component--I don't really know if he believed it or not--he did the skin tests on him not a blood test. The things that I told you he tested for could have been a false positive--from the info I have gotten from other people that have used the test provided by the other labs the results will be more accurate on what food/dyes to cut out. This is so much to learn its overwhelimg at times I just keep reading this site, (old Posts) and gather as much info as I can. I just had my son tested for PANDAS and Lyme's since there has been links between these and tics. Let me know if you have any other questions. If I can offer you any info I would be happy to. Deanna

Hi Jodi, My son just went to the allergist and was tested for food and molds, grasses, etc I have now set up testing through ALCAT labs but their are some here that have used GREAT PLAINS--this is a test which will show a better picture of what allergies my son has and potential triggers--testing from the allergist showed my son had allergies to soy, corn and and a bunch of grasses and trees. I know there are people here who will have more info than me because I am fairly new as well--best of luck. I am not familiar with biofeedback Deanna

Hello, I read your reply and was curious how one would know to treat for candida? also what other things could cause the tics. Thanks for all your great information. Deanna -
It just a stool test or a blood test as well to determing whether someone is intolerant to gluten?? Deanna

Hi, I am also new to this site but have also gotten so much info. Our neurologist was quick to medicate and not offer any alternatives. A year later and much smarter I am weaning his clonidine and cleaning up his diet--he was allergy tested a few weeks agod which show allergies to corn, wheat, soy, and a bunch of other enviromental things. Tomorrow we are drawing blood for PANDAS, Lymes and some other things--he is also having a test done through ALCAT labs IgG testing. I hope this is somewhat helpful-alot seems to be trial and error. He was on alot of vitamin supplements which I stopped about a week ago --I am going to reintroduce a magnesium supplement in a week but his tics were bad for the last 2 weeks so I am starting everything over and keeping better track of things. I hope things get better for you and you have better luck than I did with your neurologist--best of luck!! Deanna

Hello, I am having the same problems as well at this point with my son--its so frustrating to know what to do but I think its trial and error--i am really going to fine tune his diet in terms of the corn allergy. I am going to continue with the magnesium, calcium and zinc----I am going to keep reading posts on here to see if I have missed anything--I hope and pray things get better for you hang in there --things have to get better. talk to you soon. Hi, I had him allergy tested--food alleriges were corn--other alleriges included all kinds of trees, cats, ragweed--i have cut out food with corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, corn starch--put him on alot of organic foods and foods free of all dyes. I also took him off dairy and started soy over the last 2 days the diet I have been implementing for about 2 weeks Deanna

Hi, me again--I feel like I am not doing anything right! my sons head tics seem worse and more frequent--I have tweaked his diet and he is eating the best he has ever eaten. He gets a multi vitamin which is full of b vitamins, I stopped the super b complex per some one's suggestion, he ist taking mg-zinc-calcium and last night I added Kids calm at bedtime --I am really puzzled!! he is taking 1.0 mg Clonidine at bedtime and half this dose in am--I don't know what else to do--amino acids but I am not sure--I am so upset tonight--someone today on his field trip made fun of him and I just want to help him I wish it was me going through this and not him. Please send suggestions--God bless. Deanna
