I went grocery shopping with my DS8. He grabbed some honey and threw it in the cart. I never buy honey. He insisted. Now, he has been wanting it all day. He can't seem to get enough of it. I know very little about the healing properties of honey. Does anyone know how much honey is ok for a kid to eat a day? I googled honey and noticed that it can boost the immune system. Maybe the body craves what it needs...

honey is also a remarkable natural antibiotic

as to how much is too much....hard to say. There is always a point where even a good thing can be taken in excess......

But we use a lot of the organic raw honey here without any problems

Our naturopathic dr advises buying local raw honey as it's supposed to be better for the body to eat things locally.

that is very interesting about the antibiotic properties of honey! I use raw honey for coughs for all of my kids and it works better than cough syrup. do you happen to know: does the natural sugar cause any yeast problems? I know my son craves sweets when yeast is flaring.

I think when you consume sugar from more natural sources, your body knows when it has had enough you're more likely to get a stomach ache...it is the processed stuff that gets us in trouble.

Becca loves honey too, she likes it mixed with her maple syrup on pancakes and waffles. We also buy the all natural maple syrup. Some brands of maple syrup don't even have "maple syrup" listed in the ingredients.

It has also been said that honey from your local area is good for allergies. I have heard a teaspoon a day and also 1/2 teaspoon a day on this. It must be local though to you area. I had a guy in RI try to sell me honey from CT up around the Fairfield area and tell me it would do the same, I don't know about that. Quite a distance there.
